The Shallow Grave
If your deck relies on a LOT of Flip Effect Monsters,
you might want to seriously consider playing this
card. If you are running Exodia, The Shallow
Grave allows you to re-use your Witch/Sangan/Cannon
Soldier combo over and over again. If you are running
a Reanimator deck (a deck that relies on discarding
fatties like BEWD and Reborning them), you might want
to consider The Shallow Grave too.
Now, the bad part is your opponent gets to do the same
thing. Since you can only use The Shallow Grave during
your turn, your opponent would be able to get his Flip
Effect first. If he gets something like a Man-Eater
Bug, you can say Good-Bye to your new Monster...
Another card that does almost the same thing is Spear
Cretin. Sometimes, Spear Cretin would be better since
you get your Flip Effect first. But in decks like
Exodia, Shallow Grave is a lot faster. You should try
both out though.
Another helpful hint, if you don't want your opponent
get any important monsters out via Shallow Grave, just
combo it with Soul Release. It's an abusable card in
the right deck.

The Shallow Grave --
Wednesday
Introduction: Let me just use Cyber Jar again!
Normal Magic
Each player takes 1 Monster Card from his/her
respective Graveyard and
Special Summons them on the field in face-down Defense
Position.
Goods
+Gain monsters
+Reuse effect
Bads
-Opponent gets effect
-Limited to DEF only
Anaylsis: We look at a very fun card today. It it
another card to reborn
monsters. This means, that you can reborn those very
big monsters, like
Jinzo, Barrel Dragon, and even Blue Eyes. This card
also can give you the
added feature of reusing those filp effect monsters,
like Cyber Jar,
Man-Eater Bug, Magicain of Faith, etc. This works
especially well in those
deck than rely on reborning monsters, Exodia and fun
re-animater decks.
However, your opponent gets the effect also, which is
probably why this card
isn't restricted. The other big disadvantage is your
limited to using DEF
monsters, which is pretty useless in beatdown decks.
However, if used right,
this card can be very good.
Rating: Fun, yet effective card to use! However, must
be played right! This
gets a 3.4. This card can do alot of things, if you
play it right!
Conclusion: Recycling is good for you! |

Wednesday - The shallow
grave
This card was changed from the Japanese text to summon
the monsters face down. Originally, you had to put
them in face up defense. Looks like they made it a lot
better. For the English text, you and your opponent
special summon one monster from the grave in face down
defense mode.
This card is really versatile and can be used for
almost any decks. Especially exodia decks that get to
reuse their sangans and wotbf. You can also get flip
effect monsters such as cyber jar or morphing jar to
help deck out the opponent if you're running a deck
destruction deck. However, since the opponent gets the
effect too, it's not quite as useful. More often than
not, the opponent will get something like man eater
bug or some other flip effect monster. They
will be able to flip that monster before you can flip
yours, which lowers the usefulness of this card.
I give it 3/5. I dont suggest that you use this card
unless you use exodia decks as getting sangans and
wotbf is the most useful monster to use with this
card. |

Wednesday - The Shallow
Grave Monster
Reborn...ohh. If Shallow Grave was a Monster Reborn
that you put in Face-Down DEF mode than it would of
been extremely good. The added text that says your
opponent does the same thing is what hurts it.
You Shallow Grave a
Magician of Faith thinking you can win the game next
turn, then on your opponent's turn he flips his
Shallow Grave-d Magician of Faith. How convienent, he
has a Raigeki/Dark Hole in the Graveyard. Boom. Too
bad.
Amazingly that happens
alot, so don't think it won't happen to you.
The absolute BEST time
to use Shallow Grave is when you have a Nobleman of
Crossout/Tribute to the Doomed/Raigeki in your hand.
That way your opponent won't benefit from The Shallow
Grave. The problem is, now you've wasted 2 cards just
to Special Summon 1 Monster. At times when it is very
necessary, the price won't mean much.
The Shallow Grave works
well in Deck Depletion type decks. Just keep reusing
Cyber Jar and Morphing Jar or Magician of Faith (To
get back Card Destruction) until your opponent finally
decks out. Though you have to be careful because the
deck cab backfire.
And another use for The
Shallow Grave is Tribute. The problem with using this
to get something to Tribute is that your opponent
gains too much from it. And like I said above, can get
a Magician of Faith and ruin your plans.

Wednesday- The Shallow
Grave
This card is
actually kind of useless unless you're running some
kind of stall/burner deck, and even then, all they
have to do is revive a Magician of Faith, next turn,
flip, Raigeki, Heavy Storm, you lose. Works
somewhat well with a wacky Catapult Turtle/Light of
Intervention/DNA Surgery/Limiter Removal one turn KO
deck, but how often are you going to see those?
There's too many restrictions on this card to make
it horribly abuseable. You can't use it if your
opponent doesn't have an opportunity to revive a
monster (i.e. if they have 5 full Monster slots
and/or no legal monsters in their Graveyard), which
means they can always bring back a Magician of Faith
or something, and that's all she wrote.
Use it only if you intend on
winning quickly, or if they don't have some kind of
powerful Flip effect monster or fattie in their
Graveyard.
Score: 2.4
(there are better revival cards, I can think of 4,
those being Monster Reborn, Call of the Haunted,
Premature Burial, and Spear Cretin :/)

Hmm… here’s an interesting
Card of the Day…
The Shallow Grave
PSV-036
Normal Magic Card
Each player takes 1 Monster Card from his/her
respective Graveyard and Special Summons them on the
field in face-down Defense Position.
Reminds me a little of a Spear Cretin magic card…
Well, obviously, the advantage of this card is that
you can use it to use a monster’s
flip-effect a second time, or, you can create a wall
by bringing back a strong defense card such as
Labyrinth Wall or Millennium Shield, etc.
It has a lot of the same combos as Spear Cretin
Soul Release + Shallow Grave prevent your opponent
from bringing back their strongest monsters
Shallow Grave + Man-Eater Bug Stalemate, bring back
the bug, destroy your opponents monster
Shallow Grave + Cyber Jar could save you in a tight
spot
I would suggest however, that you leave this card
alone, unless you really want more opportunities to
bring back a monster.
I give it 1.5/5 or 2/5… Stick with Monster Reborn, and
the other ones that only work for you.
