D.D.
Survivor
This is an interesting card, perhaps a bit overrated
but good nonetheless. D.D. Survivor is undeniably
strong, with a solid 1800 ATK and the combination of
DARK and Warrior. He’s very searchable,
Chaos-friendly and strong enough to hold his own.
He also has a lovely effect of being essentially
immune from D.D. Warrior Lady and D.D. Assailant. If
this guy kills one of them and your opponent chooses
to remove DDS, he’ll be back at the end of the turn
to wreak more havoc. If you remove this guy on your
side of the field for Card of Sanctity, he’ll be
back. If your opponent (for some stupid reason)
removes D.D. Survivor with BLS-EotB’s effect, he’ll
be back.
I can see this card working in main decks, as a DARK
Warrior with 1800 ATK is very useful in the current
metagame; but his real place is in the Side Deck, to
counter decks that run D.D. Assailants in excess. If
you see that your opponent is running 3x Assailant
along with DDWL, side in a Survivor or two and stop
him in his tracks.

D.
D. Survivor
DDWL and DDA: Meet your worst enemy.
This could throw a serious wrench in the aggro/warrior
beatdown build, which before this card rivaled
Zombie/Chaos and Warrior/Chaos as the most stable
netdecked deck.
This card has quite a bit going for it:
Dark -- Chaos food
Warrior -- Reinforcements of the Army search target
1800 ATK -- Pretty good in the current metagame
ANY RFG and it comes back means FOUR major things.
1. D. D. Warrior Lady is useless against it.
2. D. D. Assailant is A LIABILITY against it, as DDS
will attack DDA, their DDA gets removed, and your
DDS comes back. Advantage like whoa.
3. BLS removal won't work so it makes the Soldier
player have to attack through it, which is great if
you have Mirror Force, Sakuretsu Armor, or some
other punishing trap down.
4. BOTTOMLESS TRAP HOLE CAN'T DO CRAP. As much as
DDWL is thrown in every deck, and DDA is showing up
more and more, BTH was getting thrown in every deck
-- 2 copies most of the time. All-around good cards
that have built-in answers to commonly played
opponent cards are always welcome.

DARK
If this face-up card on your side of the field is
removed from play, this card is Special Summoned to
the owner's side of the field during the End Phase.
Again, I'm not just going to repeat what everyone
else had already said.
This card will single-handedly alter the metagame.
Right now, it's Bottomless Trap Hole, DDWL, and DDA.
With D. D. Survivor, you turn D. D. Assailant
(before a gaurunteed one-for-one trade) into a Pot
of Greed-like effect in your favor.
Now people will have to decide if they are going to
main Survivor, side Survivor, main the DIfferent
Dimension family, or side them. It gets me sensually
excited, I can't wait for Nats.
Anyone who said that TLM wouldn't change anything or
that it sucks is retarded.
Rating: 4/5...bitches. XD

Hmm. An 1800 Warrior (DARK? That's good. DARK
Warriors are in fairly short supply for better ones)
that pretty much kicks the crap out of the metagame.
We focus a lot on remove from play piles. I mean,
people play Bottomless Trap Hole in doubles, D. D.
Assailants in doubles and trebles, and almost every
deck in existence packs the one D. D. Warrior Lady.
This says to those cards, "Go ahead. I've come back
once and I'll be damned if I don't come back again.
Suck it Trebek!"
So let's see… Hmm. Beatstick + Anti-metagame… Yes,
this card is most definitely Zombyra the Dark
reincarnated. Good ratings.

D.
D. Survivor
Today’s card is D. D. Survivor, the newest addition
to the D. D. family.
DDS has great stats; with 1800 ATK he can almost
contend with the average beatstick. He’s also a
Warrior, allowing him to be used in conjunction with
Command Knight to make him a 2200 ATK monster and
also be searched for with Reinforcement of the Army.
And if it pleases the courts, he’s also a DARK
monster, allowing him to fir perfectly into Warrior
Chaos Decks.
DDS’s effect is rather interesting, and is similar
to that of another D. D.
When he’s face-up on the field and he’s removed from
play, he’s Special Summoned to the owner’s field at
the end of the turn. Now while his effect isn’t as
easy to use as that of his D. D. half-twin, D. D.
Scout Plane, it can prove very useful in an
environment in which BLS, DDWL, and DDA are popular
card choices. So if DDS is on the receiving end of
one of the aforementioned card’s “remove from play”
effects, it will return at the end of the turn ready
to take whatever the opponent can throw at it.
Despite the large amount of “remove for play”
monsters in most people’s Decks, DDS’s chances of
using his effect aren’t incredibly high, which is
why I wouldn’t advise using it in an old Deck.
Instead, use a Deck that can take advantage of the
effect, such as one that uses large amounts of
Different Dimension Gates, or cards with similar
effects. Don’t know how that would work? Figure it
out for yourself you lazy!
Advanced: 3.5/5. It’s a solid monster with an effect
that may occasionally prove useful.
Traditional: 3/5. I don’t know if DDA is incredibly
popular in today’s Traditional, but I’d imagine
there’s more destruction than there is removal.
Overall: 3.25/5.
Art: 2.5/5. A guy in a torn cloak. Very
intimidating.

