Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

Dunames Dark Witch
Super Rare

Even when all odds are against this brave fairy, she will press onwards in battle and never retreat.

Type - Fairy Level
Card Number - TP8-004

Card Ratings

3 ... average. 5 is the highest rating.

ExMinion OfDarkness
Dunames Dark Witch

200 ATK points short, 3 years too late.

Dunames Dark Witch (which disgraces the abbreviation DDW, which should only be used to address the more powerful D. D. Warrior) is a generic 1800 Light monster. Had we gotten this during Pharaoh's Servant, it might have seen play, as that was the epitome of 1800 ATK beatsticks. Now, we have Cyber Dragon as our main Light monster and non-effect monsters see no play whatsoever as there are so many better options.

In a word, obsolete.

I had to write a CotD for today.

This is quite possibly my favorite Normal Monster ever. I do not consider myself a sucker for cool artwork, but this witch had my heart since the day she gained her dark powers.

She's crappy. Not only do we have better normal monsters stat-wise, we actually have better effect monsters stat-wise. Make no mistake, this card is not good when compared with the ridiculous playing field we have. Doesn't mean it can't look awesome.

Dunames Dark Witch:
Normal monster. Move along. Nothing to see here.

If you really want a review,
- DEF low enough that Tsuki can eat it;
- ATK nothing to call home about;
- nice to have another Fairy.

Traditional: 1/5
Advanced: 1/5

Share and enjoy,

MikeJ Dunames Dark Witch

Level 4/Light

1800 ATK/ 1050 DEF

Fairy

Text: Even when all odds are against this brave fairy, she will press onwards in battle and never retreat.

Wow I really love the text but dislike the card itself for being a TP8 Super Rare plus the name. Now this is one of those cards which has a name that goes against the rest of the card for example Dark Dust Spirit has " Dark " in its name but its a Earth attribute. Now she is a Light attribute but her name is " Dark Witch " soo its like a oxymoron. Now for her playability which there is none, Normal Monsters with 1800 were great back in the good old days with La Jinn & Harpies Brother but nowadays it doesn't matter we have Cyber Dragon for a big hitters which is also a Light plus with that annoying 1050 DEF she is just another kill target for Tsukuyomi. Now the slot for Super Rare in TP8 could have been used on something better in my opinion, Its better off as trade bait or..... if you're a big fan of Mai from the show use it in a character fun deck ( she used this in the battle city finals )

Traditional Format > 1.0/5

Advance Format > 1.5/5

Artwork > 5/5: I really like the artwork plus her flavor text so thats pretty much all its good for

Dunames review:

We're finally getting this card? Took them long enough, to bad I don't care about it anymore.

If this was the MRD days then I'd be excited

Dunames Dark Witch

Welcome to TP8 week. From what I can see, its not that bad, with exception to this out dated card.

Dunames Dark Witch is a ‘solid’ card released about 2/3 years too late.
Back when 1800 was generally the best attack out there for a level 4, well it was at least acceptable. Now a days though, much has changed.

With the ever present , and yet still seldom played, 1900 attack level floors littering our card pools around, any chance of this card making an influential debut is nothing more than a glimpse of fleeting fantasy.

Attack doesn’t win games any more. Powerful effects and opponent manipulation are the keys to success in this game, and sadly for this Witch, she’s packing none of that. The only upside to her is that she’s light. Light works, she won’t.

Traditional : 1/5
Advanced : 1/5 Why run something when there are generally more powerful things available?

Art : 3/5 She’s a pretty sweet piece of card board.
MPS ; 3.5/5 She’s useless, but I like her.

Pippin Um ok. I guess card comes from the days when names really had nothing to do with the actual card. Here we have a vanilla 1800 atk 1050 def. A light fairy named Dark Witch. Did I miss something here? Lets play a little baseball shall we?

PITCH
1: Light attribute - Chaos friedly. Ball one.
2: Fairy type - Lots of recent support. Ball two.
3: 1800 atk - A pretty decent atk in today's game. Ball three.
4: Vanilla - No effect, nada, zip, ziltch. STRIKE 1!
5: 1050 Def - Tsukoyomi bait. STRIKE 2! FULL COUNT!
6: ITS A VANILLA! - See pitch 4... STRIKE 3! YOUR OUT!!

This card just cannot get over the fact that she is a vanilla monster. If you are hard up for a light monster with 1800 atk, get Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke.

Bottom Line:
Traditional: 1.5/5 - Vanilla is evil (.5 for being light and fairy)
Advanced: 1.5/5 - Vanilla is STILL evil (.5 for STILL being light, and STILL being fairy)

Art: 3.5/5 I like the armor clad angelic anime chic, and the name sounds cool. If only they matched.

Until next time, if the name fits, Konami didn't make it.

Pippin
