Mystical Space Typhoon
Welcome to cookie-cutter week!...kinda. This week
we're looking at cards everyone's going to be
running or will consider running in the new Advanced
Format.
Today's is pretty simple.
It's an AUTOMATIC inclusion in pretty much EVERY
DECK EVER. There are very few decks that couldn't
benefit from the choice destruction of one Spell or
Trap on the field.
When it was unrestricted, it was the reason people
ran so many chainable traps like Waboku and Mirror
Force and Magic Cylinder hardly ever worked. When it
was limited, it was considered a staple. It still
is.
Unless you're playing some weird combo deck that is
hurt by having another spell card (maybe a Magical
Merchant deck with like 35 monsters?) you run this
or you're a noob. 1 for 1 trades are king right now;
Smashing Ground is run in 3's, DDAs are another
rampant 1:1, and this is an important 1:1 in the
spell-killing department.
5/5 all.

What is there to say? This card is among the
greatest. You have no idea what kind of trouble this
card has caused.
It is because of Mystical Space Typhoon's
restriction over a year ago that people TO THIS DATE
pop Hallowed Life Barrier and Des Wombat in their
decks to stop the onslaught of the oh-so-rare burn
deck which they couldn't take on otherwise.
This card was, in the past, arguably the most
important card in a deck outside of Pot of Greed and
Imperial Order. It turned Mirage of Nightmare into a
BEAST of a card drawer, and nullified Imperial
Orders and Call of the Haunteds and Snatch Steals
and Premature Burials and even opposing Mirages of
Nightmares, turning them into dust before they even
had their limelight. It was the most effective
counter since Scapegoat against the ubiquitous Drop
Off.
Quick-Play Spells are powerful, friends. Book of
Moon, MST, and Scapegoat aren't restricted because
they're pretty. Enemy Controller doesn't sell for as
much as it does because people think it's a funny
card. QP Spells are the most surprising cards in the
game. They act as traps even on your very first
turn, or just a super-fast spell. Go into Battle
Phase, hit a Cyber Dragon to defense with Controller
or Book and ram it with D. D. Assailant. The
difference is huge.
This card has been important in the game's
evolution, and is most definitely staple material.
General: 5/5

Dark Paladin |
Today we review one old card that is quite good, and
doesn't really deserve more than a sentence or two.
Mystical Space Typhoon is hillariously powerful, and
is also restricted, which actually boosts its power.
In short, about every single deck needs the one you
can use, because the spell/trap destruction options
aren't great. In short--USE IT!!
Ratings:
4.95/5 all around, obviously (I'd really not like to
give out 5's ever again if possible, because no card
should truely be perfect.
Art: 3.5/5 We have far too many weather related
picture cards, and I favor Heavy Storm best.
You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
