Legendary Ocean
Contrary to popular belief, this card isn't
necessary in EVERY water deck -- just the ones
running the Levia-Dragons or physically require the
card to be there for some reason.
The 200 ATK bonus is negligible -- I wouldn't play a
Field Spell that boosted by 200 back when ATK
boosting was actually considered good, and I sure as
heck wouldn't play one just for that now. The main
thing here is the Level being dropped a star -- Giga
Gagagigo can come out without Tribute, Levia-Dragon
can come out with only 1 Tribute...but really, those
are the only two big reasons to play ALO.
Most of a Water deck's tricks can go off without ALO
being present. Mother Grizzly searching into Poison
Draw Frog, Yomi Ship, and the like, Salvage getting
back weak Water monsters with great effects, heck,
even Treeborn and Mobius, pretty much staples in
Monarch Control, are both Water.
I could see this deck getting some play in the new
format (so much is playable with Sorcerer gone), but
it doesn't really NEED ALO to do it.
4/5 for the water deck, 2.75/5 for the water deck
including ALO.

Legendary Ocean
Probably one of the best field cards ever made. It
gave water a boost that it needed, and allowed the
archetype to diversify. From high-level drops, to
hiding under G-Bind, ALO allowed for those wildcard
water decks to be the first attribute deck to stand
a solid chance.
In the current meta, with both LLAB and GBind at
one, the weenie style water decks will be hurting,
especially since ALO clashes with Messenger of
Peace. They can still attempt to run with one of
each, but would be hard pressed to ensure field
lock-downs. Overall the deck will need to be revised
in order to compensate for this loss.
The water agro on the other hand has always had
instability issues. Even though the beatsticks
within would allow for them to run over Cyber
Dragon, the deck relies on ALO. That reliance is a
weakness that the tier 1 decks will abuse. The deck
would get some surprise factor in game one, but
after the opponent sides would be hard pressed to
pull off the same feat in game two.
Essentially both versions need to be looked at, more
likely than not a control version utilizing LLAB and
GBind would prove to be more stable and effective.
Both really need revising under the new bans to see
if they can even attempt to compete with the tier
one decks.

A Legendary Ocean
The only legitimate reason to consider playing a
normal monster (though the argument for Luster
Dragon is alright).
A Legendary Ocean isn't that good in itself; 200 ATK
is neither here nor there. It's all the cards opened
up that are great. Giga Gagagigo, Catapult Turtle,
heck, even Orca Mega-Fortress are no tribute
monsters.
Beatsticks-r-us! And, if you need a bomb for the new
format, Levia Dragon is just one tribute away.
Water decks have a surprising amount of support and
could see play without the overbearing requirement
of Light/Dark. Water's main problem lies in its
aggressive nature, which rarely appeals to the
seasoned player. Especially if that seasoning is
control.
Traditional: 2/5
Advanced: 3.5/5
Share and enjoy,

Legendary Ocean
This card is decent, the one thing that made water
playable. But as time has gone on, the water deck
has gradually broken away from ALO. Becoming more
aggro and field conscience. Water Art-AOI has made
the water theme even better. The only reason I'd say
run this card is to use Ocean Dragon Lord and his
contemporary.

When you do a review on ALO, you are essentially
reviewing the entire basis of a Water themed deck.
Ever since the days of LOD this has replaced Umi and
given Water decks one of the most significant boosts
in the history of the game.
With it, you can squeeze out the necessity of a
tribute for any level 5 Water monster, and give it a
mini boost. You can also allow your level 4 monsters
slip underneath a few great stall cards like Gravity
bind and LLAB , not to mention activating a certain
few effects that find their way into most water
decks. In a water deck, this is a must in my
opinion, and rarely it isn’t used. Sorry for the
short review, but there’s not much else to say about
this is there?

