ExMinion OfDarkness Friday:
The Winged Dragon of Ra

Just...why...

After it was posted on the Restricted List that God cards can't be used in a Duel, they release a God card in an easily obtainable manner. THANK GOD for the "This card cannot be used in a Duel" text.

Instead of looking at the card's playability (3 sacs just for an obscenely high attack), I'd rather look at the trade value. So many kids will rip themselves off to get this off of you, you could probably just buy the game, trade the promo, sell off what you get, and you've got your money back. Plus the game.

This card gets a 0/5 because you can't use it. How can you give a card a playability score if you can't play it?

Sorry for the short reviews this week, as there really isn't that much to say about cards that are so bad.
Omega First of all I would like to stress the
“This card cannot be used in a duel”

This is pretty simple stuff; if you’re playing in an official tournament you cannot use this card.

However if you wanted to have a fun duel with your friends (and they agreed to it of course) then the following rules for Ra would be in effect

-The total attack power of Ra equals the combines attack and Defense points of the 3 monsters used in the sacrifice for this monster.

-Pay 1000 Life points to destroy 1 monster on the field.

-Lower your Life Points by any number, the number of Life Points taken are then added to Ra’s attack points.

-Sacrifice 1 monster on the field, the monster’s attack points are then added to Ra’s attack points.

-Magic, Trap, and Monster effects only last for 1 turn when used on Ra

NOTE: These are some of the effects off the top of my head, I may be wrong about some, and I might have left some of them out. ALSO NOTE that these are the effects only in fun duels.

Using the God cards in fun duels makes for some very interesting challenges. Not everyone will agree to duel you using god cards, so only use Ra (or the other gods) if your opponent agrees to the challenge.

For official Tournaments – 0/5. There is not much use of a monster you cannot use.
Fun duels – 5/5. This is one of the reasons Ra was printed in my opinion (the other is for collectors).

Just remember to keep Ra out of official duels, and keep him within the casual duels.

Also remember to have fun; this is what the game is all about. So go and enjoy using your new Egyptian God card.
Otaku

Stats: Ummm… I know this isn’t meant to be played, but shouldn’t it be an effect monster anyway?  Interestingly, it is a Attribute is Divine and its Type is Divine Beast, kinda like some cards were in the “original” (for the U.S. anyway) Yu-Gi-Oh game on the GBC.

Effect(s): Looking pretty. ;)  There are effects in the animé and manga, but it varies between the two, and I don’t know them all off the top of my head.

Uses/Combinations: First, a quick point-even if the Winged Dragon of Ra was legal to play, there is a very simple way to deal with it; Dark Designator plus Exchange.  Silly cartoon people don’t ever seem to think of that.

I can tell you how to win with this though.  Use something that gives you monster token: this is a legal choice for a monster Token.  Then power it up and crush them.  It looks like fun, really.  Use something like the good old Scapegoat/United We Stand combo to kill them with a 4000/4000 Egyptian god Card.

Ratings

Casual: 3.5/5-It is fun to win with it.

Tournament:
3/5-Less effective, but no less fun.  Go Super-Scapegoat Token. :-P

Limited: N/A.  To actually use it, you need to be using promos.  This is actually not impossible, but is quite rare.  Even if you do, it gets a 1.5/5.  Same reason as above, but you gotta draft something to give tokens.

Summary

Honestly, I kind of despise these things, as they represent that which “tainted” the Yu-Gi-Oh series: the obsession with the card game and all this mysticism garbage.  Still, it is fun to use it as a token and win.  Much like using Dan in Capcom fighting games. XD

Tranorix Friday: The Winged Dragon of Ra

Not a Card – DoD Promo

Divine/Divine
?/?/**********
"Spirits sing of a powerful creature that rules over all that is mystic."
This card cannot be used in a Duel.

The Winged Dragon of Ra is not a playable card. You can make up your own effects (or use the ones so excellently outlined in Edo’s article) for it and play casually, or you can take it to a tournament and get kicked out. Now, I AM an advocate of playing God Cards casually (I did it myself for a while; my Slifer deck was insane) but when it comes to rating them, it simply can’t be done; there are no definite effects.

No Rating.
