Makyura the Destructor

This one's gonna be short and sweet, folks. I don't dedicate a lot of time to banned cards.

When we last reviewed this, this card was actually going to be legal for a while, and if we had gotten Exchange of the Spirits earlier, would have seen play. But as it was banned before we even got the chance to abuse it, it will most likely never see any play.

If you've ever played the OCG (Yu-Gi-Oh in Japan), you know why this thing's banned. If you haven't, just chalk it up to combos we'll never see.

Ok, apology time. I didn't mean for us to review TWO banned cards this week, again, I apologize, but today we look at Makyura the Destructor.
Maky (for short) is our connection to Wolverine as he has three gigantic claws on each hand.

Maky is a great card, one that was sadly banned before we were allowed to try him out in the advanced format. Now, note the effect, when he is sent to the Graveyard, you can activate traps from your hand. Note that it doesn't specify how.

You can send him from your hand as a discard. He can be destroyed as battle. Your opponent can discard him from your hand. It doesn't matter how he gets to the Graveyard as long as he gets there.

Maky is a great tech card and obviously one built for trap heavy decks.
Go ahead and use him where you're allowed, it may be a nice surprise for you, and your opponent.

Art: 5/5 freaking awesome

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Makyura the Destructor:
A vital card for my puzzles, and a decent test to see if you can remember obscure spellings.

Makyura has never seen the light of play in the lands away from the rising sun, as he/she/it can be used to get around that little restriction on trap cards, and game designers generally don't like circumventing their own rules. Mostly Makyura is used to speed up OTKs using traps, as otherwise they'd have to wait one possibly damaging turn. However, I doubt we'll ever get know just how useful it is.

Traditional: 1/5
Advanced: n/a
Traditional OTK: 4/5
X-Men: 3/5 (It looks wierd enough.)

Share and enjoy,
Ryoga

Makyura the Destructor

Here Wolverine !!! I think this was pretty cool, as Makyura is definitely the closest thing to Logan we’ve got right now.

Makyura’s use has been limited for a long time now, ever since the discovery of the infamous combo with Chick the Yellow and Call of the Haunted. it’s a shame really, but I suppose it’ll be a while before we get to use him over in advanced.

Makyura’s effect is pretty simple, whenever he’s sent to the grave, you can activate traps from you hand. Interesting in a Uria deck, certainly. Also, in About every other deck come to mention it, since the only weakness of traps is having to set them first, this gets past that.

Traditional ; 4/5 (OTK)
Advanced ; Banned / 5
