Return of the Doomed

Wow, a crappy -1!

This is the crappy version of The Warrior Returning Alive. You discard a monster to get back a monster that was killed in battle. And since you can only use it on YOUR turn, it means it had to be one of YOUR monsters that was destroyed, which can only be caused by you ramming something into something stronger, or with an equal ATK score.

Even if it was quick-play, and even without the discard, it just wouldn't be good then either. Why? We all know monsters don't even get destroyed in battle anymore! They get destroyed by Sakuretsu Armor, Mirror Force, Torrential Tribute, Smashing Ground, Exiled Force, and Zaborg the Thunder Monarch's effect...if not removed outright by Nobleman of Crossout, Chaos Sorcerer, D. D. Warrior Lady, or Bottomless Trap Hole.

Sorry, but this card isn't worth any more than the penny (or less) they used in cardboard to print it.

1/5 all

Dark Paladin
Closing out the week of oddities, we look at Return of the Doomed.
This card is terrible, I'm sorry. You have an automatic -1, the fact that you use this Magic card AND a discard. If that weren't enough...

The discard MUST be a Monster card, and the monster only returns to your hand, not even the field. Furthermore, if this wasn't situational enough, the monster has to be destroyed this turn. Confusing, huh?
Well, not really, but this card does win an award.

Return of the Doomed wins the award for most situational card ever. As stated, if that weren't enough, it requires a SPECIFIC discard and a specific set of circumstances to be accomplished. Find as many of these as you can and burn them. Return them to mother Earth.

Ratings:

1/5 and I try to give out a decent score for everything, but this is just not playable and not worth it...sorry

Art: 4/5 It is a cool picture though

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Returned of the Doomed review

Now when I was just glimpsing over this week’s cotds I thought it said Tribute to the Doomed. So I was hoping to have some nostalgia. Never mind.

Return of the Doomed:
Ehm, not the most used card in the universe.

Yes folks, I'm not dead, I just had exams and have spent the past fortnight in my room revising things you don't want to know about. I now return to my life!

Sadly, this card isn't a particularly interesting return. A -1 that lets you get a monster back.
However, as you can only activate this during your turn and it only affects monsters destroyed as a result of battle, the only use it has is if you intend to suicide into an opponent's monster (or are psychic and know your opponent will active Rush Recklessly).
If it was Quick-Play, it might have a whim of a use.
As it stands, nothing.

Return of the Doomed - Normal Spell card

Effect - Discard 1 Monster Card from your hand to the Graveyard. Return 1 of your monsters that is sent to your Graveyard during this turn as a result of the battle to your hand at the end of this turn.

Well, this card may seem good at first, but when looked at closer, its not that great of a card, lets see if my recent attempt at a pro and con list can show you what I mean…

Pros: ~ You can set up a good play, knowing the fact that you’ll get your monster back, and they won’t
~ With todays meta, people are playing treeborn frogs and night assailants, which can be used as good discard fodder
~ You can discard other things, such as a tribute like jinzo, airknight, or a light/dark for your sorcerer
~ You get a monster back to your hand (duh)

Cons: ~ Its basically a -1
~ Usually if your monster was destroyed in battle, it probably wont be of much help that next turn either…
~ Its not worth getting rid of another card from your hand to get something that’s dead already
~ Did I mention its not worth paying the cost of this card?

In short, I don’t like cards like this that make you discard for something. Usually the effect doesn’t immediately help you. Like I stated in my cons, whatever you may get back, probably wont help you much next turn, because it will probably be destroyed again, and by again, I mean, lol, you’re a n00b for playing that and discarding a card from your hand just so I can destroy it again, kind of help. Till next week duelist…

All: 1.5/5

Return from the doomed ;

Awesome art, terrible effect. By discarding a monster from your hand you can get one back from the grave this turn if destroyed in battle. This means that you activate this, then intentionally get a monster destroyed, then return the monster from the grave to your hand. There are two cards that work better than this ;

Monster reincarnation, and last will, both of which aren’t REALLY considered to be anything special. (Although I’m partial to Last will now everything’s different about it)

At a push, actually an enormous haul, this thing may finds its way into some cooky Tomato control, Creature swap, radical control kid of deck, but otherwise its fairly useless.

Ps ; 1 more exam to go !!! Yipee !!!
