ExMinion OfDarkness Thursday:
Granadora

ROFL...we already have an effectless 1900, why try to get us to use one with a drawback?

This could possibly be used if you have the monster to Tribute for it...I see its best use in a pure Water deck where Levia-Dragon and A Legendary Ocean can be out. This way, you can TRIBUTE it, so it's not destroyed, and you keep the 1,000 life. In reality this card is a risk of 1,000 life...if you pull it off, you're up 1,000 in the end. If it gets destroyed, you're down 1,000 in the end. That is, unless you pull Barrel Behind the Door out.

It has some combos, but I could still think of better cards to be summoning in a Water deck with ALO out (Giga Gaggagio, the then-Level 4 2650 attacker, anyone?)

3/5
Tranorix Granadora

Granadora is an extremely underrated monster. It's one of the few playable Reptiles in the game, and it IS very playable. Why? I'll get to that in a minute. First of all, you can see that the stats are very good. 1900 is awesome for a 4-star monster and 700 makes him Witchable. He's also WATER, so he can greatly benefit from something like A Legendary Ocean, which would enable him to attack under Gravity Bind and Level Limit.

When you Summon Granadora, you gain 1000 LP. It's not necessarily game-breaking, but it's certainly not bad! You get a 1900 ATK monster AND 1000 Life Points when you first bring Granadora to the field. Now, the detrimental effect of losing 2000 when it's destroyed is EASILY worked around. For one thing, you could use Ultra Evolution Pill (which I mentioned in my review of that card) to avoid the 2000 damage and take only the increase. You can bounce it back to your hand and just keep it there. You can summon Chaos Emperor Dragon and just send it to the Graveyard without destroying it (ironically enough, summoning Granadora will essentially make CED's effect free). Or...you can use our good, neglected, doesn't-work-with-75%-of-what-you'd-think-it-works-with friend, Barrel Behind the Door.

Yes, BBtD DOES work with Granadora. Now do you understand why it's so great? You can summon this 1900 attacker, gain 1000 Life Points, and inflict a groin-grabblingly transcendent 2000 more to your opponent when he destroys your Granadora! That's a 3000 difference in LP, all in a very solid, searchable beatstick. What's not to love?

JAELOVE

Thursday: Granadora

Rated For: Reptile/Dinosaur decks, Budget Beatdown.

A 1900 attack common you say? He sure is great in a budget beatdown deck. His effect can be worked around through tributes and such, or even through the Ultra Evolution Pill. We'll take a look.

Advantage F/H: As you may recall, Gemini Elf received a 7.5 in this category. I'll basically say Granadora is a net 1000 life point loss (since it'll die eventually) and deduct two points, but its combo with Ultra Evolution Pill and the fact you can tribute it and keep 1000 gives it a point back.                            6.5/10.

Best Draw for the Situation: Gemini Elf got a 7 in this category. Grandora loses a point for the net life point losses it can cause.                    6/10.

Attributes/Effect: He's certainly one of the best reptiles in the game after Sinister Serpent and Gagagigo. If you're running an all-reptile deck, his stats and effect are hard to beat. He is also tailor-made for the Ultra Evolution Pill.       9.5/10.

Dependability: Whichever method of dumping him, you'll probably take the 1000 point life loss. He's as dependable as any 1900 monster, however, so count on him.  7/10.

The Bottom Line: Solid, solid reptile/dinosaur based deck addition.

A BAD Score: 29/40=                                     73/100

Cards it combos with: Cannon Soldier, Ultra Evolution Pill, Compulsory Evacuation Device, Tribute monsters, Ritual monsters.
