Effect: When this card attacks with an ATK higher than the DEF of your opponent's Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points. When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, draw 1 card from your deck.
This card offers speed to any beatdown deck. Usually, any effect that lets you draw is a good thing, and this effect will almost guarantee that you will draw a card each time this monster attacks. However, the ability for you to keep this monster in play for any extended period of time is in question. Its got only 1900 ATK for a 1 tribute monster. It barely matches up with the main beatdown monsters (Gemini Elf, Breaker). I would suggest side decking this card and using it when you're not facing a beatdown deck. Otherwise it's going to get run over.
I'd give it 3.6/5. It's absolutely devastating to certain decks, but seeing as how most people play beatdown, you're better off side-decking it. |

Ah yes, Perseus.
One of the most anticipated creatures in the
Legacy of Darkness expansion way back when.
People were figuring out how to put it into their
decks, because it was so abuseable.
Legacy came and went,
and Perseus seemed to suddenly drop off the radar.
He was found to have too low of an attack power
for one to waste a Tribute on. Most people
turned to Dark Ruler Ha Des as a Tribute companion
to Jinzo.
However, in the couple
of months around and after Pharaonic Guardian's
release, Parshath seemed to regain some
popularity. He could trample over stuff and
draw cards. With control becoming ever so
popular after Pharaonic Guardian and many decks
resorting to smaller monsters with killer effects,
Parshath just trampled all over them, liking the
lack of strong beatsticks, with the exception of
the occasional Spear Dragon, Gemini Elf, Goblin
Attack Force, or Lily. The advent of Painful
Choice as a near-staple also helped out Parshath,
as one could easily dump Parshath into the
graveyard, then revive it with one of the big 3
recursers.
Then, Magician's Force
came. I honestly think this set was the
start of Parshath's slide to mediocrity. The
1900 monster gained two (well, two and a half if
you count Brekaer) creatures for its forces, and
the level 4 1900 is the bane of Parshath's
existence. All that work to get Parshath
out, and it gets suicided by a Skilled Dark
Magician.
In my opinion, Dark
Crisis will all but doom Parshath.
Terrorking Archfiend (j. Genocide King Demon)
looks at Parshath and laughs. Vampire Lord
will most likely steal the 2nd Trib spot in most
control decks, as it can prove to be a potent
disruptor and it's not that easy to kill.
And, of course, a new 1900 that runs right into
Parshath, and this one is going to be either a
Common or Rare (referring to Demon Soldier, of
course).
However, there is
still hope for our favorite Fairy. Recently
in Japan, a Japanese set known as "Sanctuary
of the Sky" was released. (I'm pretty
sure DM7 has mentioned this already, but I'll
still mention it anyways.) This set gave
massive support to the Angel/Fairy sub-type,
giving Parshath another reason to live.
Now that I'm done
telling the story of Parshath, I do believe I
should actually look at the card.
1900 attack..basically
the norm.
Trample...At least
it's better than Spear Dragon and his defense
thingy.

effect...Where do I sign up?
Level 5...Ehhhh....it
balances Parshy.
It's easy to see why
Parshath was so popular in its prime. Card
drawing is rare in this game, trample is one of
the most popular abilities (*is careful not to
start a Magic-type rant*), and 1900 attack was
often enough to destroy the average monster on the
field. At the point that it became the most
popular, the 1900+ level 4 monster was appearing
in low quantities, because Tomatos, Dons, and
Reapers were popular. Parshath simply
laughed at all of them and proceeded to run them
over, particularly the Spirit Reaper. And he
didn't have to switch to defense after he
attacked, unlike Spear Dragon, so he was less
vulnerable.
Now, I am not
advocating that Airknight is "bad" right
now. I'm just saying that you need to take
precautions when playing him. Played
correctly, he can be an excellent asset.
However, it's a calculated risk, as the number of
ways he dies increases by every set, moreso than
any other useful Tribute monster, because all
other useful Tribute monsters have at least 2000
attack =/

Still one of the
better monsters in the game, although his
usefulness is slowly deteriorating over time.
Use him while he's still useful.
Draft/Limited:

An excellent pick in a
game where excellent picks in draft are limited.

