DuelMonster Thursday:

Trap of Board Eraser/Chalkboard Eraser Trap:
PGD-099-Super Rare
Trap Card: Counter Trap
Effect: When an effect that inflicts damage to Life Points is activated (except Battle Damage), negate the damage to your Life Points. Your opponent then selects 1 card from his/her hand and discards it to his/her Graveyard.

This is somewhat of a too situational counter trap card, since most people, at least in my area don't play many burn like cards anymore. The only ones I can see being in most deck would be Magic Cylinder, RoD, CeaseFire, Cannon Solder, Lava Golem and there's always the chance of someone having a Fire Princess Deck but at most this card will only stop one instance of damage and fore the opponent to discard 1 card. So the best bet would be to use ToBE in a Hand Destruction Deck to get its full potential going and making it more as a key to getting a Yata-Lock going.

Another part of this card that may cause it too NOT make as much of an impact as expected would be that the discarding it's not random, so the opponent can choose to discard a Sinister Serpent, Marie The Fallen One, or a high level monster to reborn. It would also suck to end up using it to stop a good amount of damage but the opponent has no cards in their hands.

I like the idea of this card, but haven't tried one out yet or seen it used, so I can't really say how useful it is at the moment. I can list all the cards that I can find that work with/against this card though:
WHEN USED AGAINST YOU:
Amazon Archer
Ameba
Attack And Receive
Bad Reaction To Simochi
Cannon Soldier
Catapult Turtle
Cobra Jar
Coffin Seller
Dark Room of Nightmare
Dragon's Gunfire
Final Flame
Fire Princess
Fire Sorcerer
Giant Germ
Gravekeeper’s Cannonholder
Gravekeeper’s Curse
Graverobber's Retribution
Gravekeeper's Vassal
Hinotama
Jigen Bakudan
Just Desserts
Lady Assailant Of Flames
Lava Golem
Magic Cylinder
Mask Of Accursed
Mask Of Dispel
Minor Goblin Official
Nightmare Wheel
Ominous Fortunetelling
Ookazi
Poison Mummy
Princess Of Tsurugi
Skull Invitation
Sparks
Stamping Destruction
Type Zero Magic Crusher
Woodland Sprite

WHEN EITHER PLAYER USES:
Burning Land
Dark Snake Syndrome
Dice Jar
Fatal Abacus
Ring Of Destruction
Skull Invitation
Tremendous Fire

WHEN ONLY SELF USED:
GraveRobber

I'm sure there may be more, but allot of them never see the light of day. Many new cards will be coming out soon that can make this card more playable though, like Wave Motion Cannon that can do X000 of damage depending on how long it's been out, so ToBE will take allot of beatings but it will also help erase the opponents hand.

Casual: 2.5
Tourney: 2.5
ArtWork: 2.5 - This is a very childish prank going on here man, they edit other cards to not "offend" people, but now kids are going to get ideas to put things over their door to fall on people. Well... maybe not.
Pegasus Trap of Board Eraser, 9/4/03:

Barrel Behind the Door's little brother (speaking of which, the Immortal of Thunder combo doesn't work. I checked). Instead of damage, you get to discard a card. This card would be nice for a hand-d/yata-lock deck since nearly every card has at least two cards that deal direct damage (cylinder, ring). A card that makes two staples near-useless AND discards a card is good....

There don't seem to be any actual combos with this card, aside from cushioning yourself from huge blasts of direct damage or to make Graverobber a half-decent card...

The problem is, this isn't a random discard. Your opponent chooses. So he could discard a card that isn't going to help him at all (NoC against an offensive deck) so there's no loss, or he could discard a heavy hitter that he can revive. That's bad. Normally, though, you'll force your opponent to discard a decent card.

This is also a nice sidedeck card for when you meet burners. Near-useless against Fire Princess burners, but the big-hit ones (the ones that use Ceasefire, Just Desserts when you have a lot of monsters, for example) are going to be dangerous without this card or Barrel.

Vodkam Thursday 09/04/03: Trap of Board Eraser

PGD-099
Counter Trap

When an effect that inflicts damage to Life Points is activated (except Battle Damage), negate the damage to your Life Points. Your opponent then selects 1 card from his/her hand and discards it to his/her Graveyard.

Barrel Behind the Door's brother. On the surface, it seems like a pretty cool card but it's pretty hard to maximize the effect.

The best part of this is that it negates effect damage so it'll save you from all those nasty Ceasefires, Rings of Destruction and Magic Cylinders among other things. It also smacks your opponent around by making them discard a card from their hand. Unfortunately, your opponent gets to choose so if they have Sinister Serpent, it won't hurt them. Even worse would be if they discard a Jinzo or some other powerhouse and reborn it.

There's not too many ways to combo this card. I suppose if you gave your opponent a Lava Golem, stole it back then activated a Trap of Board Eraser, you end up attacking for 3000 damage and making them discard a card. The big difference between this and Barrel Behind the Door is that you won't hesitate to use this on cards that deal a small amount of effect damage (ie Dark Snake Syndrome in turn 1 or 2) since the discard is really what you're looking for. Barrel is a bit of a waste to use on anything that deals less than 1000 damage. Even with the discard, it's 1 for 1 so there's no card advantage. If the discard was random, it would be a lot more playable.

Anyways, this can be a fun card, especially if you're using Dark Snake Syndrome but I don't think this is very tourney worthy. You negate effect damage and the discard won't always benefit you.
