Stats:
Dark Sage is a Level 9 card, and since it can
only be Special Summoned through some
difficulty, the level won’t really matter (are
you telling me you would be crazy enough to use
it then for a Ritual Monster or Metamorphosis).
Being a Dark/Spellcaster
means plenty of support. It has an Attack of
2800, which is alright (given how hard this card
will be to summon), as is the Defense of 3200
(yeah, it’s high, but its
not that useful at this point).
Effect(s):
This card can only be Special Summoned if you
offer a Dark Magician on the field as Tribute
when you successfully call Time Wizard’s effect
right. You also get to select a Spell Card from
your deck ad add it to your hand. Way too hard
of a summoning requirement for what would
otherwise be a solid effect.
Uses/Combinations:
If you must run a Yugi
deck, then you must run this. That’s it. Decks
that abuse Second Coin Toss don’t need the
hassle or also running Dark Magician. Dark
Magician themed decks don’t really gain much
from adding Time Wizard or this-most tricks for
Dark Magician don’t affect Dark Sage (for
example, Dark Sage doesn’t give a bonus to Dark
Magician Girl).
Ratings
Casual:
1.5/5-Only because it would be very, very fun.
Tournament:
1.25/5-For shock value.
Limited:
N/A-First you gotta
let people draft from promos. That’s not always
impossible (mostly something I’ve done with
friends for Pokémon, everyone seems to have
ample promos). Still, even if you do, they need
to have a chance of drafting a Time Wizard and a
Dark Magician. If you do, then it becomes a
1.5/5-if it works, grabbing a Spell card of your
choice is quite sweet, but you’ll usually end up
blowing Dark Magician and Time Wizard up, and
nearly killing your LP too!
Summary
Cool idea, terrible execution.