Airknight Parshath is
by far one of the more playable Tribute Summon
Monsters we currently have at our disposal. Take
Spear Dragon, drop the negative Goblin Attack
Force-like Effect, add the ability to potentially
draw card(s), and you have Airknight Parshath.
Sadly it only has 1900
ATK, so it is vulnerable to the usual beatsticks
you often see. I'm sure we would all of much
rather preferred a 2000 ATK Airknight Parshath
with the disadvantage of it being Restricted. But
obviously this isn't the case.
If you manage to pull
one of these in Limited, everyone might as well
concede to you. It won't be easy for your opponent
to deal with a threat such as this.

Combos:
Ceasefire & Light Of Intervention - Makes trampling a little easier, ie. you don't have to worry about Flip-Effects or running into a high Defense Monster.
Notes:
Ahh, the Airknight Parshath, one of the few Monster with a built in Fairy Meteor Crush Effect, which can be closely compared to Spear Dragon, but has some advantages and some disadvantages over Spear though. Spear Dragon has to be switched to DEF after Attacking and has 0 base DEF but doesn't require a tribute, Airknight requires a tribute but at least has some decent DEF strength and you draw a card when he inflicts Battle Damage. So it's really a matter of likings, but it is still easier to run 3x Spear Dragons than it is to run 3x Airknight since playing more than 2-3 Tribute Monsters becomes risky in the current game and we already normally have Jinzo taking up one spot and depending on your deck theme you may have more.
The Trample & drawing factor is really what makes Airknight an Ultra Rare, but having to tribute for only 1900 ATK can sometimes leave him useless in your hand if all the opponent has out are 2000 ATK or higher and you're not running/pulling any Equip Spells or Counter Attack Traps. So... He (if it is indeed a he) may not be a best bet for the average Beatdown or Control Decks, but if you play an all Light or Fairy Deck he can be a good team leader. You could also fit him into an Exodia Deck to add in some drawing speed, but personally I don't own any Airknights and I probably wouldn't use him in my current Deck if I did. All in all it is a very nice card but the whole one tribute for only 1900 ATK is what makes it an iffy card to run unless you're planning out a specific theme built around Airknight which could be pretty mean and fun.

I've been so busy the last month, I've barely had time to do any reviews... so, I'm slacking off at work today to get a few in.
Trample Effect plus Card Drawing are 2 pretty killer effects. The trampling makes it easier to get the card drawing effect which means after 2 hits for damage, you will have gained card advantage. Unlike Spear Dragon this does not switch to Defense Position after attacking so it has a little more longevity. With 100 more ATK points, this would be an amazing monster but as it is, it's merely "very good".
The low ATK, given that this is a tribute monster, is what really hurts this. Any number of things can kill this either outright or by going in for a suicide attack. Your opponent won't shed any tears by suiciding his/her Gemini Elf into this.
An amazing monster in a Light Deck but still pretty good in most decks.

Airknight Parshath is certainly one of the better Tribute Monsters currently out there in English at the moment. For one Tribute, 1900 ATK isn't all that bad, but the Trample ability and and the ability to be searched by the Witch, all on top of the Draw-power with the Cards makes it one certainly
worthwhile to put to use in quite a few different Deck-types.
1900 ATK isn't exactly good, and it usually won't do too much for you for a Tribute Monster, but its Effect can certainly make up for it. Airknight can work well with, of course, things like Book of Moon, to get your opponent's Monsters into DEF mode for some Airknight-Trample. Battle Damage is something that can come easy with any Trample Monster, and with Airknight's Effect of drawing a card whenever it does damage will certainly become useful in many situations. Any Monster your opponent might set face-down is not likely to have any more than 1800 DEF, so when you bring out an Airknight, you don't have too much to fear as to your opponent's Monsters, because with one swift attack by Airknight, whether it be direct, to a Monster in ATK mode, or to a Monster in DEF mode, you're likely to do some hefty damage, and thus drawing a card, which is something that will always prove to be useful.
Since Airknight is rather weak for a Tribute Monster, though, it'd be nice to have some protection for it, but for the duration that you have Airknight out on the Field, it'll most likely be quite worth it, as you'll most likely be able to do some pretty hefty damage, and get a couple of Draws out of it.

