                          Stats:

                          Dark
Mirror Force is a Trap.  Since this is a card that
only goes off when you are attacked, being a Trap is
fine.  Note that this is only because of the cards
                          rather limited abilities.

                          Card
                          Text (Effects):
When your opponent’s monster declares an attack, this
card can be activated, removing all of his/her
monsters that are in DEF mode from play.  Personally,
I don’t care for this card too much.  First, it
doesn’t negate the attacking monster’s attack, which
means you still take a hit, making this not a
defensive Trap with possible massive monster removal,
like the normal Mirror Force, but possible mass
monster removal [from play].  This is restricted to
DEF only position monsters, which means more often
than not, the only use this thing has it baiting an
                          opponent to waste an MST.

                          Uses/Combinations:

                          The
only use I can think of is if you can combo it with a
card that you can chain to Dark Mirror Force to switch
every one of your opponent’s monster’s into DEF
position.  Unless your opponent is running Dimension
Fusion, this turns the combo into a “Super Mirror
Force”, almost worth the effort.  Off the top of my
head, I can only think of a 3 card combo for it.
First, you need the following three Traps set and
ready: Dark Mirror Force, DNA Surgery, and Dragon
Capture Jar.  When your opponent attacks with a
monster, you activate Dark Mirror Force.  If they do
not chain anything to it (or at least if they do not
chain anything that makes the combo pointless or
illegal), follow up with either the DNA Surgery or the
Dragon Capture Jar.  Again, if your opponent does not
choose to respond with anything that would prevent you
from activating it (or make the activation pointless),
follow up with DNA Surgery or Dragon Capture jar
(whatever one you didn’t activate in the last
link).  If they don’t negate any part of that, then
DNA Surgery makes all the face-up Monsters into
Dragons, and Dragon Capture Jar kicks them into DEF
mode (note: since Dragon Capture Jar is a continuous
effect, the order of those two Traps can be changed).
Since the monster that attacked is now in DEF mode, it
can’t follow through and the attack effectively
negated, and all monsters on your opponent’s side of
the field should be removed from play-unless they had
some Face-down ATK position monsters, which is a feat
in and of itself.  Since there was an attacking
monster when you activated Dark Mirror Force, I don’t
believe that card would fizzle.  Similarly, even if a
re-play is triggered by switching the face-up monster
to DEF mode, that shouldn’t matter either.

                          If
there is an easier way to do this, then great, you can
do that.  As for me, if I want to do a massive amount
of monster removal against my opponent, I’ll use a
card that nukes all of his/her monsters, and follow up
with a Soul Release on my turn.  If I have to do it on
his/her turn, then I will risk a Fiend Comedian.

                          Casual:
1.75/5-Why?  Just because it looks fun to do once or
                          twice and is probably demoralizing.

                          Tournament:
1.25/5-Same as above, but less likely to work.

                          Limited:
3/5-This cards salvation.  In this format, it is very
likely for your opponent to have some DEF monsters on
the field.  Just remember that this set specializes in
cards that have effects or are affected by removed
                          cards.

                          Summary

                          Dark
Mirror Force is an interesting concept that went
awry.  If it at least negated the attack as well, it
could have some real use.  As is, its looks to just be
for games when you are real bored.  If another
reviewer or reader comes up with a good combo, that’s
                          great: I don’t expect that however. |
