Well Thursday finally brings the first
playable tribute monster of the week! Zaborg is yet
another card from the new set. Unlike the first three,
this one actually packs a solid effect. But is it
solid enough? A BAD system will commence.
Advantage F/H:
An
interesting tribute monster. This one basically
"evens" out the field; the monster you tribute for
this guy is counterbalanced by the monster he will
destroy on the field. Then, you're left with a 2400
attack powerhouse, which equates to field advantage in
the environment. Solid.
7.5/10.
Best
Draw for the Situation:
Let's
say they have a pesky face-down monster. Want to know
what it is? Simply tribute this guy out and kill it.
Or, let's say they have some threat such as Jinzo out
on the field. Bring this guy out and kill it. It's
great, targeted removal. Unfortunately, if he's the
only monster on the field, he has to kill himself. In
addition, you might not have monsters to waste! This
gets the baseline 5/10.
Attributes/Effect:
Everything about this guy screams perfection. He has a
2400 attack, is searchable by Witch of the Black
Forest, is a light for Chaos fodder, can be
metamorphosized, and possesses a semi-decent monster
effect. The fact that his effect isn't the greatest,
along with his tribute monster status, brings him down
to a 7.5/10.
Dependability:
This
monster's dependability rating is helter-skelter,
based on the fact that the opponent needs a monster on
the field. Strictly speaking, a clear field basically
means that this guy will have to kill himself.
Therefore, you need to both have a monster on your
field to tribute and have a monster on their side of
the field to take advantage of this guy. While not
altogether unlikely, the situational nature of Zaborg
brings him down to a slightly below-average
4/10.
The
Bottom Line:
Airknight, Jinzo, Ha Des, End of Anubis and others
remain far superior to this guy. Run him if you're on
a budget or something.
A BAD
Score: 24/40= 6/10.
