Fatal Abacus
As long as this card remains face-up on the field, each time 1 Monster Card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, inflict 500 points of Direct Damage per card to the respective card owners' Life Points.
As this is a two edged sword, I don't really like this card. For the most part, this card wont give you too much LP advantage unless you plan to wipe out a few opponent's monsters with one blow and then destroy this card. But this card isn't worth it in most decks as it could end up killing you. Perhaps in a burner this card could help. On a lighter note, this would work great in a non-monster deck, which would be an incredible challenge to create.
I'd give it a 2/5. The fact that it hurts you as well almost makes this card worthless.

Friday - Fatal Abacus
Continuous Trap
As long as this card remains face-up on the field, each time 1 Monster Card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, inflict 500 points of Direct Damage per card to the respective card owners' Life Points.
Although it isn't as bad as Soul Demolition, Fatal Abacus is another Continuous Trap card that won't see much competitive play.
A deck running multiple copies of Fatal Abacus as well as tons of Monster Removal could potentially win you a game or two (Probably not against an experienced player). Besides having a little fun, what's the point in having to destroy, at most, sixteen of you're opponent's Monsters in order to win the game? Way too slow for my taste. Not to mention the chances of it being effective are slim to none.
There are much easier and more efficient ways to win a duel. And seeing how Fatal Abacus can be easily destroyed by Mystical Space Typhoon, Heavy Storm, Harpie's Feather Duster, and Jinzo, it isn't one of them.

Continuous Trap

This card is meant for straight burners. It is basically a hyped-up Skull Invitation, which does the exact same thing but only 300 damage instead of 500. It hurts both players the same but the trick is that usually people aren't expecting it, if you use this card then obviously your going to build around it. Play this with some Chain Energy, Burning Land, Fire Princess, Solemn Wishes, Bad Reaction to Simochi and maybe a couple other lp gainers like and you can burn someone quick.
The only 2 problems against this card that I see are Banisher Of The Light, because he stops things from being sent to the Graveyard so no 500 per death, and other Burner Decks will cause you to think twice about setting one down or you may loose control of you lp before they do, and I still wouldn't put this card in most deck because it won't last long enough on the field to do enough good damage.
Ratings:
Casual: 2.5 - Can be fun for a little while.
Tourney: 3.5 - Only in Burners, in a Beatdown: 1.5
ArtWork: 1- This card COULD have been drawn way better.

Sweet, alright. I am the latest edition to the CoTD team. Most people know me as Vortex XD on the Pojo Message Board, so, yes, its me. Thanks to all for getting me into this great job ^_^! Alright, back to the point, here is today's CoTD (w00t, go July 4th!!):
Fatal Abacus
Continuous Trap

Fatal Abacus can either be a card that will help you, or ultimately be your doom. It depends on the situation you are in, but, even if you are winning, this card can still not be much help. Every time a monster is destroyed, you lose 500. With all the Monster Removal in the game, is it worth the risk running this card? Nope, not at all. Additionally, if you are up against an opponent that plays 15 monsters, you will hardly get the effect of Abacus. Even if you make an attempt to make a deck around, it won't work out good. With Jinzo, MST, and Harpie's Feather Duster running around, its not worth the time to place in your deck when there are better options out there. If you want to play a Common Continuous Trap Card of some sort, go with Skull Lair.
All in all, I would recommend staying away from Fatal Abacus. Just better options out there.
