Gilasaurus having never been reviewed was another surprise for me.  Granted, it wasn’t especially good when it was first released, but it ended up being handy for monsters like Gilford the Lightning or a wimpy but easy to use candidate for Inferno Reckless Summon.  None of these were stellar uses, though, and I don’t know if anyone has bothered with this in a Monarch deck.  Why would they?  Well, the 1400 ATK isn’t horrid and one should note the effect will allow the opponent to Special Summon a Monster from their Graveyard, but doesn’t require it.  That is, the opponent can choose not too… or more realistically if you use this early they can’t.  For example, maybe a Macrocosmos/Monarch build?

 

Dinosaurs like Gilasaurus for feeding Tributes.  Of course, as long as we have Cyber Dragon, that will probably be less than important.  Still, thanks to some of the other bits of support, Gilasaurus can also just be handy as a body for almost anything.  Summon it alongside a bigger Monster, play Tail Swipe and bounce whatever they revived and whatever they had out already, and then attack with both of your Dinosaurs direct.

 

The above may not sound like much, but notice how I wasn’t limited to a “Dinosaur only” deck this review.  That means I get to give a “real” score again instead of a “Dinosaur deck only” rating, so the score can be taken at face value.  As a whole, Gilasaurus is good at what it does and only suffers because of a few broken alternatives.
