Night Assailant:
Two formats ago, this thing was awesome. One format
ago, this thing netted you an extra flip. Now...meh.
Night Assailant was best used when we had two. One
could get back the other, creating a cycle of
infinite discard. Tribe-Infecting Virus and
Lightning Vortex got even MORE help, not that they
needed it with Sinister Serpent around. That, and
Graceful Charity allowed a player to drop 2 and get
them both back, essentially creating a +2.
Last format, we only had one, and hardly anyone
played it. Those who DID play it were looking to get
back Magician of Faith or possibly Magical Merchant,
trying to get either another critical spell, or
monsters into the Graveyard for an Avarice
activation. The other thing that made it so great
was gone as well; Delinquent Duo was banned last
format, so it wasn't getting its effect nearly as
much that way. And once Dark World came out, Night
Assailant officially moved to the back of the "hold
in my hand hoping you'll discard it" list.
Now, Dark World is going to be stronger than ever
(or at least up until EoJ...which they're gonna end
up legalizing RIGHT before Nationals...originality
at Nats, gag.) so there's even less use for this
card. People who were just trying to get back MoF
have a second, so they won't play it. People who
would get back Cyber Jar can't because it's banned.
People usually wouldn't want to get back Morphing
Jar though, as the opponent would know exactly how
to play against it the second time around.

Night Assailant, is an excellent monster, simply
put. As you know, the first effect is the Man Eater
Bug effect. When flipped, it destroys one monster on
your opponent's side of the field. Simple, no?
Then, the return ability. If you have a flip effect
monster in your Graveyard, any flip effect monster
at all, Night Assaialant automatically becomes a 1
for 1. Discard Night Assailant for something like
Lightning Vortex and bring back something like
Magician of Faith and your hand stays the same size.
There isn't really a reason why a deck with a lot of
flips and discard effects shouldn't run the copy
it's allowed. Or even, just run it for the
destruction, it's way cooler looking than Man Eater
Bug.

Night Assailant was the first card, essentially he
was the little used discard fodder at the start of
the format, who grew in popularity as time went on.
Being at one significantly hurt his playability but
he was a solid choice in any flip based control deck
(I hate saying FFC) or in a deck where you wanted to
try to manage some discards. Near the end though the
Frog was a solid alternative in most decks just
wanting to try to run discards. Meanwhile Night
Assailant remained a solid flip effect support card.
But naturally running him was risky.
Traditional: 2.5/5 (you have snake…… no need but not
horrible either)

Night Assailant:
Good, but better in multiples.
This had a more obivious place in decks in the age
of Tribe and Lightning Vortex. Nowadays, we don't
have obvious discard costs, so this is used as a
counter to Spirit Reaper attacks. The difference
between using this and Goldd is that you can get use
out of this without discarding it, so it's more
versatile.

Night Assailant
I love flips. I love this card. One of the coolest
things about flips (Which is also the reason I love
them so much.), is they have that one thing in
common; Upon flipping, you IMMEDIATELY get a card.
Weather its taking out one of your opponents options
(Such as Night Assailant.) or giving you more
options (Such as Magical Merchant, Magician Of
Faith, or Dekoichi.), they always give you that
wholesome advantage =].
If they get killed in battle, its a 1-1, all the
time. On of the keys to last format was to NOT LOSE
ADVANTAGE on the battlefield. Which is why Deko,
Magician Of Faith, Magical Merchant, and Mystic
Tomato were so popular, and Mystic Swordsman LV2 was
so popular, players were trying to do anything
possible to keep it even (or uneven for them.) on
the battlefield, which is why Flip Flop was so
popular.
Night Assailant is a FLIP type monster card. Upon
flipping, you select one monster on your opponents
field and destroy it! Flipping this on your turn to
destroy a face down Dekoichi and then tributing it
for Mobius the Frost Monarch to destroy their face
down sakuretsu armor is a 2-1 trade, and you've just
hit their life points for alot.
Or if this gets attack by any monster, it evens out
what advantage they would have gained through
battle. Unless they hit with breaker, in which case
you would have wanted to save Assailant for
Tributing next turn if possible.
Its other effect is if it is discarded from your
hand to the graveyard (Not by just a card effect,
just discarded like for the end of your turn.), you
can select another FLIP type monster out of your
graveyard, and add it to your hand. What does this
mean?
It means it makes graceful charity a WHOLE LOT
BETTER. With Night Assailant (And a flip monster, of
course.) you can make Graceful a +1, and get back a
Magician Of Faith that you just used to get graceful
back again ;ppp.
Now, on Deck Devastation Virus:
" If "Night Assailant" in your hand is destroyed by
the effect of "Deck Devastation Virus", its effect
will activate."
Just in case you were wondering about that.
Overall, Night Assailant is one versatile flip, if
you're running the proper monster line, I'd suggest
giving him a try.

Night Assailant
This is a versatile card which can either serve as a
1 for 1, or a free discard, allowing a precious
magician of Faith to come back again.
Whilst semi - limited, Night assailant obtained a
brief time in the spotlight, allowing for an even
more free discard than a Sinister serpant, but since
it was restricted its play has diminished
considerably, still with MoF back, as well as
graceful, Night Assailants could be popping up again
after all, since they can serve as a man eater bug
as well.
Traditional : 2/5 I prefer sinister…

Art : 4/5 Very cool
