Last Will
Normal Magic
If a monster of yours is sent from the field to the
Graveyard during the turn you played this card, you
can select a monster with an ATK of 1500 or less from
your deck and play it as a Special Summon. Shuffle the
Deck after playing the card. This card is active for 1
turn only.
Let it be known right now, you're going to see this
critter a lot. He's part of what's quite possibly the
cheesiest one turn KO there is, and I'm not
talking about Devil Franken/Cyber-Stein. I'm talking
about the Magical Scientist. I'm sure most of you know
the combo, right? If not, here's the short version:
1. Get Magical Scientist and Catapult Turtle on the
field, with at least 7001 LP left.
2. Use Magical Scientist's effect (pay 1000 LP to
Special Summon a Level 6 or less Fusion from your
Fusion deck) to Special Summon either Punished Eagle,
Roaring Ocean Snake, or Empress Judge (all with 2100
attack).
3. Launch it with Catapult Turtle (1050 damage).
4. Repeat until you either win the game or you don't
have enough LP to use Scientist. (Under these
conditions, you'll launch 7 monsters for 7350 damage)
5. Launch the Scientist. (7500 total)
6. Launch the Turtle (8000 total, good game)
The easiest way to get both of them on the field is to
use this card in combination with Cannon Soldier. If
you manage to use 2 of these with CS, it's basically
an instant-win. Activate two of these, then launch CS.
You'll be able to summon out both Scientist and
Turtle, and you'll have to do 500 less damage to win
the game.
Now, that's not the only use for this critter. Other
uses are in XYZ decks (the Y and Z components have
1500 attack each), Exodia decks, hell, use them in a
Control deck with Tomatos if you want to. If you
really want to know, when the game first started in
Japan, this card was restricted to 1 for a while, back
when they had Series 1 cards (pre-Magic Ruler). I
don't know why, but it wasn't there very long.
Dig your Last Wills out from your common piles, as you
may find use for them. I'm serious, you will.

Really, I never played Last Will when it came out,
so..
Basically, Last Will is sort of like Mystic Tomato,
except you can get any monster with an ATK of 1500 or
less.
Well, What can I say? If you're applying this card to
the next set, then it MIGHT get use. Note how Might is
in capital letters. Union (the set making up half of
Magician's Force) carries a lot of 1500 and under
monsters. Included in these are Y and Z, which make up
XYZ Caterpillar Cannon. I don't see this card getting
a whole lot of use, its a waste of Magic and Trap
slots that could be occupied by something else. I know
I'll find a more suitable answer for finding weak
cards.

Well, seeing as Pojo could use some actually decent
reviews, and since we’re actually reviewing cards that
might/will see play next set, I guess I’ll start this
up again. But seriously, wtf were some people
thinking...Gravekeeper Week? Geez... ;P

Well, you’ll be seeing this in Scientist for sure and
possibly XYZ decks as well. In a Scientist, just
summon Cannon Soldier, play 2 Last Wills, search for
Scientist and Catapult Turtle, and you win. Your
opponent doesn’t even need to take a turn. But then
again, you got to get the combo out fast or you may
die ;P.
This can be used in XYZ decks to bring out Y and Z
Cannons. And once you get at least two of them out, do
the Fusion thing and you get a stronger monster. Yay.
And hey...in Control decks, after a Torrential
Tribute, Last Will could bring out Don, Reaper, a
searcher, Tomato, etc....shrug.
Other than that, don’t use this card. It may not help
ya out =/
Rating: 4/5 in XYZ, 5/5 in Scientist, and 2/5
everywhere else.
And I swear, if some of you guys do something
ridiculously stupid, such as giving Last Will a 6/5 in
a pure Beatdown deck, I will find you and kill you in
a horribly painful way that the rest of your family
for 17 generations will still feel and cry from. So
don’t do it! |

Effect: If a monster of yours is sent from the field

Shuffle the Deck after playing the card. This card is

We have some older cards to look at this week that
will be becoming a bit more versatile and useful
within the release of Magicians Force. Last Will was a
strange card when it first hit the scene well over a
year and a half ago. Being able to summon a monster
from your deck if a monster is sent to the Graveyard
from the field, and it's not Quick-Play, so the only
time you could use it would be is you Tributed a
monster for a Tribute Summon, or another Tribute
effect (like Exiled Force, Cannon Soldier, Horn Of
Heaven Etc.), if a Fusion material monster or Ritual
Summon Tributes that are placed in/sent to the
Graveyard from the field, Suicide = run a Sangan in to
the opponents La Jinn, or to blow them up with Spell
and Trap card like Dark Hole and Torrential Tribute.
This card use to be used allot back in the day to
speed up attack forces or to give Cannon Soldier or
Catapult Turtle some Ammo but it can also give you a
free wall, with the requirement to only be 1500 ATK or
less can let you Summon Labyrinth Wall or Millennium
Shield straight from you deck without having to
Tribute any monsters.
Besides the normal magic counters, Last Will gets shut
down by Jowgen, but he doesn't see much play anyways.
I use to get allot of use out of this card when
playing 3x Cannon Soldiers and some lots of ammo and
backup, but I haven't used or seen it used in quite
some time now. I would think people to use it with
Exiled Force, Gravekeeper's Cannonholder, or Moisture
Creature yet, but deck space is tight and will get
tighter with every release.

