Wednesday: Wild Nature’s Release
Today we break from the Ancient Sanctuary trend as
we review Wild Nature's Release, a Super Rare from
Invasion of Chaos. Now, who else can see that this
card's only use is in a Beast Deck? Quite obviously,
you would not want to play this card unless you are
running a fair number of Beasts or Beast-Warriors,
and even then it's a bit risky. The only typically
played cards this works with (that I remember
off-hand) are Berserk Gorilla and Mad Dog of
Darkness.
I see this card as a weaker version of Limiter
Removal, but for Beasts. It only works for one
monster, the boost will most likely be less than
Limiter's double, and it's a Normal Magic, unlike
Limiter which is a Quickplay. That aside, it can
still be pretty effective, especially when combined
with a big monster while you have Enraged Battle Ox
on the field. Giving a huge monster a trample effect
is always something positive.
This card's real use, I feel, is to be combined with
a card not yet out in English: Igzarion Universe, a
Level 4 1800/1900 Beast-Warrior (See DM7's article
for more information:
http://www.pojo.com/yu-gi-oh/FeaturedWriters/DM7FGD/2003/9-10-03.shtml).
The potential here is obvious. Use WNR on him to
increase his ATK to 3700, use the effect to reduce
it (but he'll still be at a respectable 3300), and
get a 3300 ATK monster with trample for the turn.
It's a nice use, but still, WNR is an iffy card.
I certainly wouldn't run it outside of a Beast Deck,
and even in one I wouldn't go overboard. Make sure
you're running some Mystik Woks if you decide to use
Wild Nature's Release...

Wednesday:
Wild Nature's Release
Now, for the most perverted-named card in the set.
;)
Can we say overrated? I knew you could...This is a
card that players often get tricked into playing if
they decide to try and built a Beast deck. Don't get
me wrong...if all of your beasts have Trample
because you have Enraged Battle Ox out, adding
attack is a great thing. But except for Manticore of
Darkness, you can get the same attack boost from Axe
of Despair, or United/Mage (with at least 2 of its
requirement out) without having to lose your monster
at the end of the turn.
I would honestly play Axe over this for the
stability. If this were Quick-Play, or it covered
ALL your beasts, or also gave them trample, then I
would say different because Manticore was MEANT to
die (and come back)...

Wild Nature's Release
Toned down version of Limiter Removal.
Pros:
it can make huge creatures. Turns a Dog into a 3400
attacker, Berserk into a 3000 attacker, and Enraged
into a 2700 attacker with Trample. All of these
creatures would be Tramplers if Ox was out, too. It
can be the finishing touch for your opponent. This
card also combos nicely with Mystik Wok. It only
destroys one of your creatures, unlike the rest with
Limiter Removal.
Cons:
It destroys your monster, leaving you with -1 field
advantage. The creature you use it on could have a
crappy defense, too. This only boosts one creature,
unlike Limiter Removal, which pumps all machines.
Overall, I give this card a 6/10. I would not choose
this for a Beast deck unless it was casual. Not a
Tourney-Worthy card, IMO. |
