Don
Zaloog
We end our week with one of the best cards in ANY
format.
Our last Shonen Jump Champion (which, unfortunately,
is a friend of someone who is an advocate for
original decks), showed there's no reason to fear
Dark World monsters when he ran multiple Dons and
multiple Spirit Reapers in his deck, which was an
unheard of thought at an SJC where Dark World was
just legalized and people would be wanting to try it
(read: abuse it.)
Don's hand discard is still sick and broken and his
effect pretty much ends games at the right time.
Look at him:
Warrior (RotA can pull him on an open field, so your
RotA becomes a hand discard tool) 1400 (Can negate
the advantage of a Sangan, can get back at a Reaper
that attacked you last turn...just watch out for
those Mystic Tomatoes!) Dark (Chaos
Sorcerer-friendly...and can be brought out by the
same Mystic Tomato he feas getting hit by)
Unless someone's running full blown Dark World
against you, there's no reason to stop trying to
hurry the opponent into topdecking. Even with a
possible sided Goldd, you're not always going to hit
that one card out of a 3 or 4 card hand. I've seen
people miss Goldd out of 2 cards, and miss Goldd
multiple times in the same Duel. Granted, Goldd >
this big time, but it can be dodged, short of the
full Dark World deck.
Being that hand discarding Darks are even sicker
when they can pull out BLS or CED, he's good in both
formats.

Don
Zaloog
Yuck! What a stupid card! Don't ever play this card!
Ok. That was a joke. But this card is almost
single-handedly the bain of my
existance. Whatever creative deck I try to make I
seem to still get pwned by
simple Don hits. The effect is straight vicious.
Vicious enough that it
makes this card the single greatest hit on a clear
field in the game.
Luckily enough it cannot be searched by Meanae the
Thorn. Could you imagine
that brokenness? First turn set Meanae. You attack
it. Take Damage. Search
Zaloog. Clear field and Bob's your uncle.
It still has tons of Warrior and Tomato related
support and still
drastically can improve most control builds its used
intelligently in. Some
decks may prefer Spirit Reaper, though, for its
survival ability or Zombie
support, but Warriors should still consider this guy
a superior.

Don
Zaloog is a card every single one of you should be
familiar with.
A note before beginning today...with Dark World
seeing more and more play, you should probably never
choose the first effect of Don (if playing against
Dark World).
Don is better than Cliff our friend from yesterday,
but as I stated, be careful, very careful vs. Dark
World decks. 1400 attack is meh, but you can destroy
more and you might actually get to destroy
something.
I don't mean to be short, but Don is good, and you
knew that.

Don
Zaloog, yeah! This is a historic moment for pojoers,
a card that Bob actually likes. So needless to say
his Dark/Warrior/4 stats make him perfect for Chaos
and warrior decks, but mostly CC decks running the
standard Reinforcement of the Army. His 1400/1500
stats make him searchable via sangan and mystic
tomato. Essentially he’s built for control, and his
effect takes it up a notch.
The effect, two choices. Both depending on battle,
but in this case it’s worth it. Mostly because it’s
not restrictive on what the effect is dealing with.
This effect generates advantage by targeting the
opponent. And to make it even better it targets
their hand. This is huge! The hand is essentially
this game’s mana, I’ve said this thousands of times
on various message boards, and have been saying it
for years. Without a hand you have little options
and struggle to win, Don Zaloog helps this. By
generating a +1 you are getting card advantage out
of this guy, but the bonus is that your +1 is coming
at the expense of a card in your opponent’s hand. So
advantage and narrowing your opponent’s resources.
Seer brilliance. Now if that wasn’t good enough,
after you’ve nailed your opponent’s hand you can
start to eliminate further resources by hitting
their deck. More likely than not you won’t use that
effect, but if you do you are just getting more out
of this guy.
Really running 1 Don in a standard control, chaos or
tomato control deck right now is amazing. This
format allows you to abuse a simple +1, and with
lots of removal you’ll probably get a nice shot in
via Don. All in all he’s awesome, always been a
solid card, and right now just devastating.

Don
Zaloog
Don Zaloog is probably one of the best cards in our
metagame right now outside of DDA, CD, and the few
others to mention. For instance, you can typically
bait out someone elses monsters by setting Don,
either chaining Qidespread/Sakuretsu to kill their
monster (or, let it attack and possibly deal
damage). Typically you're going to want to use his
first effect rather than the latter, as that could
help thin the opponent's deck and provide a faster
way to cards the could use against you (unless you
somehow are into that thing, self masochism in card
games). Very worthwhile card.

