ExMinion OfDarkness
Deck Devastation Virus

This is the best card that's not seeing much play in the US.

DDV is an absolutely devastating card when placed in the right deck. You can't just have your two copies of Chaos Sorcerer and two copies of DDV and hope for them to do well. The deck has to have a custom build around the Virus to work well. Dark World gets a good boost from it, having both Goldd and Sillva that will usually hit the field for free one way or another, and decks that already run Chaos Sorcerer in addition to a couple of other DWers or eligible monsters will get use of it. Zombyra the Dark is a Normal Summon card that can pay that cost, as is Giant Orc.

Having talked enough about how you have to struggle to get it to work, the effect is amazing. Your opponent will usually lose at least one monster on the field, one in their hand, and it makes for lots of potential dead draws for the opponent (and makes the opponent think twice about activating that Graceful they topdecked!) Speaking of topdecked...you get to see them all for the next 3 turns, along with all monsters on the field and in hand. It's like Confiscation on Barry Bonds-level steroids, and even if you miss absolutely everything regarding DDV's destruction effect, you could possibly gain an advantage through other plays you wouldn't have made without knowing the opponent's cards.

The key to mitigating DDV's cost (itself and a tributed monster) is to make the opponent waste a card in the process. If your opponent was going to Sakuretsu Armor/Bottomless Trap Hole/Mirror Force/Smashing Ground/Exiled Force your 2000+ monster, or MST/Heavy your DDV, instead of it being a -2 to get DDV's effect, it's only a -1. You want to react with DDV, not be the first to act (unless your opponent has a face-down and clearing it out of the way would win you the game).

I'm suprised it hasn't made a huge impact on the tournament scene in the US, but I guess it's just too unwieldy and inconsistent to do so.

Deck Destruction Virus is a Normal Trap.  At the cost of offering a Dark Monster with 2000 or more ATK points as Tribute, you not only get to eliminate all 1500 or less ATK Monsters from your opponent’s side of the field and hand, but for the next three turns, you also nuke any they draw into.  This has some wonderful side effects: you get to “peak” at any Set Monsters you opponent has (granted most will also be destroyed by the effect), you get to peak at their draws for the next three turns (making it hard to surprise you), and it makes the use of draw power unappealing for the duration of the effect.

In the current Metagame, low ATK Monsters are quite commonly played.  Looking at the U.S. National champ’s deck (which I’d like to think is a good example), 11 of his 22 Monsters main decked would be destroyed by Deck Devastation Virus, though the Night Assailant wouldn’t matter if he had a Flip Effect worth retrieving as it does trigger when destroyed in this manner.  Also, this is a good time to point out he had Deck Devastation Virus in his Side Deck.

While most decks don’t run a lot of 2000+ ATK Dark Monsters, there are two that are fairly easy to side into most decks: Zombyra the Dark and Giant Orc.  Neither is especially hard to get and both make good, offensive walls: even Cyber Dragon can’t take down Giant Orc, and must kamikaze into Zombyra.

Although, like most Traps, Deck Devastation Virus would technically be better as a Quick-Play, as a Trap you can use it to bait out removal.  This matters because by simply waiting for the inevitable low ATK Monster to be in play and waiting for the opponent to try and nuke your set (and legal to activate) Deck Devastation Virus, you ensure the worst that can happen (barring Monster based S/T removal) is evening out the card count (your Trap and Monster for their Spell or Trap and Monster), plus you get the bonus of seeing several of their cards.

Well, I am sorry if this review seemed a bit simple, but Deck Devastation Virus is just a strong, obnoxious card.  A single copy and some “food” for it are well worth three or four Side Deck slots.  If you’re running a deck that already has some fodder main decked, then at least one copy of Deck Devastation Virus should be main decked as well.  Now that it is at two per deck, Deck Devastation Virus decks (probably with a few copies of Skill Drain as well) are not only possible, but I think viable.  After all, most decks will still have room for the standard Monster and Spell/Trap removal, so it’s quite likely that once you infect them, you can unload a steady barrage of 2000+ ATK beatsticks hitting directly for three turns.

Ratings

Traditional       : 2/5 – Potentially useful, but also potentially useless: your opponent doesn’t care if you send D. D. Warrior Lady and Witch of the Black Forest to the Graveyard, because you missed their Chaos Emperor Dragon or Black Luster Soldier.

Advanced        : 3.5/5 – That is with respect to your main deck: it’s a 4/5 for the Side Deck, only hurt since you need to include at least two or three of the right Monsters to fuel the effect.

Dark Paladin
Today we look at Deck Devestation Virus, a trap that can be very deadly. Tribute 1 DARK monster with an ATK of 2000 points or more on your side of the field. Check all monsters on your opponent's side of the field, your opponent's hand, and all cards he/she draws (until the end of your opponent's 3rd turn after this card's activation), and destroy all monsters with an ATK of 1500 or less.

