Soul of Fire

I don't think we should be that desperate to do damage. that we let our opponent free draw.

Basically, in most fire decks, the highest ATK monster you have is 3,000. So basically, this card reads "your opponent draws a card, do 1,500 damage and you can't attack that turn." I can think of MANY other burn cards that don't let your opponent free draw that can do 1,500 or more damage. Secret Barrel with your opponent controlling 8 or more cards. Just Desserts when they have 3 monsters. Any decent activation of Ceasefire. Chain Strike as Chain Link 4 or better.

Even regular burn decks that don't absolutely depend on chain links should be able to throw out 1,500 in one card without resorting to this. Unless you have some major combo where you're going to revive a bunch of monsters you removed with this...I'm just not seeing it as anything close to a Tier 1 deck.

Today we look at Soul of Fire, another card that has an awesome picture.

Let's recap this card, shall we? Your opponent gets to draw a card.
That's not the best of things to see on a card. You then select a Pyro monster from your Deck...that's interesting. Remove the monster from play and your opponent takes damage equal to half the attack of the removed monster. However, you can't attack in the turn you use this card.

This card has potential. You could activate three Soul of Fire in one turn, then you would still only lose one Battle Phase. If you removed something strong, Volcanic Doomfire perhaps, your opponent would take 4500 damage!

Mid to late game, that would almost certainly be a victory for you.
Also, obviously, if you win the game in that turn, it won't matter how many cards you just let your opponent Draw. I don't think you could just throw this into your Fire Deck and hope for the best. You might have to build your Deck around massive burn, perhaps more than normal, and x3 of this and you could have something.

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Soul of Fire

This could be a nice addition to burn orientated strategy because it grants the user to a quick 1500 damage. Outside of such a deck this is useless, but it has potential.

3/5 -in burn (not really needed but can add some flavor)

I actually want to get a play set of these and try to play a traditional burn deck.
Turkeyspit Soul of Fire

I remember when my friend first pulled one of these from his FOTB packs. He took one look at it, and tossed into his trade-bait box. As he put it, "When I got saw 'your opponent draws 1 card', I stopped reading".

Realistically, at most this card can inflict 1500 LPs of damage, assuming you removed either Lava Golem or Volcanic Doomfire from your graveyard from play. Tremendous Fire can inflict 1000 LPs to your opponent, without giving them the +1, or requiring you to have either Golem or Doomfire in your graveyard.

Situational and lackluster, all in one? Weeeee...

Traditional:
1/5 - I think I'm just going to make a "this sucks for Traditional" macro, to help me with these reviews.

Advanced:
1/5 - Only to be used in a Doomfire / Burn deck, and even then you shouldn't be using it...

Card Art:
2/5 - "C'mon Nine Tailed Fox...gimme your Chakra!!!"

And on we go with another new card….

SOUL OF FIRE
[Spell Card]
Your opponent draws 1 card. Select 1 Pyro-Type monster from your Deck and remove it from play. Inflict damage to your opponent equal to half the ATK of the removed monster. If you activate this card, you cannot declare an attack this turn.

I read the first line of this card and almost throw this out right there. Allowing the opponent to draw a card while you don’t get to is almost never worth it, unless the effect is incredible or, in this case, you just so happened to finish them off with the effect.

You get to search your deck for a pyro monster and remove it from play, any pyro monster, and you deal ˝ the attack of that monster to your opponent’s life. In most circumstances, at most, this will do 1500 life points. In return, along with allowing the opponent to draw a card, you also give up your attack for the turn.

If it weren’t for that last line. You could simply play 2 Soul of Fire’s, remove 2 3000 attack pyro type monsters, do 3000 total damage, then play Dimension Fusion and attack with them for game.

But, alas, there are just too many negatives to this card to justify playing it, even in a pyro burn deck.

Soul of Fire
Normal Spell

Your opponent draws 1 card. Select 1 Pyro-Type monster from your Deck and remove it from play. Inflict damage to your opponent equal to half of the ATK of the removed monster. If you activate this card, you cannot declare an attack this turn.

More of the Pyro theme shown in this card from the set Force of the Breaker. This card is a really good late game and can be game-winning card in Pyro decks. Just to think if you have that high ATK Pyro in your deck still and you have your opponent at low life and BAM the game is over by this card. This is only going to be used in a Pyro deck, so it isn't going to be as playable. Many of the cards in Force of the Breaker that have to do with Pyro, so that hinders the playability of this card in general. It is useful, though I don't think any people would play this in more than one in a Pyro deck unless you're going for all damage with Solar-Flare Dragon and Raging Flame Sprite. Even in those decks, you have to make sure you have some High ATK monsters in the deck for this card to be really useful. Fun Pyro decks can find many ways to utilize it.

Traditional: 1/5 Pyro in traditional? No.
Advanced: 1.5/5 Can be a game-winning card in a Pyro Deck, but outside of it, really pointless.
