Rock Bombardment
Rock Bombardment is a very nice Trap, an asset to
the now-viable Rock Decks and a staple in the
seldom-if-never-seen Rock Burners. It’s a Normal
Trap that’s chainable, which is good. It lets you
thin your deck and put a Rock in the Graveyard at
the same time, which is good. And to top all that
off, it inflicts a small but nice 500 damage to your
opponent’s Life Points.
For decks based on Megarock Dragon, this is a great
card. It essentially gives Megarock Dragon another
700 ATK; it’s also useful for getting Rocks (which
are usually EARTH) into the Graveyard to remove for
The Rock Spirit or Gigantes. In decks based on Mine
Golem, it’s a good card to get the Golems into the
Graveyard to bring them back later for the purpose
of Minefield Eruption.
And of course, if you need a last bit of damage to
finish off your opponent, this will do the job
(though there are better cards for that, of course).
I would definitely run this in a Rock Deck,
particularly one based on Gigantes/Rock Spirit
and/or Megarock Dragon. It’s just nice.

Rock Bombardment
I said what I needed to say about this card on
Monday.
In short: Up to 3,000 is good -- needing to get 3
Mine Golems to do it is bad, even with the Giant
Rats. I'd much rather play an all-purpose card like
Ceasefire -- you may only be getting 500 per monster
but typically you're doing 500 for EVERY monster
because I haven't seen a Normal monster hit a Tier 1
tournament scene for a LONG time.

...Yeah...sacrifice card advantage to do 500 damage
and what? Feed your Megarock Dragon? Pfffft, yeah
okay. Lemme slap three of these bad boys into my
deck. You may crush me, but I threw pebbles at you
and one landed in your eye and...I own you and
stuff.

Rock Bombardment isn't justifiable burn. You don't
play something like Hinotama. This is a Rock tutor.
Rock monsters generally have flip effects or high
DEF, so they won't be upset if you run 3x Shallow
Grave and introduce them to the graveyard from the
deck. No problem at all, I'd say. This is basically
Foolish Burial (Japanese Normal Spell that sends any
one monster from your deck to the graveyard) with
some heavy modifications for Rock monsters.
So, um, where else would you run it? Want to kill
your own Morphing Jar or Cyber Jar? Go ahead. Play 1
card for a situational 500 damage + deck thinning.
Quite clearly a Rock tutor.

Rock Bombardment
Today’s card is Rock Bombardment, a Trap that adds a
bit of Burn to Rock Decks.
RB allows you to add one Rock monster in your Deck
to your Graveyard, and then inflict 500 points of
damage to the opponent’s Life Points. The Burn
aspects of the card should be obvious, so I won’t
bother to point them out.
The Rock monster Deck-to-Graveyard trick however
warrants a little attention. With Painful Choice’s
absence in Advanced, getting a specific card into
the Graveyard can be a chore. But thanks RB, Rock
Decks can live their daily lives in a not so painful
and choice-free way.
While Rock Decks have little need to put Rock
monsters in the Graveyard (save Deck thinning),
Megarock Dragon is benefited greatly from having
Rock monsters In the Graveyard. How is it benefited?
Well you’ll just need to look it up on your own or
wait until we eventually review Megarock. All in
all, RB adds some much needed speed to what are
undoubtedly slow Rock Decks.
Throw in the fact that your opponent is punished for
your benefit, and you’ve got a Rock Deck staple.
Advanced (Rock Deck): 5/5. Thinning + Burn = great.
Traditional (Rock Deck): 4/5. I’d go with more
useful Painful Choice most likely… Overall (Rock
Deck): 4.5/5.
Art: 2/5. The castle that’s in Royal Decree, is
under attack, under attack.
The castle that’s in Royal Decree has a tyrannical
dictator of a king who appears in Imperial Order
which is now banned, my fair lady.

Today's card actually doesn't suck! Hurray!
The main goal of Rock Bombardment is to thin your
deck. It's technically a 'tutor' for rock-type
monsters, which is why I think the card may very
well see play - well, if rock decks were
competitive.
At the worst, you dump a monster you don't need into
the graveyard, deal meaningless damage, and then
never use that monster again. Best case scenario is
that this is chained to an opponent's removal card
so you go 1 for 1, and you dump a monster for future
use. Hey, at least it fulfills Megarock Dragon
pretty quickly, and he's a decent morph target.
In limited, this card can end a game, it thins your
deck, and when drafted/pulled with Megarock Dragon,
it's another 700 ATK for that monster. Oh, did I
mention it can easily end a game? If you have some
Monk Fighters or a Megarock, play this card in
limited.

Rock Bombardment
Normal Trap
Select 1 Rock-Type monster in your Deck and send it
to your Graveyard. Inflict 500 points of damage to
your opponent's Lifepoints. Then shuffle your deck.
Well, if you choose something strong, you could at
least revive it easily via Call of the Haunted or
Premature Burial. 500 damage though doesn't exactly
make this worth using, even in the Rock deck which
is the only place this card has a use.
Even three of them is only 1500 damage and can you
find room for 3 craptacular traps in your Rock deck
such as this?
I thought not...
