Mystic Swordsman Lv. 2

Say hello to that extra copy of Nobleman of Crossout that UDE took away from us. Kinda.

People are relying more on face-downs than with the last format with the restriction of Nobleman of Crossout. Players wanted a quick answer to stop opponents from hiding behind Reapers and the like, and here it is. At 900 ATK, he won't be on the field long, but he gets under Trap Hole, Bottomless, etc. If you have a way to protect it for a turn, it may end up forcing your opponent to make a bad play they wouldn't otherwise. That, and using a Sakuretsu Armor on this thing just feels like a complete waste.

It fits perfectly in Toolbox and any deck running 2 copies of Reinforcement of the Army. If you're running 2 RotA, 1 of this is all you really need mained (with maybe 1 extra copy sided against the burner.)

Mystic Swordsman LV2 vs. Drillroid is the only point of this review.
You know that monsters are good. You know that monsters that kill other monsters for free are better. You know that MSLV2 is a weakling, but that unlike Drillroid, he can kill a monster without flipping it up. I mean, it sucks to hit a Magician of Faith or Magical Merchant with Drillroid. Usually most decks only have room for one. Which one do you main?

If your opponent likes Reapers or Gravekeeper's Spies… Go for Drillroid. If not, hit up on that friendly 900/0 pictured above. Try both out, one in side and the other mained.

Just know that LV2 is the most useful monster ever against certain theme decks… One should be sided, at least. This card is good. It might die, but it's really easy to get a 1 for 1, and often some sort of advantage with this card.

sHecKii Mystic Swordsman LV 2

Hey guys, sorry for not doing any articles/deck fixes/card of the day for a LONG time now. School has been very challenging and it’s hard to find time to dedicate couple hours a day for what I would like to do for you guys. Anyways, I’m back for awhile and hopefully you guys will enjoy my writings once again. Well here’s the card review!

I’ve heard so many nicknames for this card: Slash, Ducky, MS 2 (well not much of a nickname but...), “kill-face-down,” etc...

Basically what it does is...well kill face down monster without the effect going off (Sangan being one of the common exceptions). Face down DD Assailant? Meet your other Warrior Tool Box buddy Mystic Swordsman LV 2. Face down Dekoichi? Meet your friend LV 2. Key words to consider are FACE DOWN though...you can NOT destroy a face UP defence position monster with Swordsman’s effect. Now if the defence of the face UP monster is less than 900, then the monster is destroyed just like any other monsters battling it out.

I’m sure most of you guys have played this card already; after the new banlist restricting Nobleman of Crossout down to 1 copy, most people wanted to find answers to destroy face down monsters and Mystic Swordsman LV 2 came into mind.

You know what I find odd? Back when Magician of Faith was one of the most commonly set monsters (which had the potential of getting back critical spell cards like Delinquent Duo, Pot of Greed, Graceful Charity, Heavy Storm, etc...) no one used this card. Well it’s because there were so many other wonderful alternatives: Metamorphosis using Scapegoat tokens and/or Sinister Serpent (bringing out Thousand-eyes Restrict), Black Luster Soldier’s Remove From Game effect, and the other Nobleman of Crossout. It seemed like there was no need to worry about face down monsters with all these cards.

Anyways, Mystic Swordsman LV 2 itself is a great card for this format. Sure you don’t have 2 more Book of Moons and/or 2 more Tsukuyomis to make it more “synergetic” but with Dekoichi finding more room in people’s decks and LV 2 being one of the best face down monster removal that’s searchable through Reinforcement of the Army and Sangan, I suggest this card to everyone.

Dark Paladin
All right...Drillroid vs. Mystic Swordsman Level 2

Drillroid

*More powerful (1600) attack
*targets any defense monster
*no damage taken
*Machine (gives combo with Limiter Removal)

Mystic Swordsman Level 2

*900 attack (quite low, won't survive more than a turn, likely) *only targets face down defense monsters

That's about it, while Mystic Swordsman Level 2 is good, Drillroid is a superior alternative, and unless your deck is heavily focusing on removal, or you're using a MS deck, go with Drillroid.

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
