Effect               : Harpie Lady Sisters has a single effect: it can’t be Normal Summoned or set, and it can only be Special Summoned by the effect of yesterday’s CotD, Elegant Egotist.  Yup, it’s a “nomi” Monster: even if Special Summoned properly, you can’t revive it.  Since you have to use Elegant Egotist, let me remind you: it will only let you summon her (or Harpie Lady) from your hand or deck provided there is already a Harpie Lady in play.

 

Attributes         : Harpie Lady Sisters is a Level 6 Wind/Winged Beast.  Obviously, the level really only matters on the off chance you decide to use Metamorphosis on it (and there are a few decent Level 6 Monsters to choose from).  Otherwise, Harpie Lady Sisters is of well represented Wind Monsters (Slate Warrior, Spear Dragon, etc.), and the vastly under-represented Winged-Beasts (of whom the Harpies are actually a top representative of).  So I guess that’s a good combination, when you think about it: there isn’t a lot of competition in terms of type, but there is support in terms of being a Wind Monster).  At least some of the Beast and Beast-Warrior support overlaps: Enraged Battle Ox, anyone?

 

Sadly, despite having a restrictive effect to make it harder to summon, Harpie Lady Sisters gets stuck with a low ATK score of 1950, so Berserk Gorilla can take it down.  The DEF of 2100 is a little more useful, as most commonly played beatsticks can’t break that.

 

Uses and

Combinations  : Given her Summoning requirements, Harpie Lady Sister naturally only fits in a Harpie deck.  She is stronger than your average Harpie Lady in terms of raw stats, but we come back to how hard it is to legally get her into play, and you realize you’d usually be better off running another Harpie Lady 1.

 

Is there any real reason to run it?  Yes, there are three.  First, it is stronger than any Harpie Lady, and all the tricks that boost them boost her: summon her out with Harpie Lady 1 and Harpies’ Hunting Ground in play and you get to nuke a Spell or Trap and get a 2450 beatstick in play, which is actually useful.  Second reason to run it is that she doesn’t count against your Harpie Lady Count, but as stated, gets to make use of their best support.  The third reason is that she is pretty wicked if she can make use of Triangle Ecstasy Spark, essentially getting to pretend she’s Jinzo for a turn.

 

You can use Monster Reincarnation (to get her back from the discard) and Serial Spell (copying Elegant Egotist) to increase the likely hood of her seeing play.

 

Ratings (for Harpie Decks)

 

Traditional       : 1.5/5-Don’t bother as her ATK is too low and even Triangle Ecstasy Spark is less likely to go off.

 

Advanced        : 3/5-You might include a single copy, maybe even two, in a Harpie deck for some extra muscle.

 

Limited                        : 1.25/5-That’s only if you manage to pull at least one Elegant Egotist and one Harpie Lady (and the sets this card is in only have the original).  Otherwise, it’s useless, unless you’re incredibly great at bluffing, a 1/5 (as that is as low as we can go).