Legendary Ocean
Basic Summary: I love ALO decks too bad I haven't
see many of those decks nowadays, Now making all
Water types downgrade there level is very cool since
it makes things like Mermaid Knight , Amphibious
Bugroth MK-3 , and Submarineroid 1 star less soo
they can attack under the protection of Gravity
Bind/Level Limit Area B or bring out Terrorking
Salmon at 2600 with no tribute if you want to go
that way or the sneak attack way :D. Now it goes
with out saying that if you're running a Water deck
you should be running this card plain and simple.
Conclusion: Now much like Necrovalley this card has
a few amazing cards ( Mentioned a few good ones
above ) that make this deck fun test out which ones
you like the most.
Traditional Format > 1/5:
Advance Format > 5/5: ( ALO deck )
Artwork 3/5: The great city of Atlantis very cool
indeed

Legendary Ocean
Today we look at more Field cards, and we land on A
Legendary Ocean which was first released in the LoD
set.
So basically if your running a water deck, try to
run these as they come in handy, even more then Umi
imo. Plus it looks alot better. It can help ease the
tribute monsters in your hand, and decreases them 1
level. But remember that goes for both opponents, so
your opponent can get the effect too.
It also increases the ATK and DEF of all water
monsters by 200, which is a little boost, but not
that much, if it was 400 or so more, it be way
better.
Sometimes 200 wont matter, sometimes it will but on
the more likely matter it wont.
Run these in water decks, nothing else, if you run
in anything else, you honestly need to quit and give
me all your cards.

Legendary Ocean: DB2-EN187
I’ve always loved this card. There are too many
combos and too many decks you can come up with that
revolve around this card. The Water attribute is
home to some of the most hardcore control strategies
known to Yugioh except it relies on a game mechanic
that is not necessarily numerically advantageous:
Bounce.
Bounce control is possible with or without ALO. You
have Nightmare Penguin, Abyss Soldier, Penguin
Soldier, Compulsory Evacuation Device, etc available
to you. In theory, keeping a tight control over your
opponent’s game via Bounce effects should render
him/her incapable of doing anything (I haven’t
actually subscribed to this deck type yet; Cyber
Dragon kind of throws Bounce out the window you
know?). I’ll try it after I’ve tested the other 12
decks I have listed.
Anyway, A Legendary Ocean automatically lowers to
level of all of your monsters on the field or in
each player’s hand by 1. You can summon Orca,
Catapult Turtle, B.E.S. Crystal Core, Giga Gagagigo,
and Legendary Fisherman (Just to name a few…) as if
they were Level 4 monsters. I like that ability.
If you prefer a more subtle Control-like approach
then you can go with the smaller monsters of the
group like: Hydrogeddon, Amphibious Bugroth, Abyss
Soldier, Fenrir, and others. You can’t really do
Stall anymore without some extra Gravity Bind and
Level Limit Area-B right? I would stick to a Control
approach and focus on gaining some serious numerical
advantage with some of our Water monsters’ sick
advantage generating effects.
Last Word: It’s a good card, it might see play this
format, but it doesn’t really NEED to be played to
have a functional Water deck. Testing shows the
format to be WAY too aggressive for some Control
decks to thrive just yet. I don’t discourage the use
of Control decks at all. If you can find a way to
slow an Aggro deck down (gain tempo) to a point
where you put the brakes on it, then you’ve scored
yourself a win. Water decks MIGHT be able to do
that.
Traditional: 1/5 (Outclassed in this format)
Advanced: 3/5 (Haven’t tested this yet, so I’ll give
it an average score)

Legendary Ocean
Acts Like Umi on steroids.
With Chaos in the ground and no set deck type to be
found, attribute is no longer a selling point for
cards. Water can become viable again. Heck one of
the best monsters in the game is water. Mobius :)
What is this cards best quality? It drops all water
monsters level by 1.
Terrorking Salmon becomes a 2600 1200 4 star
vanilla. OUCHIE! Legendary Fisherman loves this too.
There are several monsters that have effects if Umi
is on the field and this makes all those possible
AND degrades the level by 1. All the 4 stars smack
through Gravity Bind and Level Limit Area B.
Daedelus and his big brother Neo Daedelus also get
their effects.
So what is the matter? Why is no one playing this
card? Because like all the cards from this week, it
is a field magic card. There is only so much
protection you can give a magic or trap.
Bottom Line: Water Deck - 5/5 all
Outside a water deck - 1/5 all
Art: 3/5 Nothing to write home about, but Atlantis
never looked better.
Until Next Time, CURSE YOU AQUASCUM!!
Pippin
