King of the Swamp
This is honestly the most versatile Fusion sub
we have.
This monster can either be part of a Fusion...or
be given up from your hand to get the
Polymerization to allow you to do the fusion in
the first place.
If Polymerization decks were actually any good,
this thing'd be worth $10 each and everyone
would be trying to get 3. This card's
overlooked because Polymerization is overlooked.
People might actually PLAY Poly if its text were
more like... "Send Fusion Material Monsters that
are listed by a Fusion Monster Card from your
hand or your side of the field to the Graveyard,
and Special Summon the Fusion Monster from your
Fusion Deck. DRAW TWO CARDS."...or
if a Poly-summoned Fusion automatically got BLS-Envoy's
effects added to its standard effect.
But with -3 cards to summon 1 monster without
getting any payback...this thing's doomed to the
low end of the trade binder.

King of the Swamp
King of the Swamp is an excellent little monster
that I’d almost consider a Staple for decks
revolving around Fusions (or would, if
Polymerization were even necessary for a successful
Fusion Deck anymore…which basically just leaves Dark
Paladin, as he DOES require Polymerization or Fusion
Gate). I digress. To rephrase that: use this if
you’re running Dark Paladin.
This guy has two effects. The first allows him to
serve as a Fusion Substitute monster, which is
extraordinarily rentsy because this means if you
want to run Dark Paladin, you only need to run
either Dark Magician OR Buster Blader, not both.
The second is VERY nice, and it makes him vastly
superior to the other Fusion Subs. You can discard
this to get a Polymerization from your Deck. Simple,
no?
Basically, he can serve as either a Fusion Sub or
Polymerization – whichever one you need at the
moment. He’s very versatile, and in a Dark Paladin
Deck, a necessity; he really speeds things up.
Ignore his stats; they’re just not important.

Traditional – Dark Paladin: 4.5/5
Advanced – CCWC: 1.5/5
Advanced – Dark Paladin: 5/5

King of the Swamp
Out final card of Worthy Week is King of the Swamp,
the most worth card of this week.
KotS’s stats are far from spectacular; 500 ATK
allows it to destroy Kuribohs in battle, and 1100
DEF allows it to survive an attack from Sangan
(assuming it’s in Defense Position). Even its WATER
Attribute doesn’t do it much good due to ALO only
pumping KotS up to 700/1300, stats that aren’t’ much
better than KotS’s original ATK/DEF. Needless to
say, KotS isn’t a monster you’d want to have on the
field, and his effect proves that that was never his
purpose.
KotS’s first effect makes it a Fusion-Substitute
monster, allowing you to use it as opposed to one of
the less useful components of a Fusion Monster.
So instead of using a Big Koala and a Des Kangaroo
to Fusion Summon Master of Oz, you can use KotS and
Des Kangaroo instead. KotS’s second effect allows
you to discard it to the Graveyard to add a
Polymerization in your Deck to your hand, an effect
with obvious uses. As should be apparent, KotS’s
effects depend on actual Fusion Summons, not that
Metamorphosis/Magical Scientist bologna. But because
Fusion Summons are VERY rare, KotS appearances in a
Deck are also very rare. However in a Deck that
utilizes Polymerizations, KotS should be a staple.
Advanced (Fusion Deck): 5/5. Chances are at least
one Fusion-Material monster sucks, so KotS should be
especially useful.
Traditional (Fusion Deck): 5/5. See Advanced.
Overall (Fusion Deck): 5/5.
Art: 3/5. If Swamp Thing had a laser beam on its
forehead, it would be the sneezing image of KotS. |

King of the Swamp
Well, for those of you who actually run that old
card Polymerization for whatever reason, this card
is God for you. It's way better than your TP Fusion
Substitutes in the fact that it can retrieve a
Polymerization.
Obviously, this card might as well be used in and
ONLY in a Dark Paladin deck.
Since Metamorphosis is used 99.9% of the time over
Polymerization, but Dark Paladin can ONLY be
summoned by Fusion Summon, that's the deck in which
King of the Swamp really shines.
Now, unless you are running the aforementioned Dark
Paladin deck or running an odd deck full of random
miscellaneous fusions without Metamorphosis, for
whatever reason,