DD
Survivor
Level 4
Dark
1800-200
YAY, ANOTHER DD CARD!!!! And subsequently, by YAY, I
mean meh. Meh for the fact there are more with each
passing set, not because the card sucks (which it
doesn't) This card can be special summoned to the
owner's side of the field if it is removed from play
while face up on the field.
Well, there is absolutely NO reason for the CCWC
decks not to be packing two of these while they can,
and I personally would expect this card to be
restricted come when it's time to update the list
again?
Why you say? Well, let's think about it. Running two
(even though you can use
3) is MORE than enough. You use one to attack a DD
Warrior Lady and both cards are removed. But
wait...your DD Survivor (just as his name implies)
survives and comes back next turn.
Your second DD Survivor can deal with DD Assailant
since he has 1800 attack points while Lady has only
1500 and Assailant is stuck at 1700. Of course, 200
defense literally sucks, but every card needs a
downside.
Ratings:
Traditional: 4.0/5 Seriously, you can use 3 Lady and
Assailant here, but 3 of this guy too, and he's the
superior choice in my mind.
Traditional Warrior/Chaos: 5.0/5 (A perfect rating)
Here you can use all 3 of the above cards, plus
Witch, plus Yata, plus CED.
Advanced: 4.5/5 Even with only 1 DD Warrior Lady, he
is a truely awesome card.
I still expect him to be restricted.
Advanced Warrior/Chaos: 5.0/5 I know I shouldn't
rate Traditional & Advanced both 5/5 but the card is
just that good.
Overall rating: 4.3/5
Art: 4.5/5 Even the art is good.
You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Stats :
D.D. Survivor is a Level 4 Monster,
making it simple to Summon (seems silly to point
out, but I know what’s being reviewed the rest
of the week). It is a Dark/Warrior, a
fantastically potent Attribute/Type
combination. Dark Monsters have decent support
and Warriors appear to be the best supported
type, plus together they are a perfect fit for
Warrior/Chaos decks. Moving on, we see a
solid 1800 ATK. This used to be tops for Level
4 beatsticks, and even though the cap has long
since passed it by, it still remains quite
solid: only “real” beatsticks can top it. We
then see a DEF of… 200? This is rather tiny,
but I am glad to see it? Why? This is an
Effect Monster. As you know, I complain about
the lack of apparent “stat” caps in Yu-Gi-Oh: It
used to be the lone Level 4, 1800 ATK monster
was king. Now, if it doesn’t have an effect,
it’s pretty much lucky to be used as filler.
Well, the ATK isn’t the only stat that can be
sacrificed to justify an effect: DEF can be
decreased as well. There are several cards that
change Monster Battle Positions, and two (Book
of Moon and Enemy Controller) are
common played. So a pitiful 200 DEF, while
better than something less, means that this is
as good as dead in DEF mode. This should cover
the cost of a decent effect.
Effect(s) :
The effect is that when this face-up Monster is
removed from play, it is Special Summoned to the
Owner’s side of the field during the End Phase.
On its own, it isn’t a great effect, but it
isn’t horrid either. Still, it probably could
have gotten away with a higher DEF and still be
balanced. Unless there is a good combo for it…
Uses and
Combinations :
Okay, one combination is somewhat weak, but
works: Card of Sanctity. Do your normal
stuff Main Phase 1, attack with this, and
assuming it survives, play Card of Sanctity,
hopefully only removing this from play, draw 2,
then make use of them and get this guy back
during your End Phase. Not great, but
something. Gee, if only there were Monsters
with ATK/DEF scores of less than 1800 that
removed Monsters from play… yeah, that is right,
this card, ironically, is anti-D.D.
Warrior Lady and D.D. Assailant.
Their effects become essentially useless. Are
there any other effects that remove a face-up
Monster from play? Yes, one of my favorite
Equip Spells: Big Bang Shot. You may
recall how I love trample. Well, Big Bang
Shot gives a 400 ATK power boost and
trample. The downside is that when Big Bang
Shot is destroyed, the Monster it was
attached to is removed from play. While it will
still be annoying if your opponent manages to
use a set Mystical Space Typhoon to
protect themselves from an attack from a Big
Bang Shot equipped D.D. Survivor,
better that than not being able to score 2200
damage against Sheep Tokens, and better they use
Mystical Space Typhoon on that then on a
Pre-Mature Burial or Call of the
Haunted. It gains some protection from
Dark Core and, if for some reason Black
Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning
didn’t want to risk attacking it and just tried
to remove it from play… well, that’s only a
temporary fix. This card makes Different
Dimension Capsule a hair more useful, I
suppose: choose D.D. Survivor and one of
their Monsters, and no matter what, you get your
Monster back by the end of the turn. Well, that
is all I can find for now. Nothing too great…
good thing this is still a decent Beatstick and
Chaos food.
Ratings
Traditional :
3/5-Why so high? It works with Chaos
decks, and is a decent top deck, and D.D.
Assailant and D.D. Warrior Lady are
so common.
Advanced :
3.5/5-As above and being a solid Level 4
beatstick is more useful here.
Limited :
4/5-Why so high? Here it happens to be one of
the best no-Tribute beatsticks.
Summary
Most of the cards the D.D. Survivor can
combo with don’t see any significant play in
serious decks, but its ability to counter the
popular “D.D.” based Monster removal and
work with Chaos decks makes it a solid
card.
