Metamorphosis
It was good before; it’s still good now. Morphing
Sheep Tokens to TER, used Magicians of Faith to TER,
Different Dimension Dragons or Vampire Lords or
Airknight Parshaths or Guardian Sphinxes to Dark
Balter the Terrible, opposing Lava Golems to Gatling
Dragons or Fusilier Dragons to King Draguns…the list
goes on.
If you have a bunch of Fusions, you might as well
toss in Metamorphosis. It’s no longer as great as it
was, what with TER and Scapegoat both restricted and
Sinister Serpent banned – but it’s still worth
using.
There are a lot of decks where Metamorphosis would
work “best” now, so I’ll not even specify.
5/5
This was a pretty rentsy week. And by rentsy, I mean
kinda boring.

Metamorphosis
We still have nightmares about this card in Trinity
Format. The opponent bringing out yet another
Thousand-Eyes Restrict, just when you get something
good on the field, and suddenly the game slows to a
screeching halt. Or maybe you were lucky enough to
have Book of Moon to stop an Airknight Parshath's
attack but then that Parshath morphs into a Dark
Balter in Main Phase 2, leaving the Graceful you've
been holding useless.
How good is Metamorphosis now?
They pretty much killed it.
TER is no longer something to rely on, as (1)
Scapegoats are 1/deck, (2) Magician of Faith is
1/deck, (3) Sinister Serpent's gone, and (4) no
other 1-star monsters are really playable except
Relinquished in a hardcore deck focusing on it.
We do have Cyber Dragon which can be easily morphed
into Balter...and then the opponent plays THEIR
Cyber Dragon and kills it. Or your Balter attacks
into one of your opponent's three Sakuretsu Armors.
And without BLS-Envoy to special summon, there's no
easy 8-star to Morph into Cyber Twin Dragon.
I didn't see a Thousand-Eyes Restrict hit the field
all day at the Regionals I recently attended; I only
saw two Metamorphosis's in total the whole day.
No point here.
1.5/5 (never thought I'd be saying that...)

I
don't really know what to say about Morph now. I
have limited experience with the new environment,
but I can tell you right now that without the
powerhouse LV1's we were running before, the use of
this card has diminished. A Morph from Cyber Dragon
to Balter with Decrees is, of course, hugetacular,
but the versatility of this card lay in its ability
to stall the game and gain card advantage in the
process as well as put a DARK in the graveyard. It
worked like that despite the immediate effects of
playing Morph to get out TER.
Now it's meh. Balter can break through the commonly
played Newdoria, Pyramid Turtle, and D. D.
Assailant, but can't do anything against the also
quite common Cyber Dragon and Spirit Reaper. Senshi
is just plain meh. That leaves the only purpose of
this card to get out the uber high levels.
You know, I'll pass. It's fun tech in a few decks,
but I'll pass.
General: 2.4/5

Geez…this card was the bane to so many lives. Now it
has been restricted, and it’s still powerful. Now
it’s just not run in multiple copies.
Morph a Cyber Dragon into Balter. Lock their spells
and hope to Hell they don’t have a Snatch Steal.
Morph a Magician of Faith or a sheep token into
Thousand-Eyes Restrict and become hated by everyone
at the tournament. Morph Nephthys into Cyber Twin
Dragon and win the duel. Yeah, you see where I’m
going with this. It’s a bit situational, but it is
devastating. It’s hard to say if this card lost much
playability, really. It’s kind of bad in traditional
(sans morphing something into Balter), and it’s
useless in limited, but Metamorphosis is a
powerhouse in the advanced format.

As
this week of newly restricted cards comes to a
close, we come to Metamorphosis. In this review,
just replace the words "Limiter Removal" with
"Metamorphosis" and "Machines" with "Morph".
Seriously, this is the same scenario.
Morph decks were also tremendously hurt by this.
Thousand Eye Restrict, Metamorphosis, AND Magician
of Faith were all restricted.
The three focal cards of a Morph deck. Scapegoat
also (in)directly hurt Morph decks with its
restriction.
Metamorphosis is still good though, whether you
summon Cyber End Dragon or Thousand Eye Restrict (or
whatever else you so choose). As I already stated,
my thoughts on Metamorphosis are almost identical as
yesterday for my thoughts on Limiter Removal.
Ratings:
Traditional (Morph): 4.1/5 If morph can still
function
Advanced (Morph): 4.6/5 If morph can still function
You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