Don
Zaloog
Don rocks so much I cant say. Over used, and rightly
so, Don IS weenie rush. Hand advantage in a nutshell
and mega searchable. What’s not to love?
This guy with Spirit Reaper will own, just watch out
for Tomato control, traps in general and Dark World
…ouch….
Traditional : 5/5 Chaos warrior hugs this card and
never lets go….
Advanced : 5/5 A top pick.
Art : 4/5 I don’t know which I prefer, original art,
or the one we got

Dark Scorpion - Don Zaloog the Hand Destroyer
Though that's not his real name, it should be.
Whenever he hits the field your opponant visably
quivers. It's rather obvious why he's so good. He's
a Dark Warrior with a devastating effect and a darn
good ATK. The discard effect is a complete and utter
slap to your opponant, and if you manage to do
damage through a now dead monster, you're giving
yourself field and hand advantage. This guy's about
as broken as it gets. He can settle games by
himself. There's just on big downside, that though
often would be taken advantage of, can be
devastating. Quite simply put, he has 1400 ATK. The
same points of a Dark Plant monster that searches
your deck whenever it dies in battle. Mystic Tomato
slaughters Don Zaloog. In Tomato Control, you simply
summon Tomato, ram it into Don, then search for your
own Don who slaps a card out of their hand. That's
deck thining, damage, field control, and hand
control all in one shot. If you run Chaos Sorcerer,
that's even more advantage.
The stats are pretty dang good. 1400 slips him under
Messenger of Peace, while being able to hold off
pretty well against a few monsters, and it is a good
bit of damage on an open field. 1500 DEF is great,
as it's enough to keep it alive if put facedown and
hit by something like Tomato or D.D. Warrior Lady.
In the case of the former of those two, your
opponant will even have to discard. He make
Tsukuyomi cry, since flipping him facedown still
won't stop him. He's also searchable by Sangan,
Mystic Tomato, and Reinforcement of the Army. Pretty
dang good for such a broken card.
Honestly, this guy would be quite powerful with just
the effect of discarding a card from your opponants
hand. But to make him even better, he gets a second
effect that's useful incase your opponant has no
cards on hand. He knocks two cards off to the top of
the deck, and effectively mills. This is great when
it's getting late in the game, and your opponant is
closing down on the last part of their deck. Don can
force a deckout often, but chances are that if your
opponant is topdecking, you'll have almost sealed
the match anyway. Don Zaloog simply stops your
opponant from ever achieving a combo. Sure, they
could set their magic cards, but that right there is
exactly why Don Zaloog works with Cliff the Trap
Remover. With Don Zaloog, Cliff the Trap Remover,
and Mystic Swordsman LV2 out, your opponant will
most likely forfeit. Chances are good they won't be
drawing into Dark Hole or Snatch Steal anytime soon,
and since they can't set or hold anything without it
being stomped on, then taking damage, they're pretty
screwed.
Splashable is this guys middle name. He fits
perfectly into the following decks commonly run:
ToolBox Warrior, Chaos Warrior, Chaos, Control,
Chaos Control, Aggro Control, and Tomato Control. I
just listed some of the most competitive decks out
there. You can fit him into basicly anything that
isn't completely and utterly based on an attribute
or type.
Don Zaloog is without question the best "Dark
Scorpion". I put it in quotation marks because he
isn't exactly a Dark Scorpion, as Maenae can't
search him out, nor does he have the words Dark
Scorpion in his name. He is however, the most
powerful monster in the current format. He can swing
games and lead to such huge advantages, that outside
of a Dark World Deck he's going to seal the deal.
Run one if ya got it, run three if you want your
opponant to weep openly.
Traditional: 4.5/5 (BLS and CED food that also has a
great effect = Broken as all hell)
Advanced: 5/5 (He's splashable into nearly any deck
that's Tier 1. Infact, he basicly describes Tier 1)

Don
Zaloog:
A card that needs no introduction.
If you haven't seen Don, where have you been?
Players instantly recognised his use and is the best
card in PGD. Alright, he might not have much ATK and
you can suicide Tomato into it, but who really cares
when that one direct attack takes a card from your
opponent's hand. If people are willing to attack
with a 300 ATK Spirit Reaper just to remove a card,
they won't mock 1400.
AND he is a Warrior! Greatest of types! Don has been
used by control decks for as long as he could be.
Combined with a defensive S/T or two, he can
continue to reap advantage. Combine with Blast with
Chain or Mirror Wall for added bonuses!
If you run Control, Aggro/Control, Toolbox, or just
like destroying people's hands (that's cards, not
the fleshy thing on the end of the arm), use Don.
He's your friend.
Traditional: 4.9/5
Advanced: 5/5
Share and enjoy,
Ryoga
