Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day
Dark Paladin |
Tuesday
Merry Christmas! It is Christmas,
and
I decided for the Holiday as a "gift" of sorts to
our reviewer's, we should have a Reviewer's Choice.
These are always fun for me, and I always put a lot
of thought into them. Everyone always expects a
Spellcaster out of me but here's what I decided...
I have decided Dark Magician of Chaos...an Ultra
Rare from a little set known as Invasion of Chaos.
Dark Magician of Chaos is one of the best two
tribute monsters in the game...perhaps the best.
2800 attack (and 2600) defense are both incredibly
solid for a Level 8 monster. When Normal or Special
summoned, you get to add a Magic Card from your
Graveyard to your Hand. Furthermore, anything DMoC
destroys is removed from the game, instead of going
to the Graveyard.
DMoC is also removed from the game himself when
destroyed, but their are decks that can capitalize
off that. This is quite an interesting card...you
can't just throw DMoC into a Deck and expect him to
work well.
Decks DMoC does well in:
Dimension Fusion/Return From the Different Dimension
Diamond Dude Turbo Strike Ninja Spellcaster
Those are just a few places DMoC works well, but he
can hold his weight most places.
Ratings:
Traditional: 3.65/5 It IS a two tribute monster, and
he can be destroyed more easily, but his effects and
attack make up for it.
Advanced: 4.75/5 Not for everyone, but still one
hell of a card!

Dark Magician of Chaos
This card is definitely one of my favorite cards
that's out there right now.
And he's obviously one of the best two tribute
monsters in the advanced format. Now let's get this
review started...
DMoC is an Ultra Rare from Dark Rev. 2 or Invasion
of Chaos, and he's a bit pricy considering that in
both sets he's an Ultra Rare. As I said earlier,
he's definitely one of the best two tribute monsters
in the game.
He's a 2800/2600 for stats which is really solid.
Now his effect is what makes him really amazing.
When he's normal or special summoned, you can move 1
Spell Card from your graveyard and add it to your
hand. So basically, you can use a Spell twice if you
needed to. I think that's amazing plus in a huge
beatdown body, he's sure to wreck some havoc. In
addition, any monster he destroys is removed from
play instead of being sent to the graveyard. And his
final effect is if he's removed from the field, he's
instead removed from play.
A lot of decks can utilize DMoC in many ways. With
the release of Light and Darkness Dragon, a lot of
people are running Foolish burial to send DMoC to
the grave and revive him through Light and Darkness
Dragon. DMoC is also effective in DDT, and a lot of
other decks. If you're going to run a 2 Tribute
monster, DMoC is definitely your 1st choice. Once he
decides to hit the field, you are going to have the
time of your life. :)
My Ratings:
Advanced: 4.9/5
Traditional: 3.9/5

Dark Magician of Chaos
Well this started as a Reviewer's Choice, but since
the other two reviewed this and since I planned to
review this anyway, let's just go with it.
DMoC is an 8 star (Expected), 2800 ATK (yay), Dark
(Yay), Spellcaster (Yayish) with several effects
that honestly make this one of the best
Spellcaster's out there.
- His first effect is absolutely awesome. It's best
late game, so you'll want to save this guy till you
have something in the GY you want to use. I have
ended games with this guy more than once. Infact,
I'd say about 80% of the time I land him on the
field, it's game over. Getting back a Shield Crush,
Pot of Avarice, Lightning Vortex, or Heavy Storm is
almost always going to inflict some heavy damage on
your opponent.
- The second effect is once again - amazing.
Removing opponents monsters from play is a big game
mechanic that can allow you to completely shut down
Monarchs (Treeborn Frog), Zombies (Il Blud and
Zombie Master), and pretty much anything that dares
to focus on the graveyard.
- The third effect is his biggest down fall by far.
However, in the right deck it can be an upside. I
run a deck featuring this guy and Return From the
Different Dimension. So basically as soon as he's
dead, I can bring him back and gain back another
spell card.
All in all, this guy does not see as much play as
he deserves. He has plenty of support, great
effects, and can be quite intimidating once he hits
the field.
Traditional: 3/5 (He's a Dark, but he's also two
tribute. Your best shot is to dump and revive)
Advanced: 4/5 (This thing can be devastating to say
the least)
