Ugh! More ambiguous wording and involving more cards
we don’t have… at least the two this one uses are
coming out with the other movie ones I am told…
Stats:
Continuous Trap. Normally, not so
great a thing, but depending on how you interpret the
text, this might actually be the best form for Pyramid
of Light.
Effect(s):
“If this face-up card is removed from your side of the
field, destroy "Andro
Sphinx" and "Sphinx Teleia"
on your side of the field and remove them from play.”
It doesn’t say “Removed from play” in the
“trigger” clause, so I think it means if it is
destroyed, sent back to the hand, or actually removed
from play. Now, why would you want to destroy [and
have removed from play] two monsters that, according
to Pojo’s Spoilers are
these:
EP1-EN002
Andro Sphinx
Level 10
ATK 3000
DEF 2500
Beast/Effect
You can pay 500 Life Points to Special Summon this
card when "Pyramid of Light" is on the field. This
card cannot attack during the turn it was Normal
Summoned or Special Summoned. This card cannot be
Special Summoned from the Graveyard. If this card
destroys a Defense Position monster as a result of
battle, inflict damage to your opponent's Life
Points equal to half of the ATK of the destroyed
monster.

EP1-EN003
Sphinx Teleia
Level 10
ATK 2500
DEF 3000
Beast/Effect
You can pay 500 Life Points to Special Summon this
card when "Pyramid of Light" is on the field. This
card cannot attack during the turn it was Normal
Summoned or Special Summoned. This card cannot be
Special Summoned from the Graveyard. If this card
destroys a Defense Position monster as a result of
battle, inflict damage to your opponent's Life
Points equal to half of the DEF of the destroyed
monster.
Ultra Rare
Well, for one, each of these “Movie Promo Sphinx” (MPS
from now on) cards cannot be Special Summoned from the
Graveyard. They don’t nix being summoned from
“removed from play”, so this is a way to bring them
back. The Sphinx Siblings (is that right?) are big
monsters with effects that have to sit dead a turn due
to their effects, but if they are destroyed at the
same time, then you get to summon tomorrows CotD.
Since this is a Trap, you make your opponent waste a
Spell/Trap destroying card to help you summon a big
fattie.
Uses/Combinations:
In decks built around tomorrow’s card. ;) One thing
to note is that you should be able to chain to
Spell/Trap removal and be considered face-up.
Ratings
Casual:
3/5-When you see tomorrow’s CotD, this will make some
sense. This is for a specific deck though that really
needs it, so keep in mind I am not being too kind.
Tournament:
2/5 - Also will make sense tomorrow (I hope).
Limited:
1/5 - It’s called bluffing, so at least it has a small
use. Of course, it’s not like you’d ever draft it
under normal circumstances.
Summary
Very
specific use card, but it does
it’s bizarre job. |
