Tribute Doll
Today we review Tribute Doll, an interesting Spell
from Magician’s Force. It doesn’t see much play, and
I can sort of see why, but we’ll get to that later.
To activate Tribute Doll, you tribute a monster.
That’s simple enough. If you want, you can use a
Sheep Token, so that’s good. Then, you can Special
Summon a Level 7 monster – but only if that monster
could be Normal Summoned otherwise. So it’s good for
getting out Dark Magician.
You may notice an inherent flaw with this card.
You’re not really gaining any advantage; in fact,
you’re losing some, since the monster you summon
can’t attack that turn. Instead of tributing two
monsters, you’re tributing one alongside this card,
so you’re losing two either way. And at least when
you tribute monsters, you get to attack with them
without waiting a turn.
That being said, this card does have uses. You can
use it with Soul Exchange or Sheep Tokens to ease
the pain, so to speak. You can also use it to bring
out Dark Magician and just use cards like Thousand
Knives and Dark Magic Attack, so the not-attacking
thing won’t hurt quite as much. I’d avoid this
outside of that kind of deck, however.

Tribute Doll
Welcome to No Particular Theme Week! This week we’ll
be reviewing cards that were requested by… someone.
Today’s card is Tribute Doll, a Spell with limited
uses.
At the cost of Tributing a monster on your side of
the field, TD allows you to Special Summon one
Normal Summonable Level 7 monster from your hand.
Now other than the fact that the monster summoned
through this effect can’t attack during the turn
it’s summoned, this effect has one other problem; a
lack of worthwhile monsters. Currently, the only
monsters you may want to summon via TD are Barrel
Dragon, Black Tyranno, Buster Blader, Dark Magician,
Emes the Infinity, Guardian Angel Joan, Insect
Queen, Mystical Knight of Jackal, Red-Eyes B.
Dragon, and the three Gate Guardian pieces.
Now don’t get me wrong, that’s – 1, 2, 12 great
monsters… that never see much play. But let’s
pretend that they are popular monsters, mkay? With
TD you can summon one of these Level 7 monsters on
your first turn; just summon a monster, Tribute it
with TD, and summon a beatstick. Despite TD’s
potential, three factors give it a low score IMO:
very few worthwhile monsters, the drawback of the
monster being unable to attack, and the fact that
discard + revive is much more useful. Because of
these reasons, TD is best reserved for casual Decks.
Advanced: 2/5. The monster should last long enough
to get an attack in…
Traditional: 2/5. The monster will probably be
destroyed before it can attack. Be careful…
Overall: 2/5.
Art: 2/5. Looks like someone was using it for
archery practice…

Tribute Doll
This card was close to being semi-playable.
This card is what I'd call a negative
overextension. Overextending your hand onto the
field is mostly associated with Warrior decks;
Marauding Captain + something + United We Stand
for quick shots at the LP. Tribute Doll costs 3
cards to get a Lv. 7 monster out -- The monster
itself, the Tribute Doll, and the Lv. 7 monster
from the hand. And on top of that, it can't
even attack that turn!
There are a lot of 2-trib monsters with great
effects; however, they fall outside of Tribute
Doll's power. DMoC? Level 8. Phoenix? Level
8. If you could summon BLS normally, too bad --
he's Level 8 too.
This card came seriously underpowered. If they
had either allowed the monster to attack that
turn or removed the Level 7 restriction, then
the card wouldn't be so horrible. But as it is
now, it's simply another Normal Rare thrown into
trade binders, hoping to catch a newb wanting to
special summon their Dark Magician.

Tribute Doll
Effect: Tribute one monster on your side of the
field to bring one Level 7 monster to the field.
This monster cannot attack this turn.
Welcome to fan request week all you loyal Pojo CotD
readers!
Well, this card I sadly see having little to no
purpose. Since a Level 7 monster requires two
tributes already, you're still giving up the same
resources (two cards) to summon the same monster.
Plus, you also have to have the monster in hand
already.
It would be better if the monster could be searched
out from the deck, but as it is, the card isn't that
great. Even worse, the monster can't attack in the
turn you summon it, giving it a whole turn to be
destroyed by the opponent.
The only real use I could find for this card was in
a dedicated Gate Guardian deck. All three pieces of
the GG are Level 7, and it wouldn't be a big deal if
they couldn't attack the turn they were summoned
thanks to their effects.

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
Also, we were asked to review Winged Guardian Dragon
of the Fortress #1 some time ago, so I'll take care
of that as well for one lucky fan.
Winged Dragon is a normal monster. Level 4 is meh.
Dragon means lots of support, but for him, it
doesn't really matter. Wind is meh. 1400 attack is
pretty low and 1200 defense is equally craptacular.
Sorry to be short, but I see no good.

Tribute Doll
works with these monsters:
Barrel Dragon
Behemoth the King of All Animals
Big Koala
Black Tyranno
Buster Blader
Dark Magician
Emes the Infinity
Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast
Gaia The Fierce Knight
Garnecia Elefantis
Guardian Angel Joan
Harpie's Pet Dragon
Hyozanryu
Insect Queen
Kazejin
Launcher Spider
Levia-Dragon - Daedalus
Maju Garzett (with 0 ATK)
Manga Ryu-Ran (You have to have Toon World on the
field)
Metallizing Parasite - Lunatite
Mikazukinoyaiba
Mystical Knight of Jackal
Red-Eyes B. Dragon
Ryu-Ran
Sanga of the Thunder
Seiyaryu
Serpent Night Dragon
Slot Machine
Suijin
Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight
Sword Hunter
Wingweaver
Zoa
Cutting out the Normal (Vanilla) Monsters, we are
left with 38 cards. Cutting out the monsters that
are completely and totally useless, we are left with
Mystical Knight of Jackal, Levia Dragon – Daedalus,
Guardian Angel Joan, Fusilier Dragon the Dual-Mode
Beast, Behemoth the King of All Animals and Barrel
Dragon. This lets you get a monster out a turn
sooner than you'd be able to.
Reasoning doesn't exist, apparently. Neither does
Monster Gate. But wait, they do. That means that
this little fellow doesn't do anything at all. He
sits there and looks stupid while better cards (even
A Hero Emerges, for crying out loud!) get no
attention with him.
It's overplaying. You're putting too many resources
into too weak a lead – even Horus is worth the time
it takes to get out, as it has a beautiful LV6 and a
gamestopping (or at least hindering – Horus is not
immune against 2/3 of the removal in the game) LV8.
