ExMinion OfDarkness	Granmarg the Rock Monarch Speaking of Monarchs...today we review the weakest of the four. Right now, Zaborg and Mobius are fighting over the top spot when it comes to things to sack for. Thestalos is seeing a little play as well (but not much given people still run random Goldds), but Granmarg is nowhere to be seen. He only destroys one card, even though it can be monster or S/T. The other problem is if the card's flipped face-up in response to the effect, then it fizzles. Ceasefire would save a monster; chaining (even if not doing anything to the summon) would save a S/T. Sorry, but I'd rather stick with Mobius and Zaborg. As much as free destruction is good, no-questions-asked destruction without less possibility of another effect saving the card is better. 2/5 all
Dark Paladin	Granmarg the Rock Monarch is a good idea that went horribly wrong. He's like a terrible Fusion of Mobius and Zaborg. While Mobius can strike up to two m/t cards and Zaborg can hit a monster, Granmarg can hit one face down card on the field. Monster, Magic, or Trap. If he could hit one of each, that would be incredible, but let's not dwell on what could have been. Granmarg is fairly unincredible, but for those of you playing Monarch/Soul Control, you of course run it, with Treeborn Frog and the other Monarchs, for a happy family. Outside of the Monarch control deck however, he's pretty unuseful. Granmarg also has the side-effect that he has to hit one of your face down cards if your opponent doesn't have one, just like Zaborg would. Ratings: 4.25/5 Monarch Control 2/5 elsewhere Art: 3/5 You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
Ryoga	Granmarg the Rock Monarch: The third least popular monarch, after the Dark and Wind that don't exist. Granmarg is a good monster. The only reason he doesn't see much play is that his older brothers are rather more useful. His ability is powerful, but most people think of all the times you couldn't use him. During most of the game, your opponent will have cards in his hand and monsters, spells, and traps on the field that the other monarchs can obviously relieve your opponent of. Face-down cards are slightly less obvious. So really, it's just a matter of choice. And, if you're running chaos sorcerer, you'll always go for the Light over the Earth. Dark Maltos	Granmarg the Rock monarch: Of all the monarchs, I’d say that this is the less frequently used , but since its being released in a starter deck soon, that may all change. Granmarg has a pretty decent ability, especially considering the lack of chainable traps and the increase in face down monster play over the last few months. He’s not as m/t destructive as Mobius, he’s not as good at monster removal as Zaborg, but he’s a happy medium and the ability to alternate between the two could make all the difference.
