More Pitch-Black
Power Stone goodness. Or is it really?
Not for tournaments,
at least. Waaay too situational for any
competitive player to rely on. I'll take pretty
much any of the other Counter Spells (Now I
can refer to Counterspell, and it'll make
sense!) over this one.
I'm serious when I
say don't bother with this card. Even in decks
that are packing heavy Spell Counters via Royal
Magical Library or the Skilled Magicians.
If you get lucky
enough to pull one of the Skilled Magicians or
anything else that can decently provide you with
Spell Counters, then Anti-Spell becomes a decent
card in Limited. If you didn't pull any, than do
yourself a favor and keep it out of your deck.
The problem with Limited is the lack of decent
Common Spell Cards. Although, there are
still enough that provide adequate targets for
Anti-Spell.

Upsides:
Spell Stoppage
Down Sides:
Needs Spell Counters
Not easy to use effectively
In casual, this card is decent if you run a lot of
cards that involve spell counters. That’s the only
way it’s effective.
In tourneys, this card has no potential unless you
play it in a Dark Magician deck., since this deck
requires spell counters. Other than that, it’s
useless, IMO.
In sealed, I wouldn’t run it. It require all kinds
of spell counters to work. Try to avoid this card.
Overall, I give it a 1.6/10
Casual Rating: 2.5
Tourney Rating: 0.9
Sealed Rating: 1.4 (since commons are so accessible

Pros:
+stops a magic/spell card
+involves spell counters
Cons:
-waste of space
-involves spell counters :p
-there are better traps to counter spells
Combos:
*Pitch Black Power Stone
*Skilled Dark/White Magician
A straightforward card, which joins the list of traps which can negate/hinder spells. We have (so far) Imperial Order, Magic Jammer, Spell Shield Type 8, Solemn Judgment, and Magic Drain. However, anti-spell is quite different than its predecessors. You must remove 2 spell counters in order to negate the spell card. Sound easy enough. Unfortunately spell counters are hard to get out. And usually they are precious enough to keep, like breaker’s counter, or those on magical marionette, etc. However, if you have no cards in your hand, you can still stop a spell, unlike with magic jammer. And you can activate a pitch black power stone to get 3 spell counters, or just use two off of your skilled dark, etc.
So yea, this card has its situational uses, but still, they’re too much so to warrant a spot in my decks, =\.
Now if it’s a MFC only draft, then this is perhaps a card to consider using, just a little better in this limited format.
