Super Rejuvenation is a nifty quickplay Magic from
LOD. Let's check it out.
Well now, we have two things we have to look at for
this card.
First off, at the most it reduces advantage loss due
to discarding or tributing Dragons for a cost to 1
card. Let's say you tribute or discard 3 Dragons…
Activate this, and then you draw three cards during
the End Phase. Then you have only lost this card.
Second off, when you play multiples of this card,
that flips around. If you discard/Tribute 1 Dragon
and activate this, then activate another card, you
draw 2; one for each copy of this card. If you
Tributed/discarded 2, then you draw 4, breaking even
for the number of cards played and gained (2
Tributed/discarded and 2 copies of this card played
to draw 4). If you Tribute/discard 3, then you're
drawing 6 for a cost of 5, Tribute/discard 4, you're
drawing 8 for a cost of 6, and so on. This could be
really good drawing if you fetch all three and kill
3 Dragons as a cost or something. I mean, it's
really not that difficult – Summon Manju, pulling
out half of the Paladin of White Dragon dealie,
tribute a Luster Dragon, Tribute the Paladin for a
BEWD, and then play Metamorphosis or something, or
Mystik Wok or whatever pleases you… Then activate
two of these.
This card COULD be good… I mean, we have the
multiple copies thing going for it… But really, how
many Dragons can you tribute in one turn?
Of the 63 Dragon monsters in the game…
*35 are level 5 or higher
*2 are completely useless Toon monsters
*6 are Fusions, and 4 of those six are non-effect
fusions
*6 belong to a LV family of some sort
*27 are normal monsters, and of those, only four are
of any significance (being Luster Dragon, Dragon
Dwelling in the Cave, BEWD and REBD)
*1 is impossible to play at all
*1 is banned in Advanced format and restricted to
one per deck besides
*2 on the list are restricted to one per deck
*1 is a Spirit
I checked through the list and found these good,
playable dragons (stretching on a few of them):
Chaos Emperor Dragon (playable in one format,
anyway)
Different Dimension Dragon
Element Dragon
Horus LV6
LV8
Kaiser Glider
Masked Dragon
Mirage Dragon
Paladin of White Dragon (only in BEWD decks, however
– useless ritual monster besides)
Dragon Dwelling in the Cave
Spear Dragon
Twin-Headed Behemoth
So yeah. With Paladin, you're going to want a Manju
or three in the deck… Not good.
Since not all of these could fit in the same deck
together and fit WELL, the card itself becomes
situational.
In a pure dragon deck, you still risk bad topdecks
if you include this and cards to use it with.
Even DNA Surgery + Scapegoat + Cannon Soldier isn't
worth it because we still have no way to search out
the necessary non-monster cards.
Bottom line is that it should stay in your commons
pile.
Traditional: 1.6/5 (You have to have a card in your
hand and have discarded/Tributed dragons as a cost?
No.)
Advanced: 2.1/5 |

Super Rejuvenation
Today’s card is Super Rejuvenation, an
oft-overlooked common from Legacy of Darkness. Being
a Quickplay Spell, it can be activated more or less
whenever you want (just not the Damage Step). Its
effect is interesting, to say the least.
Play this, and then during the End Phase, you get to
draw a card for however many Dragons you discarded
or tributed during that turn. So if you play this,
then sacrifice your two Troop Dragons to summon
Serpent Night Dragon, you’d get to draw two cards
during your End Phase.
If you’re playing Spirit Ryu and you discard a
Dragon for its effect, you get to draw a card during
the End Phase.
Sure, this card is useless outside of a Dragon Deck;
and sure, even in a Dragon Deck, it’ll be a dead
draw sometimes. But it’s certainly a nice card at
least to consider, because getting back lost card
advantage is never something to pass over
completely.

Super Rejuvenation
Quickplay Spell
During the End Phase of the turn in which this card
is activated, draw 1 card for each Dragon-type
monster discarded and/or offered as a Tribute during
this turn.
Well, welcome to a week with a theme, believe it or
not. The theme this week is, if I'm not mistaken,
"Hey, that card MAY be good..." So, we will indeed
see if these cards are any good.
Obviously, this card is best used in a Dragon deck
since Dragons are specifically required in the
effect of the card. Just off the top of my head some
cards this would work with would include:
Spirit Ryu
A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon (I guess)
Magic Jammer
Lightning Vortex
tributing for a Dragon (assuming the monsters you
have to tribute ARE Dragons)
Just to name a couple. I suppose in a Dragon deck,
you could use this for fun if you really really
needed a little extra draw power. I just don't
really seeing it giving you and kind of a real edge.

Super Rejuvenation
This thing has hardly seen any play -- and this
could be the card to give dragon decks that
competitive kick they really need.
Basically, if you're playing an entire deck
based on strong dragons (Spear, Luster, Masked,
and maybe the Armed line) then you'll get some
use out of this -- you need to be drawing TWO
cards for this thing's effect for it to be worth
it -- if you're giving up 1 card just to draw 1
card it's not really helping you outside of deck
cycling.
I've never used the card in my life before
(remember, I only netdeck tier 1 stuff usually),
but I do know from reading a couple of the old
Metagame challenges that this combos extremely
well with Card Destruction, could prove useful
against Delinquent Duo, and might actually make
it worthwhile to tribute two dragons for a
high-end monster since you'd be drawing 2 cards.
I still don't see Dragon decks becoming Tier 1
ANYTIME soon, but I do see those running dragon
decks needing to run Card Destruction as well as
this.

Super
Rejuvenation
Welcome to Worthy Week! This week we’ll be reviewing
cards that could prove useful in the right Deck.
Today’s card is Super Rejuvenation, a Spell that can
assist in mass drawing.
During the End Phase of the turn SR is activated you
can draw 1 card for each Dragon-Type monster you
discarded or Tributed during that turn. Now one
thing that should be blatantly obvious is that SR
requires Dragons to function. The problem with this
requirement is that there are VERY few good Dragons.
In fact, I can list all the good Dragons with only
THREE commas:
the Armed Dragon, the Horus Dragons, Spear Dragon,
and Twin-Headed Behemoth.
There are of course other Dragons, but they are best
reserved for casual means. So anyway, there’s 6
Dragons you may want to use, which dramatically
inhibits your discard and Tribute options for SR…
Combo time. Cannon Soldier, Scapegoat, DNA Surgery,
and SR (duh) will be needed. So you’ve got Cannon
Soldier on the field from a previous turn, and a Set
Scapegoat, SR, and DNA Surgery. Activate Scapegoat,
chain SR, and then chain DNA Surgery. Do you see
where I’m going with this? All you need to do is a)
hope the opponent doesn’t stop one of these 4 cards
and b) Tribute your 4 Dragon-Type Scapegoats with
Cannon Soldier to do 2000 points of damage to the
opponent AND draw 4 cards at the end of the turn.
Despite the above combo and the extreme benefits it
comes with, SR is not a card I’d recommend, even in
a Dragon Deck. The reason for this is the lack of
good Dragons, as well as instances in which you’d be
able to massively take advantage of the effect. So
for the time being, keep SR casual.
Advanced (Dragon Deck): 2.5/5. If you manage to have
the right cards at the right time, you could be
drawing 2-3 cards.
Traditional (Dragon Deck): 2.5/5. See Advanced.
Overall (Dragon Deck): 2.5/5.
Art: 3/5. It’s Name That Monster Time! I see a
regenerating Cave Dragon. |
