Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

Cobraman Sakuzy
Common

Reptile / Effect Monster
You can flip this card into face-down Defense Position once per turn during your Main Phase. When this card is flipped face-up, look at all Set Spell and Trap Cards on your opponent’s side of the field and then return them to their original position.

Type - Earth / 3 / 800 / 1400
Card Number
- PGD-032

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale 1 being
the worst.  3 ... average.  5 is the highest rating

SomeGuy Friday - Cobraman Sakuzy

Weak ATK/DEF, almost useless effect, and it has to be Flip Summoned. No thanks, I'll pass.

Cobraman Sakuzy is similar to yesterday's CotD with the whole "peeking" effect. I'd much rather have a concrete answer to the current situation that I am dealing with then sit there and stare at my opponent's Spells and Traps for a turn (Because you know it's as good as dead soon after). And to make matters worse, you're opponent won't usually mass set all his Spell/Trap cards that are in his hand, so you'll only be seeing a card or two.

I don't even think any casual decks can make use of this card. What's the point?

Like I said in yesterday's CotD, Spell/Trap cards are much more random in Limited, and being able to look at them may aid you in future turns. Although, this hardly makes it worth running, unless you have absolutely no other options.

Rating:

Constructed - 1/5
Limited - 1.5/5
ExMinion OfDarkness Friday:
Cobraman Sakuzy

I use Polymerization on Guardian Sphinx and "Crap" and get this. Admittedly, knowing what ALL of your opponent's S/Ts are is better than the one set card Patrol Robo or Wdjat lets you see, but usually the cards that force themselves into DEF position like this have a Defense worthy of it. (Sphinx's 2400) Not here. The best thing this can stop is a Zaloog.

You can flip this, attack, and flip it face down...but that 800 isn't going to do much of anything. It can't even kill Sangan or Witch, and that's usually the least powerful thing that a good player will throw on the field that doesn't have a saving effect (Spirit Reaper, Fiber Jar).

But, hey -- at least it's not Skull Servant.

1/5
Otaku

Stats: Being a Level 3 is probably the best-you can be summoned without tribute (normally) and are low enough to slide under Gravity Bind.  Cobraman Sakuzy is an Earth Reptile.  There are a few cards out that can make use of Reptiles, and several that can help Earth cards.  Good thing too, as the only upside to it’s 800 ATK and 1400 DEF is that it means it can be searched for by Witch of the Black Forest and Sangan, or pulled out with Giant Rats effect.

Card Text (Effects): So, why make such a sad monster?  It has a decent trick-if it is flip-summoned, your opponent has to flip all his/her set Spell/Trap cards, let you see (of course), then flip them back down.  To make it a little more useful, the card has an effect to let flip it face down once per turn during your Mainphase.  So if you can keep it alive, your opponent can’t surprise you with set cards.

Uses/Combinations: Again, best I can think of is a Messenger of Peace or Gravity Bind decks-with that and maybe Chorus of Sanctuary on the field, your opponent would be hard pressed to kill it, at least through battle.  Of course, you could use Sasuke Samurai # 2 so you didn’t have to worry about those cards, or summon Jinzo, but both of those have their downsides too.

Ratings

Casual: 3/5-It might be decent for Messenger of Peace or Gravity Bind based decks.

Constructed: 2/5-Same deck concepts, just owning up to the fact they probably won’t stand a chance.

Limited: 2.5/5-Stats are okay here-might help once, maybe twice.

Summary

Not a bad card, but it could have used a higher DEF value.
