Today we look at Energy-Absorbing Monolith, a very
interesting Trap card. I am personally a fan of
Lifepoint gain cards and Decks, and consider them to
be very underrated. Have you ever played a Fire
Princess Burn/Recovery Deck or a Guardian Angel Joan
Deck? Those are incredibly fun.
Anyway, if your opponent activates a card effect
that would inflict damage to you, the damage is
negated, and your Lifepoints increase by an amount
equal to the damage you would have taken. This card
would be incredible if Continuous...anyway, it
really doesn't have much use, outside of tech, if
only because people don't seem to care about
Lifepoint gain.
I would use it though in the Fire Princess or
Guardian Angel Joan deck...maybe a Saturn or Agent
deck, and possibly even in Exodia.
Ratings:
Traditional: 2.5/5 More Burn, defense is welcome.
Advanced: 3.5/5 Could be useful tech, if only in the
side-deck.

GLAS-EN075 ENERGY
ABSORBING MONOLITH
5/5
This rating is only for the side deck. One of the
best cards out there to counter burn. Glad to see
another crank appear before urn players everywhere:)
Obviously this card is useless when used against
anything else, but it sure shuts down wave-motion
cannon. |

Energy Absorbing Monolith
Meh, it is an ok card. It will turn the tide in a
Burn matchup, but that is about it. I would much
prefer to use Des Wombat in a burn matchup, because
Skill Drain is only three cards in 40. You can use
this if burn id very prevalent in your area or at a
tournament as a clever side deck choice. Reminds me
of 2001 A Space Odyssey and that gives it points
from me. It just is a one trick pony, and we can't
really afford those kind of cards in Yu-Gi-Oh! at
the moment.

Energy Absorbing Monolith
Continuing this week with Gladiators Assault, we
look at the Super Rare Energy Absorbing Monolith.
It's an ok trap card with very little potential to
see play. At best you'd see this sided boarded
against burn, but even then, there are better
options than that.
So the effect of this card states when a card that
inflicts damage to your life points to you, you
negate the damage and instead gain it. I see this as
not such a good effect even against burn as that's
really the only deck type that would utilize card
effects to deal damage against you.
In Traditional, I don't see this card happening at
all. Period.
