Raging
Flame Sprite
We start reviewing RDS cards today, December 1st,
the day that RDS cards become legal for tournament
play. And my first pick isn t even a Rare it's a
common, Raging Flame Sprite, a VERY potent monster.
Though its ATK and DEF are sub-standard, using this
guy correctly will ensure that will change.
He's FIRE/Pyro, so he benefits [from] things like
Ultimate Baseball Kid, Backfire and The Thing in the
Crater. He's also Level 3, meaning he can sneak
under Gravity Bind and Level Limit. For his effect,
think Mucus Yolk only you don't have to boost his
ATK first to use it. Granted, the first attack with
RFS probably won t do much; 100 isn't spectacular.
But then he'll become an 1100 that can attack
directly.
Attack with that and you have a 2100 that can attack
directly. Then a 3100. Then a 4100. Then you win,
and that's presuming you ve done no other damage
yet. Raging Flame Sprite, when used correctly, can
be pure EVIL. So can Mucus Yolk, but RFS is just
easier to use; and the fact that he benefits from
all that new FIRE support doesn t hurt his case.
Decks can and will be built around this guy (I'll
probably build one, when I get two more), and they
ll be a force to contend with. The Sprite also looks
quite rentsy.

Raging Flame Sprite
Hooray! We’re finally reviewing RDS cards! And what
a coincidence; today they are Tournament Legal!
Celebrate! Anyway, today’s card is Raging Flame
Sprite, a monster that after a little protection can
be a thorn in your opponent’s side.
Stats: Raging Flame Sprite has the beginning ATK/DEF
of 100/200, allowing you to search for it with
Sangan, Witch of the Black Forest, and UFO Turtle.
The base stats are crap; it’s as simple as that.
It’s a FIRE monster, which seems to be standard for
most Burn monsters. It’s also a Pyro monster, a Type
that isn’t a negative anymore. Stats – Bad.
Effect: Despite the fact Raging Flame Sprite had a
terrible base ATK of 100, the effect more than makes
up for it. For its first effect, Raging Flame Sprite
can attack your opponent’s Life Points directly, an
ability that is always enjoyable. The second effect
causes Raging Flame Sprite’s ATK to increase by 1000
whenever it attacks your opponent directly. Put
these two effects together, mix in some protection
for Raging Flame Sprite, and your opponent will be
dead in a maximum of five turns. Effect – Great.
Combos: As said before, Raging Flame Sprite requires
some protection before it can start doing some real
damage, so you’ll want to use Gravity Bind and Level
Limit – Area B to do so. And after you’ve used the
effect once, give Raging Flame Sprite a Twin Swords
of Flashing Light – Tryce to bring about your
opponent’s demise twice as fast.
Usability: A Burn or a Stall Deck would welcome
Raging Flame Sprite with open arms.
Raging Flame Sprite can be a very nice addition to
your deck, assuming it can last a few turns.
Advanced Format: 3/5. It’s borderline 3.5, but it
may not last long enough to become so.
Traditional Format: 3/5. It’s borderline 3.5, but it
may not last long enough to become so.
Overall: 3/5.
Art: 3/5. I don’t understand what it’s supposed to
be doing, but it looks cool.

Raging Flame Sprite
With how powerful Burn is in Advanced, this card's
sick and wrong.
It can hide behind G-Bind and LLAB and smack the
opponent every turn. Sure, there's the chance of a
Sakuretsu Armor, but it's not like they'll be able
to attack in response, right? 100 the first turn,
then 1100 next turn, 2100 after...
The fire-type suprisingly helps; burn decks that use
Solar Flare Dragon and UFO turtle now have another
option for UFO Turtle's effect.
The only downside is how bad of a topdeck he is, but
since when do Burn decks regularly find themselves
in topdecking situations?
Once it gets going, a beast in Burn.
Traditional: 2.5/5
Advanced: 3.75/5

Raging Flame Sprite
Rated For: Its own Deck, Fire
burner decks
Raging Flame Sprite will immediately
strike the fancy of duelists with good vision and
creativity; it’s just screaming to be placed into
its own, dominating deck. All you need is one Waboku
and you’re almost guaranteed to pump this beast up
to 2100 attack (unless they are using targeted
removal, but more on that later).
I believe the rise of the RFSprite
archetype is imminent, simply because it is really a
fabulously made card. Of course it’s going to need
protection and tender loving care, but you’re
obviously a tender loving caring Pojo reader, so
let’s test it out.
Advantage F/H:
Give it two turns and it’ll grow to
monstrous proportions. Basically, your win condition
is stall, build up strength, clear the field. RFS
will take care of the rest on its own, due to a
combination of deadly factors: attack directly and
gain bonuses for each successful attack. While it
may not provide immediate advantage, for all intents
and purposes you can treat this guy as an 1100
attack monster; he’ll become 2100 if you can save
him for one turn.
Traditional-- (More
removal) 5/10
Advanced--
6/10
Best Draw for the Situation:
You’ll want to pack this
bugger in with cards that will defend him. I would
suggest maximizing Magic Drains, Solemn Judgements,
and stall cards such as Level Limit Area B. In
situations where a semi-lock is setup, or defense is
achieved with Waboku, this guy is fantastic.
Be careful though, 100 attack monsters are often
dead draws.
Traditional-- (More
removal) 5/10
Advanced--
7/10
Attributes/Effect:
Flame Sprite is great. Search it out
with UFO Turtle, it’ll get under LLAB and Gravity
Bind, and can attack directly. The effect makes it
infinitely superior to any other direct attacker out
there, making this card the best direct attacker
period.
Traditional--
10/10
Advanced--
10/10
Dependability:
The typical burn arsenal will run 3
LLAB’s, 2-3 Gravity Binds/MoPeace, a few Wabokus,
and I’m also recommending 3 Solemns/Magic Drains.
This basically means you’ll almost always have a way
of defending RFSprite, and they’ll have to side-deck
heavily to get you. Once the support system is set,
this card will dependably do damage in large
amounts. Almost like a monster Wave Motion Cannon.
Traditional-- (More S/T, Monster
removal) 7/10
Advanced--
8/10
The Bottom Line:
Try building a RFS deck!
A BAD Score:
The best direct attacker in the game
gets a
3.38 in Traditional
3.88 in Advanced
Cards it functions well with:
Waboku, Solemn Judgement,
Gravity Bind, Level Limit Area B, Magic Drain.

Our first
RDS card of the week is reviewed the day the set
becomes tourney legal. And it's one of the cutest
cards in the set. Hey, don't look at me like that.
Sprites are cute.
Well, this is one of the best things that ever
happened to burn.
First off, it ignores opponent's monsters on the
field. Plus 1. Then it gets an attack increase
whenever it attacks. Plus 1. Then it's a Pyro/FIRE,
thus helping out both Ultimate Baseball Kid and
Solar Flare Dragon. Plus 1. Then it slips under all
the popular bind cards except for Messenger of Peace
later on (also the only optional bind card). Plus 1.
Well, it increases its own attack, does damage to
the opponent, assists other burn cards, and slips
under Gravity Bind and Area B.
And unlike the PGD version of this card, this has
some attack to begin with, and can thus increase its
own attack very easily.
If it fits in your Burn deck, USE IT.
3.8/5 Traditional
4.1/5 Advanced