Today we get to review one of the most broken monster cards ever to be released in Yu-Gi-Oh! A personal favorite of mine and arguably the best tribute monster in the entire game – for now.
Pros:
+1900 w/ Trample takes down most things
+Card Draw
+Can be used in addition to both traps and spells.
Cons:
-1900 ATK for a tribute monster means it gets taken down by any 4 star beatdown monster
Combos:
*Book of Moon when they try to attack, then kill them next turn
*I dunno, but I like creature swapping over a Tomato, sacking the monster they gave me for an Airknight, hitting my own tomato to draw a card and special summon a don zaloog, then hit them for 1400 more and a card out of their had. Airknight is a key part of this combo.
*He is protected by traps, unlike the other best tribute monster in the game – Jinzo.
Besides, who needs combos when this fairy can stand alone? Toss him into any beatdown deck for card advantage. Play multiple copies of him with masked sorcerer to get out a ton of card drawing monsters. I’ve seen decks packing 3 Airknights do well with a simple painful choice, they give you an airknight. Then you reborn, premature, call, normal summon/whatever you want. 3 Airknights staring at you is pretty scary.
Let’s just say, what’s not to like about this guy? When an opponent reborns your airknight you KNOW game shifts in their favor if you don’t have cards to stop it. Airknight can singlehandedly refill a hand that’s been destroyed by a hand-depletion deck, and it does wonders IN these decks to fuel the engine needed to draw key disruption cards. You can play it with mirror force, imperial, call, ring, trap hole, drop off, whatever you wish while it’s out because unlike Jinzo, you can utilize all your cards.
Enough raving over this card, I’m practically drooling. This card wins games. Period. Or at least it draws the cards that do. So play at least one copy in your deck as a nice little treat for your opponent. They’ll be scoopin like raisin bran 2 scoops delicious if you get him out early enough.
Ratings:
Constructed – 4/5 some decks don’t rely on monsters/attacking to win
Limited – BROKEN if you see this card stand up and tell everyone to just go home. Card advantage is THE key to winning draft. PLUS f/d monsters are more common, as are weak attackers. Pull this card out ASAP and you’ll be running cruise control until they stop it with a trap/larger monster. 5/5 |

For awhile this card was very popular. It was said to be even better than Jinzo at one point. However that did not last long, lets see why. First of all 1900 attack isn't good for a level 5 monster. I mean, gaf, dark elf, giant orc, and any level 4 1900 can suicide into this thing, and or kill it. And since most equip cards aren't really that playable, beefing this thing up just wouldn't be worth it. However, its trample ability is why this card is decent. Also the fact that when it does damage you can draw 1 card, which is important, because replenishing your hand gives you back options. So is this mon better than jinzo? No way, Jinzo for 1 tribute negates all traps, while a simple mirror force or ring of destruction can kill this thing, and that one monster you
sacced (unless it was your opponent's due to coh or snatch steal) is wasted. So please people this card isn't bad, but please use Jinzo over this card, unless you can somehow find the space.
Tourney Play: 3/5 Its average here, not amazingly good, but can
definitely win you the game.
Casual Play: 4/5 Fun card, with trample, who doesn't love trample?
Limited play: 4.5/5 Wow here its a god send. I mean drawing cards, and whooping your
opponent low defenses, very nice here. |
