Stats:
Judgment of Anubis is a
Counter-trap. Many aren’t really familiar with this
kind of card, and that’s cost me games-usually because
I run Solemn Judgment (possibly the most useful
Counter Trap), usually in large quantities, and I miss
it when people illegally chain to it. Since
Counter-traps are Spell Speed 3, they can only chain
with each other. Based on this cards effect, using it
from hand might be nice, might be pointless, so
overall, I am going to say that this is the best type
of card for it to be.
Card
Text/Effect(s):
You use Judgment of Anubis
to negate the effect of a Spell card controlled by
your opponent that would destroy at least one of your
Spell or Trap cards on the field. You also have to
discard a card from your hand to activate it. Then,
if your opponent has a face-up monster, you get to
destroy it and inflict LP damage equal to that
monster’s ATK. This is a complicated effect, and yes,
it can be wasted. While it’s nice that it activates
when the card could otherwise be destroyed, if your
opponent has no monsters and you have no other Spell
or Trap cards, the effect is completely useless.
Normally, I MST/HFD before I summon.
Uses/Combinations:
If you have a deck that focuses on keeping certain
Spell/Trap Cards alive, then this might be good.
Certain burn decks, Like Lava Golem might benefit from
this as well.
Ratings
Casual:
3/5-It might just be me, but it seems like monsters
remain on the field longer in this format.
Constructed:
2/5-When it goes off its great.
In many decks more suited to casual, there is a decent
chance your opponent will manage to keep a monster on
the field longer. Thus, with all the S/T removal in
the format, there is a good chance this will go off.
Limited:
1-3/5-Sorry for giving a range, but this card really
depends upon what it is drafted with-if it is with
Starters, where you opponent will probably be able to
have one potent monster on the field and will hold
onto that one bit of S/T removal for when that occurs,
this could win you the game in one hit given the lower
starter LP. In draft on its own, I don’t think the
chances of most opponents having S/T are likely, so it
becomes almost useless.
Summary
A
good concept, but a bit weak. |
