D. D. Assailant
Man, I remember when you had to have 3 of this to
stay competitive. Now it's just a matter of choice
whether you want to run any of the 2 you're allowed.
In a Warrior deck, it's a great card all-around. A
searchable 1700 ATKer that can ram itself to remove
something bigger, not a bad DEF either -- that magic
1600 is enough to stall Hydrogeddon if it's set, and
then possibly attack over it next turn. With Cyber
Dragons and Monarchs being thrown around like
nothing, it's not as strong as it once was, and the
other main decks either don't care about it
attacking (Chain burn), can get rid of it way too
easily and make its effect worthless anyway
(Gadgets), actually WANT most of their monsters
removed in the long run (DDT), or will only attack
after clearing the field of monsters, not to mention
everything else (Demise OTK.)
Recently, it was heralded as an answer to Sacred
Phoenix decks with the new banlist...Sacred Phoenix
decks that no one ran.
This card used to get thrown in to everything. Now
it's lucky to see any play. When it comes to
Warriors, the hot topic is Six Samurai. But at least
I'll have the memories of ordering many, many copies
of Destiny Board Traveler at $13 each from EB Games,
just to get the DDAs that were then traded for $60
in stuff each. Good times...

DD Assailant went from being unrestricted to
Restricted, and now she is Semi-restricted...why?
She isn't as big a threat as she use to be, and
neither are Warriors or the Warrior Toolbox.
That being said, I'm not saying DD Assailant still
isn't good, not at all. Just, when a card or
decktype become less of a problem, cards that may
have been limited or whatnot become less of a
problem, so you can use more of them.
DD Warrior Lady is still the card of choice, and the
focus seems to be on destroying monsters in this
format still, just like last format, as opposed to
removing things. If you need a little extra removal,
play both, but unless you use Warrior Toolbox, you
probably don't need two.
Ratings:
Traditional: 2/5 DD Warrior Lady here, she is Light
Advanced: 3.2/5 Still solid
Art: 4/5 Final Fantasy sword?
You stay classy, Planet Earth :) |

DDA :
If you were to pan his picture slightly to the left,
you would see the head of a sacred phoenix.
Yes, he's still good, but most people seem to have
better things to do with their deck than run this
simple 1-4-1. Warriors still love him, and anything
based around the different dimension can benefit
from the reasonably sized monster in the RFG zone.
However, his day seems to be slightly past for
widespread use.

D.D. Assailant
The #1 reason why the GBA Game 'Destiny Board
Traveler' sold more than 100 copies. Lousy Game.
Awesome Promos!
I wasn't playing competitively when AssailantBox was
around, but I remember that tail end of it. Many
people were upset when DDA was Limited to 1 (likely
more to do with the fact that they had dropped $20
for each DDA, then remorse over a dead decktype) and
felt that it was unwarrented. I agreed back then,
and I agree even today. D.D. Assailant is one of
those many cards that should be at 3.
It's stats are fairly decent, and it's effect almost
guarantees that it's a 1-for-1 exchange for your
opponent, but at no time in history has D.D.
Assailant been better then today. Why?
D.D. Assailant laughs at 'Shrink'.
Imagine the following:
- Player 1 attacks with his D.D. Assailant, against
Player 2's Don Zaloog and face-down Shrink.
In any other scenario, Player 2 is looking to score
a +1.
- Player 2 would lose Shrink (-1)
- Player 1 would lose their monster, and 1 card from
their hand (-2)
D.D. Assailant however, turns the above into a
straight 2-for-2 exchange. If you want, swap out Don
Zaloog for Hydrogeddon to get an even clearer
picture of what I'm talking about.
The one thing that always seemed to define D.D.
Assailant has been her cost/rarity. I remember
paying $19 for her off eBay, to play alongside the
one I got from the GBA Game. Since her restriction
though, her price has dropped significantly. Add to
that the good folks over at UDE including her in the
upcoming Champion Pack 3 as a RARE, and we are
finally at a place where everyone can get a full
playset.
I hope that one day D.D.A will be back at 3 where
she belongs. Seeing as how DDT and Doomize OTK are
dominating the Metagame, I don't see what Konami has
to fear from AssailantBox anymore.

We once again say hello to a very popular warrior…….
DD Assailant
Warrior-Earth
Level 4
1700 atk. 1600 def.
When this card is destroyed in Battle by an
opponent’s Monster, remove this Monster and the
opponent’s Monster from the game.
It’s been a while since this card was last reviewed,
and not much has changed about it since then.
Searchable by Reinforcement of the army, 1700
attack/1600 defense. This card is a solid 1 for 1.
If it gets destroyed by battle, both DDA and the
other monster get removed. Simple. It’s a great way
to deal with Monarchs, and is a great drop behind a
cyber dragon. Any aggressive player hates seeing
this card played against them. Not as good as DD
Warrior Lady in most cases, but still not bad at
all.
Warriors seem to be outclassed by monarchs right
now, but this is a definite addition to any warrior
deck.

I’m personally glad that DDA is back at 2. She’s a
solid card, and yes a girl. Don’t believe me? Well
take a closer look at build of the body and how the
clothing is at the chest….. Focus Bob…
Sorry, let’s not get me started on that rant. DDA
has always been a solid beatstick choice, but was
severely hampered while restricted. Solid stats
1700/1600 combined with the obvious bonuses of being
a warrior are compounded by he D.D. effect. Being
able to take anything bigger than you down with you
is awesome. Multiple DDAs were what gave the toolbox
deck of a year ago October a solid edge at the start
of the format. But as time progressed DDA’s use
declined. As I mentioned the restriction hurt, since
there never seemed to be a reason to run just one.
By now the evolution of the meta has lead to there
being less room for DDA, combined with the
diversification of archetypes, means that she sees
less play than in her heyday. Regardless, she is
still performs her function flawlessly.
