Spiritual Earth Art – Kurogane
We open off the week with Spiritual Earth Art –
Kurogane, a Trap from the new Cybernetic Revolution
expansion. This is doubtless a card with quite a bit
of potential. It’s chainable, but it forces you to
tribute an EARTH monster from your side of the field
to activate.
Then, you can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower
EARTH monster from your Graveyard. Some good ones
are Goblin Attack Force, Berserk Gorilla, Exiled
Force, Injection Fairy Lily, Giant Rat, Des Lacooda
(trust me, this works much better than most people
think), Pyramid Turtle…the list goes on and on.
And the tribute? You might as well forget it even
exists, what with Scapegoat everywhere. Tribute a
Sheep Token and you’re good to go. I’d also
recommend Skull-Mark Ladybug – tribute that and you
gain a nice 1000 Life Points. Anyway, this is a
great card for EARTH Decks.
CCGCC: 2.5/5
EARTH Deck: 4.5/5
OVERALL RATING: 3.5/5

Spiritual Earth Art -- Kurogane
Hey, welcome to mostly "Spiritual Trap" week. This
week we're reviewing a few traps from CRV, along
with 1 other card.
This card has its uses, unlike most of the filler we
deal with. You give up an Earth monster to revive a
Lv. 4 Earth monster. The first use that comes to
mind is Goblin Attack Force -- you attack with one,
when they go to ATK the one in DEF, you revive
another one.
...oh, remember, Scapegoats are Earth-type. Yet
another advantage to this, giving up a fake monster
for a real one -- just remember that there's like a
99.99% chance Goats are getting restricted unless
UDE puts us on a completely different ban list.
Traditional: 1.25/5
Advanced: 2.5/5

Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane
Finally, Sand gets to pick some cards for the CotD
Reviews. And since I like using different weaker
themes and making them competitive, I decided to do
a week based on five different themes: Earth, Water,
Fire, Wind, and Necro. And with our powers combined,
I am...er, yeah I'm not actually going to say the
whole thing, because that would just be raunchy. =/.
Stupid flamboyant super hero with his cheesey lines
and his...his cheesey lines...
Anyways, our first card is Spiritual Earth Art -
Kurogane. Again, I'll let the other reviewers fill
you in on the basics, so that'll save me time on
packing for Indy xD.
-Can be slapped into Goat Control decks to further
abuse the tokens. Bringing back DDA, Lily, Giant
Rat, Exiled, Berserk Gorilla, etc could be rather
sexy.
Especially with Exiled; you could literally use
Exiled Force six times easily (normal summon,
PBurial, CotH, and three of these).
-Makes Creature Swapping for a Scapegoat token less
painful? Shrug.
-Can remove the target of an opponent's m/t and
replace it with another monster; nice during the
Battle Phase.
Rating: 4/5. Can be very effective, especially in
this metagame.

Coin Flip |
The
theme for this week is... Well, I'll leave Snapper
to come up with an interesting quip, but we're
reviewing the Arts and a semi-special card on
Friday. It's one that decks are built around.
This one is very, very good tech in more than one
deck. Let's go over individual levels of EARTH
monsters.
8: You can get three special summon only monsters,
Ancient Gear Golem and Perfect Machine King. Pass.
7: Behemoth the King of All Animals and, to a lesser
extent, Mechanical Hound. Moving along.
6: At this point, I feel as though I would be
wasting my time and your time with commentary. Here
is a lovely list.
Ancient Gear Beast
Criosphinx
Dark Driceratops
Granmarg the Rock Monarch
Hieracosphinx
Machine King
Mystic Swordsman LV6
5: The good ones here are Guardian Sphinx, Freed the
Matchless General, and actually that's about it.
Big-Tusked Mammoth
Enraged Muka Muka
Freed the Matchless General
Ghost Knight of Jackal
Giant Axe Mummy
Guardian Grarl
Guardian Sphinx
Hade-Hane
Lava Battleguard
Master Monk
Millennium Scorpion
Nobleman-Eater Bug
Swamp Battleguard
Two Thousand Needles
4: For the sake of not destroying the page lengths,
I've edited out the cards noone gives a damn about.
Amazoness Chain Master
Bazoo the Soul-Eater
Berserk Gorilla
Big Shield Gardna
Chiron the Mage
D. D. Assailant
Drillroid
Enraged Battle Ox
Exiled Force
Goblin Attack Force
Goblin Elite Attack Force
Hyper Hammerhead
Indomitable Fighter Lei Lei
King Tiger Wanghu
Mystic Swordsman LV4
Obnoxious Celtic Guard
Prickle Fairy
Protector of the Sanctuary
Pyramid Turtle
Rescue Cat
Skull-Mark Ladybug
Stone Statue of the Aztecs
I was very lenient with this list. The more
important ones there are Exiled Force and Berserk
Gorilla/Enraged Battle Ox/King Tiger Wanghu kinda.
Level 3: Brevity is the soul of wit.
Des Wombat
Dream Clown
Injection Fairy Lily
Level 2:
Morphing Jar and Mystic Swordsman LV2. =\
Level 1:
Cat's Ear Tribe
Milus Radiant
Neko Mane King
This could work very well provided its in the right
deck. Special Summoning monsters during the Battle
Phase is at a heavy premium, and this provides that
premium. You could tribute a Goblin Attack Force
that's been used up for a Dark Catapaulter, or a DDA
for an Exiled Force if you REALLY need the removal
that turn. Or just a GAF for a GAF to hit for a lot
of damage all at once.
EARTH decks: 3.7/5 (Summoning during the Battle
Phase is at a heavy premium)
General: 2.5/5 (this is assuming Gorillas/EBO/Wanghu's
are being used)

Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane
Welcome to a week that is (for the most part)
focused on the Spiritual Arts released in CRV.
Today's card is the Earth variation of the Spiritual
Arts, Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane, the most
useful of the four.
At the cost of Tributing an EARTH monster on your
side of the field, Kurogane allows you to Special
Summon a Level 4 or lower EARTH monster from your
Graveyard that isn't the Tributed monster. The uses
for Kurogane should be rather obvious; it's another
form of recursion for Decks with a large assortment
of EARTH monsters. So by using Kurogane, you can
sacrifice your feeble Nimble Momangas and Scapegoats
in order to summon your almighty Berserk Gorillas,
Enraged Battle Ox, D. D. Assailants, Drillroids,
King Tiger Wanghus, and a large assortment of
under/non-used EARTH monsters.
It might be worthwhile to note though that the
designers did not want Kurogane to become overly
useful, so they eliminated the ability to attack
with a Goblin Attack Force, sacrifice it, revive the
same Goblin Attack Force, and attack again. Instead,
if you so wish to do 4600 points of damage unto an
opponent with a clear field, you will need a GAF in
your Graveyard prior to Kurogane's activation. This
isn't a con though; it's more of me just pointing
out that the higher ups don't want to make a new
staple.
Despite Kurogane's uses, there is one thing standing
in its way of being seen quite often on the
Tournament scene: Competitive duelists only use
monsters that a) help Chaos, or b) stop Chaos. And
because the only EARTH monsters that fall into this
category are DDA and Scapegoat, Kurogane's current
chances at seeing play aren't high. This does not
mean however that Kurogane has no uses; in a Beast,
EARTH Warrior, Rock, Amazoness, or plain old EARTH
Deck, Kurogane can be an excellent addition to your
Trap line-up.
But until one of these Deck-Types wins a Regional, a
SJC, or EARTH monsters become CC after the October
Ban List, don't worry yourself at night about your
opponent's three extra forms of recursion.
Advanced (Beast Deck): 4.5/5. You may have
difficulty making room for it, but it will serve you
well.
Traditional (Beast Deck): 4/5. Monster Reborn may be
slightly more welcoming… Advanced (Beast Deck):
4.25/5.
Art: 3/5. I like the Charmers, just not Aussa.

Dark Paladin |
Welcome to a week of what I'd like to call NO
MONSTERS ALLOWED as we are only reviewing Trap
and/or Magic cards. Or, more accurately, four traps
and ONE magic card.
Spiritual Earth Art-Kurogane
Tribute 1 Earth monster on your side of the field.
Special summon one Level 4 or lower Earth monster
from the Graveyard except the tributed monster.
Well, this isn't a bad card, but let's look at it
for a minute. You're giving up two cards--the
monster you tribute and the trap itself, just to
special summon a monster from your graveyard.
You could tribute something like a weak Maruading
Captain and summon a Goblin Attack Force for a
second attack or something if you really wanted to.
I guess there isn't a reason not to run it (outside
of bad hand advantage) in your Earth deck.
Field advantage evens out since your number of
monsters remains the same. You might be plus one if
you use this and then summon another monster
normally in the same turn. If you have room to try
it, go ahead.
Ratings:
Traditional Earth: 3.1/5
Advanced Earth: 3.6/5
You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane
Group: Trap Card
Type: Trap
Tribute 1 EARTH monster on your side of the field.
Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower EARTH monster from
your Graveyard, except the Tributed monster.
Todays CoTD is Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane. Even
though this week was picked by Sand-Trap, don't
worry, it isnt reaking of cards like BLS-EoTB etc.
;D.
Althought this card seems like complete crap at
first, it shows promises. Maybe use scapegoats as
your free tribute, that sounds nice ^_^. Especially
seeing how we have MANY nice Lv4 and Lower EARTH
monsters, It can easily work! Very nice indeed.
Obviously this card can fits in Beast type decks, I
would assume, End phase Goats, on your turn, play
this, bring back Exiled, tribute, its ok ;p. Seems
to me I may be missing something here, but it is
quite early and I am very tired xD. Ugh. 'Course the
other reviewers probaly have a more in depth review
of this, but I can't think of how else it would
work. Kek. Sorry -_-a.
Traditional: 1/5 Meh.
Advanced: 2/5 Meh. (Again ;p)
