The
Dark Lucius line
They nerfed this line so badly.
Dark Lucius had potential. The 1000 ATK for Lv. 4
was bad, but it was at least searchable. 1700 ATK
for a Lv. 6 is just downright miserable, and the
2800 ATK for Lv. 8 just isn't worth it.
The bad thing about these: If you "cheat" the curve
through Level Up (which you shouldn't play anyway)
or tributing for Lv. 6/8, you don't get their
effects! Lv. 6 HAS to come through Lv. 4's effect,
or you don't get to negate any effects. Lv. 8 HAS to
come through Lv. 6's effect, or you don't get to
remove or negate anything. I'm sorry, but with all
the free face-down removal in this game as it is,
there's no reason to play this monster line with its
utterly low ATK values and "have to go through them
the right way" effects.
If you're gonna play a Level line, let it be Horus.

Dark Paladin |
Today we look at a new family of Level monsters from
Cyber Dark Impact.
We'll start with the lowest Level of the Lucius
family, Dark Lucius Level 4.
Dark Lucius Level 4 is fairly unspectacular on the
attack and defense front. 1000 attack is very low
for a four star monster, and 300 defense is equally
low. On the plus side, it negates the effects of
monsters it destroys, but it can't take out anything
much...Magician of Faith and a defense position
Sangan. Odds are to keep this guy on the field until
your next turn, you will have to invest in a
protection card.
So, we move on to Dark Lucius Level 6, who is also a
fairly difficult monster to utilize. Being Level 6
and only having 1700 attack points is not good and
600 defense points is also not good. Dark Lucius
Level
6 also negates the effect of monsters it destroys,
and it can do more with 1700 attack. Summoning Dark
Lucius Level 8 is where things become tricky. you
still have to wait until your NEXT Standby Phase and
you have to have negated the effected of an
opponent's monster first.
Now, if you manage to successfully summon Dark
Lucius Level 8, it may actually be worth it. Dark
Lucius Level 8 has a nice solid 2800 attack points
but a miserable 900 defense points. Like his younger
family members, he continues to negate the effects
of monsters he desetroys, but as an added bonus, he
removes them from the game. In short, it takes a lot
of time and probably to many resources to get this
far.
Try it out though, I think a deck could work with
this family.

The Dark Lucius Series:
These really look like Dark World monsters, but with
swords.
Monster effect negation is a rather useful ability,
and the LV8's remove from play is generally nice.
Now, having to wait until the Standby Phase to level
up is a tad of a bore, but not impossible. The
problem with this Level set is their ATKs. A Lv4
with 1000 ATK?
Ehm, that has problems taking down tomatos, much
less anything else. Overall, a nice idea that was
taken down too many steps in power.

Dark Lucius Level 4/6/8
4/6
This obviously goes for lv. 6 and 8. 4 is just
pathetic as far as stats are concerned. The ability
to negate effects is a powerful ability. Especially
nice that they can be tribute/special summoned
without using the lv. up mechanic.

Dark Lucius
Today’s review focuses on the Dark
Lucius family. Like the Horus line, they have to
destroy monsters as a result of battle in order to
“Level Up”. Dark Lucius LV4 has the benefit of
negating the effects of monster he destroys in
battle. Not too shabby for a 4-star creature.
Once that is done, you can “Level Up”
to LV6 on the next Standby Phase. That seems a bit
slow for me. Anyways, LV6 has the exact same effect
as LV4 with a bit more ATK power.
After you negate an effect with LV6
you get to “Level Up” to LV8 on the following
Standby Phase. LV8’s effect isn’t too shabby: You
get to negate an effect and remove it from
play. Not too shabby for a 2800 ATK.
Last Word:
This LV family takes a bit too much
effort to bring out, especially since you have to
wait till every next Standby Phase to “Level Up”.
You could always use the card ‘Level Up!’ to do the
job, but there are cards out there that do a better
job at negating effects. On top of that they’re
Fiends. Try Terrorking Archfiend or Dark Ruler Ha
Des.
