Volcanic Shell

Hey, nearly free Blaze Accelerator fodder!

Volcanic Shell won't be on the field long with its 100 ATK points -- but then again, it wasn't meant to be. You want ito be pitching it from your hand, as you'll be paying 500 LP to grab another one. Then you can pitch that to Blaze Accelerator or Tri-Blaze Accelerator to destroy another monster of your opponent's (and if you have Tri-Blaze out, do damage as well.) This gives the new-age fire deck some incentive to play themed removal instead of generic removal. Being able to nuke face-downs is much more of an asset in the US game as well, being that we don't have Shield Crush JUST yet, making f/d removal harder to come by.

If you're running a deck dedicated to using Blaze/Tri-Blaze, you should be using this.

3.5/5

Thursday

Today we look at Volcanic Shell, a little monster who has a unique ability. It may be a Level 1 Fire monster with only 100 attack and 0 defense, but let's take a closer look, shall we?

By paying 500 Lifepoints, once per turn, you can add one Volcanic Shell from your Deck to your Hand, as long as this card all ready exists in the Graveyard. So, it can replace itself, at least in a manner of speaking...replace itself back to your Hand with a new copy from the Deck.

It's not bad, but it isn't that great either. There are worse things you can do, and Force of the Breaker, as well as the next set, give Fire decks a lot of support, so stay on your guard.

Volcanic Shell :
What exactly is that supposed to be a picture of?

Hmmmmk. Cards. Though Thunder Dragon is a strictly better way to get cards to your hand should you happen to want generic discards, this isn't bad. I remember there being other cards that key off having Volcanic Shell somewhere, which increases its use. I'd say, not bad, though it really depends on how much you want the extra cards.

Volcanic Shell

4/5

This card allows the volcanic spell cards to become positive advantage. Snipe Hunter allows this card to once again provide free discard fodder. Card Destruction will become a plus one. All in all I think the effect of searching your deck for discard fodder is well done. The fact it is a monster is kinda cool too.
Turkeyspit Volcanic Shell

Force of the Breaker introduced two new Themed decks to the Yugiverse: Crystal Beasts, and the Volcanic Monsters.

Volcanic Shell is appropriately named, as it serves as ammunition to power the effects of both Blaze Accelerator and Tri-Blaze Accelerator cannon. Since Blaze Accelerator requires a Pyro-type monster with 500 ATK or less, you can see why Shell would be a good choice.

If you weren't entirely sure about Shell's utility, then take a look at the 2nd effect it has. For the small price of 500 Life Points, you can remove it from play, and add another Volcanic Shell to your hand from your deck.

It's really only useful in a Volcanic deck, but then that's the whole point of themes.

Traditional:
1/5 - He could chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

Advanced:
4/5 - Volcanic Scattershot has a slighly better effect, but nonetheless, if you are running a Volcanic deck, you should be running Volcanic Shell.

Volcanic Shell
Level 1
Fire
[Pyro/Effect]
Once per turn, while this card is in your Graveyard, you can pay 500 Life Points to add 1 "Volcanic Shell" from your deck to your hand.
100/0

Well Volcanic Shell can really be a blessing to many decks. First off any decks that play Blaze Accelerator, Tri-Blaze Accelerator can really benefit with Volcanic Shell. Force of the Breaker came out with more Fire-Type cards to help support the overall theme that it had. So many more cards to benefit Fire cards and does this help so much. Especially with Tri-Blaze Accelerator, discard Volcanic Shell, destroy a monster and inflict 500, just for discarding Volcanic Shell, then you can easily pay 500 to do it again.

Another great card that Volcanic Shell makes even better is Snipe Hunter. Jeff Baumgartner side decked 3 of these and a 3rd snipe in his deck at Shonen Jump Championship Minneapolis. With many Destiny Hero Beatdown decks and OD Burn and other stall or variant decks that depend on many cards being on the field, Volcanic Shell helps so much. Snipe Hunter can be a lot better now with this card, now you can get shells and discard them and not have to give up any potential game-winning cards to get rid of any problems on the field. This will help many decks do a lot better. Thanks to Volcanic Shell, new combos can be formed and many other cards from the past, get better.

Traditional: 2/5 You can utilize this card with Tribe-Infecting Virus, Painful Choice or anything that you can discard a card, but it's no Sinister Serpent.
Advanced:4.5/5 So many cards get better and now Lightning Vortex has a chance to see more play, even though it isn't Sinister Serpent, it's still a great overall card when ran in 3's

Volcanic Shell

At first look, volcanic shell isn't to impressive, but when you take a closer look, it has an effect similar to destiny hero malicious, or sinister serpent.  This card is very good when combined with snipe hunter, as seen in the side deck of Jeff Baumgartner.

Its effect says, pay 500 lp to add another volcanic shell to your hand from your deck.  This is pretty cool because it replaces itself.  You could even set it, tribute it for a monarch, then pay 500 to add another to your hand.  Thats pretty impressive.  Its stats arent to great, weighing in at 500/500, but its potential ability is what makes it great.

Volcanic shell is great in any combo deck, or a deck that has many discard costs.  If your deck has alot of discard costs, you could play 3 of these, treeborn frog, and night assailant, to help out.  Overall, this is a pretty good card and i expect it to see a decent amount of play.
