ExMinion OfDarkness
Herald of Purple Light

Unlike most cards that require discards, this one has ONE situation where it could be used and the player not get chastised for it.

This IS a -1 at first glance; you discard it and a fairy to block a Trap. The Fairy part automatically limits it to being used in a Counter-Fairy deck, and the discard assures you'll almost never want to play it. However, it SHOULD be sided in Counter-Fairy decks if you have the room. Why? First turn sided Royal Decrees.

Unless you have the MST or Heavy Storm in hand, the counter-fairy deck is crippled by a player going "set/set, end..." waiting for your turn to finish, and then going "end of turn, Royal Decree". This gives you an answer to that, and pretty much guarantees you'll get your Traps online -- because assuming you set Solemn or other anti-Decree answers, you'll be able to use them since they've been set for a turn.

This is one of the great side deck cards out there that can really turn a game -- Kuriboh is the "screw you" to Stein players, My Body as a Shield is the "screw you" to a deck running double/triple Zaborg, and the Herald of Purple Light is the "screw you" to the sided Royal Decrees that come in against Counter-Fairies.

Advanced: 3/5 (averaging the 1/5 it gets on its own against the 5/5 it gets in the Counter-Fairy side deck)

Ryoga
Herald of Purple Light:
Kuriboh's dominance of the walking spell card in Yu-Gi-Oh remains unchallenged.

I have wanted Kuriboh-like monsters for Spell/Trap negation/destruction for quite some time, and this comes oh so close. I know that we generally don't get advantage friendly counters, so I didn't expect one here, but the limitation to a Fairy discard really shoots this card in the foot. With a general discard, this might be playable as tutorable, virtually unstopable negation. As it stands, Counter Fairies wouldn't consider this over a standard counter trap since the latter triggers their various effects.

This monsters ability was decent. Back when that one deck ( the one with all the spell cards that used life equalizer) was being played. But we no longer worry about that, thus I see no point to ever run this. Even against Cyber Stein/Burn decks we have better options.

1/5

It just has no point right now.

Herald of Purple light ;

If it weren’t for the extra cost of discarding a Fairy, this would be very good. If only it worked with Winged Kuriboh, ahh well.

Essentially 1 for 2 is not that good , so this ‘ll never really kick off in popularity, but at the right time , depending on the situation it’s worth it.

All I know is that having cards like this in your hand is pretty cool since people don’t see them coming. Kuriboh rocks for that, and with the right design so could this.

The good thing is you don’t fear over extension with this in your hand, and you’re always prepared for the worst, which is reassuring.

Herald of Purple Light

Finally we look at Herald of Purple Light from the EOJ set. This card is a fairy which we dont have much of imo.

Basically send this card and 1 other fairy type from your hand to negate the

activation of a trap and destroy it. It can be activated during anyone's turn. Its weak though, so you wont be bringing out to field, unless you need

to save your lp's or Avarice it. I unno, stoping 1 Trap wont be enough, plus

you waste another card in hand to stop the Trap. Imo its crap.

Herald of Purple Light

I think I slacked off yesterday…I didn’t realize it until this morning. Heh heh.

The Fairies that we released in the Enemy of Justice set are really interesting. I was always concerned with kind of deck these fairies could make. I think they could come together to make a sick Control deck. I know Jerome McHale tried a build at a Shonen Jump Championship. He did pretty well.

Herald of Purple Light is the one I don’t like really. I think that Herald of Green Light is more powerful. Either way, their effects can be used on either turn and at any time except in the damage step. I wish more monsters were made with multi-trigger effects. The game is getting a bit more complicated as the sets go by, which is cool. That will open up a whole new realm of opportunity for us as deck builders and players.

Any Fairy deck can support this guy since it only requires you to discard him and 1 other Fairy monster. Sweet deal. Trap negation that you can activate from your hand. That’s an interesting concept. I’m been working on formulating a deck build for a Fairy deck. Can anyone give me some ideas or inspiration? Email me at: deathjester86@gmail.com.

Last Word: I LOVE the idea of multi-trigger effects. It’s like playing VS or MTG. Very fun. YGO could use more multi-trigger effects. Try a Fairy deck and see if it works for you. If you don’t want to try it, then send it to me. I’ll try it 
