Stats:
Enraged battle Ox is a Level 4 with no Special
Summoning restrictions or requirements, so it
can be dropped into play with ease. An Earth
monster, it has some good Beatdown support, like
yesterdays card. Beast-Warriors of note include
Manticore of
Darkness and Mystical Knight of Jackal, so this
type has some solid representatives.
Enraged battle Ox has a respectable ATK of
1700. On its own, this would not cut it, but as
we will see, this creature has a beneficial
effect. The Def of 1000 is fine, though again,
I would prefer 1500, since it would be better
but still a legal target for Witch of the Black
Forest to search out.
Effect(s):
This cards grants Trample to all Beast, Beast
Warrior, and Winged Beast type monsters. This
is fantastic. Even if it was just applied to
itself, it would be a candidate for best
Trampler (most
others have draw backs, lower stats, or require
tribute). Applying to others, even of limited
Types, is wonderful.
Uses/Combinations:
If you use Beast, Beast Warriors, or Winged
Beast, you should almost certainly run this,
unless they never attack. Even if it is in a
Gravity Bind deck and Enraged Battle Ox itself
can’t attack. It’s quite simple. Less obvious
is that it’s one of the best
Tramplers anyway, so
if you lack it in a deck, you should consider
running this unless the deck matches up better
with say Airknight
or Spear Dragon.
Ratings
Casual:
4.75/5-And I almost gave it a five, since any
better, and I fear it would be broken. This
card is one of the two that have made various
Beast-types into a formidable deck. I think
only Manticore of
Darkness has done more to help.
Tournament:
4.25/5-Same as above, but competition from
Control and Chaos decks takes it down a peg.
Limited:
5/5-Top pick. There
are a lot of the assorted Beast-Type monsters in
this set, and this gives them Trample, so an
opponent that gets down will probably fail to
get back up-can’t hid behind setting chump
blockers. Even if you have no other
Beast-types, take it.
Summary
Almost too good.
Trample is something never to underestimate.
That Fiber Jar that would have saved your
opponent, maybe given them the win? Doesn’t
matter-you just took out
the rest of their LP anyway.