Last Will, 9/22/03:
Some of you out there might be thinking, "Last Will?
But that card's a piece of junk!" Well, this week is
the week for cards that will become more popular once
MFC is released, and Last Will is most certainly one
of those cards...
For those of you who don't understand, I'll just spell
out the combo for you.
1. Summon a Cannon Soldier.
2. Play two Last Wills.
3. Tribute Cannon Soldier, so the Last Wills both
trigger and your opponent takes 500 damage (opp's LP:
7500). Summon a Magical Scientist and Catapult Turtle.
4. Using Magical Scientist's effect, summon three
Roaring Ocean Snakes (your LP: 5000), then tribute
them to Catapult Turtle (opp's LP: 4350). You'll have
to do some tributing in-between, of course.
5. Using Magical Scientist's effect, summon three
Empress Judges (your LP: 2000), then tribute them to
Catapult Turtle (opp's LP: 1200).
6. Using Magical Scientist's effect, summon any
2000-ATK fusion (your LP: 1000), then tribute them to
Catapult Turtle (opp's LP: 200).
7. Tribute Catapult Turtle to its own effect (opp's
LP: 0).
See? Three-card first-turn instant win. This combo
seriously puts Yata to shame. Expect Magical Scientist
decks to start popping up all over the place once MFC
gets a decent distribution.
The only real problem with this combo is that
summoning Ryu Senshi to negate traps is kinda
pointless since you won't have enough LP to finish
summoning all the fusions you need (if you pay for Ryu
Senshi's effect). That's not really a problem though;
this combo is so powerful some Japanese duelists want
Last Will to be restricted to two per deck. I mean, if
you draw this on the first turn there is NO way for
your opponent to stop it.
Other than that, Last Will's good for summoning Witch
or Sangan from your deck to search for some monsters
you need. Additionally, the card can be played in
defense, so this is also a great way to summon Spirit
Reaper, Nimble Momonga, and so forth.
You could even use this in a Gravekeeper deck and
summon an extra Gravekeeper when you tribute for
Gravekeeper's Cannonholder/Chief. It's too bad one
Last Will can only summon one monster, or else that
could also be an instant win...
All in all, this is a great card because it's -1 card
advantage for +1 board advantage if one of your
monsters is sent to the graveyard (in a tribute, or
whatever).

Monday 09/22/03: Last Will

your deck and play it as a Special Summon. Shuffle the
Deck after playing the card. This card is active for 1

I picked the cards this week and I've chosen some
lesser used ones that I think will see some resurgence
with the next set: Magician's Force.
Last Will is a highly underrated card. It seems that
you only see them in Exodia decks but with useful
monsters like Mystic Tomato making a comeback and
other monsters like Don Zaloog, not to mention the
coming of Magical Scientist (or whatever they rename
it to in Magician's Force), this card will see a lot
more play.
Anything that lets you special summon is generally a
good thing. The fact that the special summon is for
monsters of 1500 ATK or less shouldn't be a deterrent
to using this card. Cannon Soldier can launch a
monster (or itself) and then you use Last Will to get
another one out of your deck. Play Last Will then
tribute Exiled Force and you not only kill a monster
but you can bring out something nasty like Don Zaloog
to attack with. This is also very effective in a
Gravekeeper deck especially if you use Gravekeeper's
Cannonholder or Chief. But the truly deadly use for
Last Will is in a Magical Scientist deck.
Magical Scientist's effect is as follows (courtesy of
Edo):
You may pay 1000 Life Points to Special Summon a
level 6 or less Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck.
That Fusion Monster cannot attack your opponent
directly, and is returned to the Fusion Deck at the
end of the turn.
So, let's say your hand had a Cannon Soldier and 2
Last Wills. What you do is play Cannon Soldier in
attack mode, tribute itself to its effect then play
both Last Wills. What this allows you to do is special
summon Magical Scientist (300ATK) and Catapult Turtle
(1000 ATK). You can now use Magical Scientist's effect
upto 7 times to bring out level 6 fusions. The
recommended ones are Empress Judge, Roaring Ocean
Snake and Punished Eagle as they all have 2100 ATK.
After special summoning each fusion monster, you
tribute them to Catapult Turtle's effect, causing 1050
damage for each one. So, if you do this 7 times,
you've lost 7000 LP and your opponent has lost 7850.
(7350 from Catapult Turtle and 500 from Cannon
Soldier). At this point, you can tribute either
Magical Scientist or Catapult Turtle itself to get you
over 8000 damage. As you can see, this can be done in
your first turn even if you go first since you don't
need to attack with anything.
This all makes this card sound broken but remember
that it's a 3 card combo and they aren't always easy
to pull off, especially in your opening hand. The
other problem is that this is normal magic so if you
don't get your monster killed on your own turn, it's
useless. This also will not work with monster tokens
as they are not sent to the graveyard.
This is a pretty decent card in any deck and an
absolute must in a Magical Scientist deck. The
Scientist combo can be accomplished with other cards
but this is the easiest.

"It's all about monster advantage baby"
Last Will has been around ever since the game has even
started. Nice to review a card from so long ago, so
here we go..
The problem with Last will, is that first of all, It
isn't exactly going to work with today's top of the
line tournament decks. There are plenty of better
options. Mystic Tomato would also be a way better
option than relying on this card for swarming
capabilities. You just need consistency.
However, Last Will does have uses in a few of today's
decks. Most commonly Exodia. Last Will was used in the
early days of Exodia, because there simply wasn't that
many searching options via magic cards back then to
begin with. This was used to get Witch of the Black
Forest and even Sangan. Some people do this now, but I
don't know why.
Overall, Last Will is outdated. That's now though.
Magician's Force might breath some life back into this
old favorite, but I think JonBennet Ramsey has a
better chance of coming back than this card.
Rating: 2.0
Sealed Rating: This wouldn't be too bad of a draft
pick. Getting any sort of monster advantage over your
opponent is crucial in this luck-of-the-draw format.
