Friday: Black Tyranno
Rated For: Reptile/Dinosaur decks.
Black Tyranno is definitely in the running for the
prestigious title of Worst Tribute Monster in the
Game. In fact, it might just make a clean sweep
of the worst ultra rare, holofoil, and tribute
monster card in the game awards. Is it that bad?
Okay, so maybe I was exaggerating. But is it good?
Nope, it's not. Don't believe me? See for yourself.
Advantage F/H:
Yes,
you are giving up two tribute monsters for a 2600
attack "powerhouse." Yes, Ultra Evolution Pill will
still cost two cards in hand to bring out said 2600
attack "powerhouse." And while 2600 attack might own
the field, it's still a weak amount for a
two-tribute monster. Friggin Metal Armored Bug, one
of the worst 7+ star monsters of all time, got a 4
for having 2800 attack. This guy gets the same. Yes,
I realize he has an effect. And yes, I'm willfully
ignoring it.
4/10.
Best
Draw for the Situation:
Does
one ever want to truly draw a two-tribute monster?
No. Do their scores suffer as a result? Yes. And
that, my friends, is precisely why nobody plays two
tribute monsters. You'll want to draw him when you
have Ultra Evolution Pill, right? Okay, give him a
point.
1/10.
Attributes/Effect:
I
would have to say that Dark Driceratops is superior
in every aspect. This guy has weak attack, an
inexplicable 1800 defense, AND a horrible effect
that was hurt even more after the Drillago/Tyranno
clarification. Weak. But, he is a dinosaur that
combos with Ultra Evolution Pill. I grudgingly give
him a 5/10 for his subtype alone.
Dependability:
You
can't use his effect if your opponent has spell/trap
zones. You can't use his effect if your opponent has
any monster in attack position. Since you're not
relying on him for effect, he's about as dependable
as any two tribute monster on the field. You're
investing an enormous cost of two cards into a 2600
attack monster that dies easily. He'll also be dead
weight much of the time. 1/10 for Ultra
Evolution Pill.
The
Bottom Line:
Dinosaurs need a REAL two tribute powerhouse.
