Dark Magician Knight
Here we go. Dark Magician Knight isn’t a bad monster
at all. It, like many Dark Magician oriented cards,
requires that you have a Dark Magician on the field
in order to work. By playing Knight’s Title and
sacrificing that Dark Magician, you summon a Dark
Magician Knight from your hand (eh), deck (better)
or Graveyard (just as good).
When it’s summoned (and since it’s a nomi, you won’t
be summoning it any other way either), you get to
destroy a card on the field: monster, Spell or Trap.
Since this guy has the same ATK and DEF as Dark
Magician, you’re basically not changing your side of
the field at all; you’re, essentially, just using
Knight’s Title to destroy a card on the field, which
is actually pretty good. Of course, that’s all
unless you summon DMK from your hand, which you
should try to avoid doing.
In a Dark Magician Deck, this could be an
interesting monster to utilize. A little destruction
is always nice, even though DM decks already have
Dark Magic Attack. Of course, the fact that you
never want to draw it detracts from its playability
a bit…

Dark Magician Knight is incredible. Well, not
really. What I should say is that he is UNIQUE. Of
all the nomi monsters in the game, this one is the
most versatile.
Generally, I include copies of Good Goblin
Housekeeping in every deck I build with a monster
that can only be special summoned from hand or deck
blah blah blah. Why? Because it sucks to draw a
monster that can only be Special Summoned from deck,
or to get hit by a Horus LV8 in your opening hand.
The reason I can't just use Graceful (well, don't
want to) is because once Horus LV8 goes to
graveyard, it's a stupid card.
Enter Dark Magician Knight. This bad boy among the
nomis can be special summoned FROM YOUR GRAVEYARD.
If he hits the graveyard from Reasoning or Painful
Choice or Graceful Charity or Delinquent Duo,
nothing happens to his playability. In fact, his
playability INCREASES while he's in the graveyard.
While he does not become an eligible target for
revival, he DOES become an eligible food source for
Chaos Sorcerer, a viable choice for Spellcaster-themed
decks. And, for the people who want even the
simplest of details pointed out to them, he remains
food for Black Luster Soldier as well. You could
effectively play with three copies of Knight's Title
and only one Dark Magician Knight.
The effect is average. Destroying one of your
opponent's cards WILL even out card advantage, but
this card is so incredibly situational that it
merits Quick-Play status for its tutor. They gave a
powerhouse of a card such as Dimension Magic such
status (Dimension Magic effectively makes all cards
in a Spellcaster deck four stars while adding
chainable monster removal and special summon
capabilities INSIDE THE BATTLE PHASE), so giving
this incredibly situational card Quick-Play status
would not be a stupid maneuver.
However, for all I rant on about the awesome status
of this particular nomi among nomis, he still is too
lackluster to merit any particular playability.

Dark Magician Knight
Today’s card is Dark Magician Knight, a continuation
of yesterday’s card in a sense.
DMT is not DMT (aka. Dye-No-Mite), for the same
reason Dark Magician is not DMT; they’ve got
terrible stats for monsters of their level. Throw in
the fact that DMT basically IS Dark Magician, and
you’ll wonder why you ever wasted a Dark Magician
and a Spell to summon this monstrosity. Still, 2500
ATK is rather formidable to most Level 6 or lower
monsters, allowing it almost zero competition in a
cutthroat environment. It’s also a Warrior, giving
it a few privileges.
As you may remember from yesterday, DMT is a Nomi
monster. As such, it can only be summoned via
Knight’s Title, a Spell I advised avoiding at all
costs. Once Special Summoned though, DMT can destroy
one card on the field……… Yep, that’s it. It destroys
1 card; nothing more.
This lack of a truly useful effect makes DMT quite
possibly the worst Nomi monster there is. It’s not
any stronger than the monster required to summon it,
and it can be thought of as a one time wonder free
Raigeki Break. What’s up with that? My advice: use
Dark Magician, an actual Raigeki Break, and Sinister
Serpent. Much more useful than DMT and it’s Spell.
Advanced: 1/5. Monster destruction does not make up
for this hunk-a-junk.
Traditional: 1/5. See Advanced.
Overall: 1/5.
Art: 3/5. The purple doesn’t rock, but the whole
blocking with sword is neat…

Dark Paladin |
Well, I'd like to welcome you all to Dark Magician
support week! This week we'll be reviewing the
limited and semi-decent to decent support for one of
my favorite cards.
Today brings us the Dark Magician Knight...a
Nomi-Monster which are generally not worth running
for as much trouble as they are to summon.
For you anime fans, I believe this is the card used
by Yugi to defeat the Big 5 in "Merger of the Big
5--Part 3"
Simply put, by sacrificing your Dark Magician on the
field and by playing the Magic card Knight's Title,
you can summons your DM Knight to the field from
your hand, deck, or graveyard. At least that's a
plus.
Secondly, the effect is pretty decent. Being able to
destroy one card on the field upon his summoning
makes DM Knight an extremely versatile Nomi-monster
to use.
However, he is Nomi so that means NO recursion for
him. An attack boost or something would have been
nice too, so that's not really a plus to running DM
Knight. In short, if you have the cards, and feel
like running him, go ahead I guess.

Dark Magician Knight
How many useless DM-related cards did they need to
make?
So you give up a 2500 attacker and 1 card....to get
a 2500 attacker and the destruction of 1 card. It's
a 1 for 1 -- but a horrible 1 for 1. It's a 1 for 1
that requires you have a 2-trib monster on the field
to activate.
Now if they would make a support card
like..."Sacrifice a DMoC to get any 2 cards from
your Graveyard back into your hand"...then we might
have some passable spellcaster support. But until
then...
1/5 all