This card is good, even though you have to tribute a Dark monster and it has to have 2000 attack or more. I'd say this isn't very splashable, but why not use it in a Zombie deck, where it may be near staple?

You can use THREE Vampire Lord now, and he fits all the criteria for this card. Then, you get to look at your opponent's field AND their hand, which is great for a duelist so you know what may be coming. You even get to look at the next three cards they draw.

Ratings:

2.5/5 all around
4/5 Zombie using two or more Vampire Lord

Art: 4/5

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Deck Devestation Virus:
Hmmm. Counting.

DDV is a tetchy little card that can give decent returns and will at least let you see your opponent's hand for the next three turns. Best used when you have a suitable monster to tribute that is already on the brink of death (i.e. the ground under it is feeling slightly smashed) to maximise on that lovely card advantage thingy. Against agro builds, this will be virtually useless, but that's what the side deck's for, now isn't it?

Deck Devastation Virus

Welcome to my third day of....my cards that I picked xP.

Today is Deck Devastation Virus. This card is REALLY good. Its a spell speed 2 trap, you tribute a DARK monster on your side of the field with 2000 attack points or more, (Note that its attack CAN be boosted by cards such as Rush Recklessly and other ATK increasing cards and be a legitimate target for the Deck Dev Virus, and the monster you tribute CAN be face/down.), and then you check all of your opponents Face/Down monsters (If any), and if any of them have an attack of 1500 or less, they are immediately destroyed. Flip effects do no activate.

Then, for the next 3 turns (Turn one being your opponents first turn after this cards activation if you activate it on your turn, or if you activate it on their turn that turn is Turn #1.) check all cards drawn by your opponent, if any of THEM are monsters with an attack of 1500 or less, THEY are also destroyed. Nifty huh?

Now lets discuss tribute fodder/targets. The best ones I can think of off the top of my head would be:

Giant Orc -- 2200 attack runs over Cyber Dragons, and although it will be shifted to defense after attacking, its just ripe for tributing for your Deck Devastation Virus!
Zombyra the Dark -- 2100 attack, runs into Cyber Dragons killing them both (Of course if that's Zombyras first attack.), and its searchable by Reinforcement of the Army, making the combo that much easier to pull off! One it attack it goes down to 1900. Then 1700. So after two attacks, its at 1700, and still a very solid monster for running over flips, D.D. Monsters, and Breaker the Magical Warrior.
Chaos Sorcerer -- Ouch what a great idea! Summon Sorcerer, remove their faceup monster, then you get to use your Deck Devastation Virus! You can always just summon him, attack and run into Sakuretsu Armor/Mirror Force and then CHAIN Deck Devastation Virus. The combos are wicked.
Goldd - Wu Lord of Dark World -- Also a great target. Summonable by Morphing Jar, Graceful Charity and more, and has a wicked nice 2300 attack score and of course is great vs control monsters such as Don Zaloog and Spirit Reaper.

Deck Devastation also has its own side deck! Referred to by players as "Viral Side", it includes Legal Deck Dev targets, Tutors for that target (If available), and 2 copies of Deck Devastation. Of course, that's not 15 cards, so the rest would be either OTK Hate, or even more Anti Meta cards, as that's Deck Devs purpose, ripping apart all the general Flip Flop decks!

Traditional: No idea.
Advanced: 4/5.

Dark Maltos
Deck Devastation Virus :

Ahh a card after my own heart. Im fortunate to own an Ultimate rare 1st edition one of these, not that I’m bragging.

Deck devastation virus has always been a brutally effective card when pulled off, especially considering the high use of mini monsters this past two formats. Potentially, at the very best this is a 2 for 14, with you losing 2 cards for their field, hand and next 3 draws to be completely eradicated, but this is more than very unlikely.

Deck devastation virus hits them where it hurts, and its always unpleasant to be on the receiving end of one of these, as you are forced to watch helplessly as your best effect monsters are reduced to tatters.

Recently semi limited, this card is best suited to Dark World, Grave keepers, Zombie and Chaos Virus, (a brutally effective deck).

Its power is immense in the right hands, being chainable . This gives it the potential to be there as a safety net for a monster, letting it be offered up for protection against Snatch Steal, Sakurtsu Armour, Brain Control, Smashing Ground and essentially anything else, as well as hitting them hard for the next few turns.

Basically, if you have a deck running a lot of high attack dark monsters, stick in one of these. You probably won’t be disappointed.

Traditional : 2.5/5 Its not best to fill up their Chaos slots.
Advanced : 4/5 Brutal

Art ; 4/5 Gorgeous
MPS : 5/5
