Victory Viper XX03
It sucks when you want to play a card, but another
card does it better, doesn't it?
Vic Viper was heavily promoted by one of my friends
a few months ago, but the main reason it saw play
(the free summon) was beaten out by something
better. You may recognize that card from the last
SJC; Hydrogeddon.
As for the Viper itself, it gets one of 3 effects
when it kills something; it goes up 400 ATK, kills a
face-up Spell or Trap, or summons a token version of
itself that gets the same ATK and whatnot, but not
the effect.
The free ATK bump isn't really that good. Odds are
if your opponent has a face-up Spell or Trap, you
either can't attack anyway (it's a stall card) or
it's Premature Burial (the rare case you WILL get
some use out of this.) The option token is what
could make this see play -- you'd get a bonus for
destroying an opponent's face-down Dekoichi, Tomato,
Treeborn, most flip effect monsters...
Hydrogeddon already HAS the +400 ATK bump, gets
another copy of itself, and then that copy can get
your 3rd copy. If I'm going to dedicate deck space
to free Summons, it's going to be those.
Victory Viper could set up something cool with
Limiter Removal, but there are much better, purple,
two-or-three-words-in-their-name Fusion monsters to
use with Limiter Removal.
Sorry, but Machines ALREADY have enough love from
Cyber Dragon, Cyber-Stein, Cyber Phoenix, Reflect
Bounder, Jinzo...
1/5 all formats.

Victory Viper:
Why does a space plane have such a low attack? An
X-Wing would not lose in battle to a fast duck!
This destroying a monster is somewhat hard, though
it could deal with Flip effects in general. Of it's
three effects, destroying an s/t is obviously the
best. Turn combat into a 2-4-0 or make your opponent
waste that Sakuretsu, Mirror Force, etc. just
because it would be useless otherwise. The Option
Token ranks next because a free monster for tributes
or just a tad more damage is always good. Just make
sure you use them before this dies. Extra ATK is
fairly unneccessary as monsters never live that
long.
Overall, a nice idea, but not very easy to use.

When this card destroys an opponent's monster as a

This is actually one of those cards people deem as
playable but not really worth playing. I deem this
card a skill card. Being one of the few monsters
search able via Shining Angel, it combos well in
Ojama Lock down decks. It is also made to be Cyber
Phoenix's best buddy. Honestly, giving you free
field presence with the ability to protect itself.
I my only disappointment with this card is the fact
it is a spaceship. I was looking forward to a
picture of a Snake. Yu-Gi-Oh needs more snake
monsters. Sinister Serpent is great, but you know he
is kinda pointless now.
I have never played Victory Viper but have witnessed
it win a few local tourny's (STEVE YOU DA MAN) A
powerful card if you take its weak stats into
account.
One more thing, flip limiter removal over and have
fun with your token.

Victory Viper
Ahh, the joys of a shorten weekend from school. Our
final card of the day for this week is Victory
Viper.
I actually like this card, and think it can do
somewhat good in this format.
My friend Ryan, played these at one of my locals and
it did very good placing him in Top4(he was playing
Machines).
The ability to make it gain more attack or create
tokens is quite good. If your running a Machine
deck, definatly try this. Its one off the better
machine types out there, that dont see much play but
should.

Victory Viper XX03
This card just seemed so fun to me
when I first pulled it out of a pack. I never made a
deck out it, but I’m sure I will. He has three
abilities that you get when you destroy a monster as
a result of battle:
-
Increase the
ATK of this card by 400 points
-
Destroy 1
face-up Spell or Trap card on the field
-
Special
Summon 1 “Option Token” to your side of the
field. It always has the same Type, Attribute,
Level, ATK, and DEF of this card.
The second ability is a waste of
space. The first ability is pretty sweet, but I
really like the third ability. That ability makes
Victory Viper seem like another Hydrogeddon, but the
token itself gets a nice continuous ability. Take a
look at the effect “It always the same Type,
Attribute, Level, ATK, and DEF of this card.” What
does this mean? It means that if you were to boost
Victory Viper’s ATK, the Option Token would have the
same ATK power. Rush Recklessly ringing any bells
here?
Victory Viper’s stats make him easy
to search for and summon. He’s a 1200 ATK to start
off with. This makes him searchable by both Sangan
and Last Will. If you want to get creative with this
card you can use Ojama Trio to score free hits for
his ability. If you’re crafty enough, you can even
use Infernal Reckless Summon to get more of these
guys to field.
Last Word: The only advantage
Hydrogeddon has over this monster is a higher ATK.
Think about, it’s pretty cool. I’m a bit more
optimistic about this card since it actually has
some decent effects. We’ll see how the format pans
out to see if he will actually be useful in a
mainstream deck.
