Steel Shell :

This, among other cards , could well be rated as singularly one of the worst cards ever to take a rare spot.

Steel shell is, in short, awful. This is invigoration for the Water element, and Invigoration is another card that is simply terrible ;

The power boost is minimal - 400 is only just double what ALO gives ALL water types, and has a MUCH better effect.

The boost is specific to the water type. I mean god, there are piles of non - specific equips that give a larger power boost available.

The final kick in the face is that this terrible card actually WEAKENS the def of the monster using it.

Traditional ;1/5 NO !!!!!!

Advanced : 1/5 No0o0o0o0o !!!!

Art ; - 1/ 5 - It doesn’t even look cool.

Steel Shell is a very old card that was first printed back in Tournament Pack 2. The original intention of this card was to complete a set of attribute based equip cards for each of the six main-types of monsters. Like the other cards of this series it increases that attack of the monster by 400 points while weakening its defense by 200. This isn’t a very big boost, and even back then it was mediocre at best.

You can search it from the deck with Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu, or pull it back from your cemetery with Magician of Faith or Fairy of the Spring. Sadly though, it just doesn’t have much use. Axe of Despair or even the base amounts from United We Stand and Mage Power trump this card at its best, leaving it utterly useless, even in the intended deck type (water). Not to mention that ALL equip cards are shunned in the current metagame, because they can’t offer the one for one trades that are needed to win duels.

The art is basic as well; it’s pretty much just what the cards name implies, a shell made out of steel. I do like the silver points; it makes the shell look dangerous and somewhat attractive as well. Even with its art it’s not an amazing card, I just cannot praise this card in any way, shape, or form.

Steel Shell review

OMG! Bob got his weekly reviews in on Monday? Well today we are looking at Steel Shell, a card that does the exact same thing for Water types as Invigoration did to my Earth-types back when I started out with my Kaiba deck.

A long time ago, that was something beneficial, but now with Equips like United We Stand and Mage Power, there is no need for this card at all. Equips aren’t that useful in the first place, and water decks aren’t all that strong either. Most decks only have room for 1 maybe 2 equips at most, and that’s only if they want to run them. Most decks don’t run any equip cards at all (Snatch and Premature don’t count). So those slots are best off with UWS and MP, which not only can benefit anything, but they give more ATK bonus aswell….

No reason to ever run this card by now

Dark Paladin
Welcome to his week where we'll be looking at...all kinds of stuff from TP cards, fairly useless stuff, and even a banned card for tomorrow.

Today we look at Steel Shell, one of the better equips for water monsters out there. It increases there attack by 400 points (and subsequently lowers there defense by 200 points).

So let's look at that:

Giant Red Seasnake/7 Colored Fish: 2200 atk The Legendary Fisherman: 2250 atk
Suijin: 2900 atk
Giga Gogagio: 2850 atk

Obviously those are without ALO adding on its 200 point bonus but yea.
Go ahead and use one or even two, it adds some power.

Ratings:

2.5/5 in the deck it belongs, all around

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
