Friday:
Archlord Zerato
The biggest Angel in the set. GREAT effect if you
can pull it off, but as far as special summonable
monsters go, this isn't that easy to do.
This requires two things to work: SitS on the field
AND Warrior of Zera down as well. The Sanctuary
isn't that unreasonable -- Terraforming and An Owl
of Luck can help you pull it faster.
My issue is with Warrior of Zera. It's only
searchable by Reinforcements of the Army -- no
Sangan, no Witch, no Last Will, etc...You either
have to play 3 of a non-effect 1600 attacker (EW!)
or Reinforcements of the Army to thin your Deck and
search it out.
Assuming you ARE able to get both down and the
Archlord in hand, it's a nice trade-off. You can
turn any Light monster into a Raigeki (as long as
that Sanctuary is still there.) Again, they're using
more specialized discards now in a faint (yet
hopeless) attempt to balance the game -- Cursed Seal
requires a Spell card, Spell-Shield type 8 requires
a Spell card, Double Spell, etc...but all of the
older cards don't require anything like that.
This card's also nice in that the SitS has to be on
YOUR side of the field. Meaning if your opponent
Snatch Steals it, they can't just automatically
pitch that D. D. Warrior Lady or Reflect Bounder,
kill all of your monsters, and then use it to summon
up CED or BLS. A nice protection for the Fairy
player against the archetypical Chaos deck.
Although the effect is wonderful, and 2800 is going
to hold its own against almost anything, I'm going
to have to give this card a fairly low score because
of its difficulty to summon. If cards like BLS and
CED didn't exist, then there wouldn't be this
standard of special summoning everyone has --
expecting a really easy summon with such awesome
effects.

Friday: Archlord Zerato
Zerato is definitely a powerful card. You can only
summon it when The Sanctuary of the Sky is on the
field, so that's a little restricting; and you can
only summon it if you have Warrior of Zera on the
field, which is even more restricting. But you ONLY
need to offer Warrior of Zera, which makes this
Level 8 monster a mere one tribute. That isn't bad
at all.
The stats are amazing; 2800 will overpower
everything seen in normal decks save the Chaos
monsters, and 2300 will also stand up to a lot
(though I don't see why you'd put this guy into
DEF).
The effect is also incredible. I like to think of it
as "While this card is face up on the field, every
LIGHT monster in your hand is treated as 'Raigeki'".
Now THAT is useful. Of course, I wouldn't play
Zerato in any deck other than a Fairy deck; he's
just too hard to use otherwise.

Archlord Zerato is simply an amazing monster in an
Angel deck. A 2800 attack monster for a simple
tribute is useful in just about any deck.
It’s very easy to summon Archlord Zerato due to the
fact it only requires Warrior of Zera as a tribute.
So just summon Warrior of Zera, then immediately
sacrifice it to summon Zerato. However The Sanctuary
in the Sky must be on the field or else you won’t
meet Zerato’s summoning requirements.
Zerato has a built in Raigeki effect that is
activated by discarding 1 light type monster from
your hand. This can be used strategically by
discarding Airknight Parshath or Guardian Angel Joan
so they can be revived later on without tributes.
And once again this effect requires The Sanctuary in
the Sky to be on the field.
Unfortunately both Zerato and Warrior of Zera have
stats too high to be searched through Witch of the
Black Forrest, and Sangan. But Warrior of Zera has
the added bonus of being a Warrior, so you might
want to include 1 Reinforcements of the Army to
fetch him when the time is right.
Archlord Zerato is a welcome addition to any Angel
deck. Even ones that don’t revolve around life point
gain, as he doesn’t have any penalties for having
your life points lower than your opponents.
I’m giving Archlord Zerato a 4.5/5. Like most of the
cards this week, he needs The Sanctuary to use his
full potential, but the benefits are worth it in the
end. |

Finally, for this angel week, we've got...Archlod
Zerato. I tried this beefy angel out a few weeks ago
in a Japanese Deck (note: ban lists were enforced in
my duels). Let's just say I took the deck apart that
night.
Zerato's effect is simply amazing. Simply discard a
light monster from your hand, and your opponent's
monsters blow up in a fury of thunder and lightning,
struck down from the heavens! The requirement of
having Sanctuary on the field isn't too hard to
fulfill either. Either way, you have a massive
attacker out. However, summoning it is the problem.
This requires you to have 3, count it, THREE CARDS
in order to summon this monster. You need Warrior of
Zera successfully summoned, Sanctuary in the Sky on
the field, and Zerato in your hand. The good news is
that pulling this angel out on turn 1 isn't
hard...the bad news is he can't be revived, meaning
you need a slew of negation to protect Zerato...My
Body as a Shield anyone? Still, the cost is rather
large, and currently, it's too big of a drain on
your hand.
Constructed: 2/5
Limited: 1/5
Don't even try for this in limited. The requirements
for you to summon this are too big of a drain in
draft. If you're drafting this, it's purely to add
to your collection. It's dead weight in your deck. |

Archlord Zerato
Zerato isn't bad, but he's not good. As you can see
I am very disappointed
in this set, but of course I'll keep going while
barfing along the way.
Zerato is a Light, Fairy, 8 Star, with 2800 atk, and
2300 defense. Whats
interesting about this card is the way it needs to
be summoned. It, "cannot
be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be
Special Summoned except by
offering 1 face-up "Warrior of Zera" on your side of
the field as a Tribute
while "The Sanctuary in the Sky" is on the field."
Oh and looky what it can
do, "If "The Sanctuary in the Sky" is on your side
of the field, discard 1
LIGHT Monster Card from your hand to the Graveyard
to destroy all monsters
on your opponent's side of the field."
VERY iffy in my opinion. Its made for more of a fun
deck. You can REALLY
put your D.D. Warrior Ladies to use in a "Light"
deck. Uh, yeah.
