Volcanic Slicer...quite the picture, yet not the best of cards.
Volcanic Slicer is a Level 4 Fire/Pyro mosnter with 1800 attack and 1200 defense, who like yesterday's card can inflict 500 points of damage to your opponent.

However, this card can inflict 500 points of damage to your opponent once a turn, every turn! Not bad...but wait...if you inflict 500 points of damage, Volcanic Slicer can't attack. You could flip it face-down after inflicting damage, flip it back up, and then attack, but that's a lot to do just for 500 points.

Volcanic Slicer is a good beatstick for the Fire deck, but the burn option isn't great, since you can't do both, and it's only for 500 points.

Ratings:

Fire Volcanic (constructed build): 3/5

Art: 4/5

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

This is not a bad monster and offers burn a few more aggressive options. I personally think Solar Flare Dragon is better due to numerous ways to search it out, and its self protection ability, and its ability to attack and burn.

But this guy has 1800 attack.

3/5
Turkeyspit Volcanic Slicer

The Primary focus for any Burn deck is to use card effects to inflict direct damage to your opponent, removing the need to actually attacking their monsters. Protected by a wall of Stall cards, a Burn player has the time and opportunity to flip over their Stealth Birds and Des Koalas, while drawing their Secret Barrels, Just Desserts and Ojama Trios. It is when those Stall cards cannot be drawn or are destroyed that a Burn player finds themself in trouble, but now they have a new tool for their arsenal: enter Volcanic Slicer.

It's obvious that this card serves a solid roll in a Volcanic Doomfire deck, but I would like to address the utility this card has in a plain old Burn deck.

The only monster that resemebles a "beatstick" in your average Burn deck is Lava Golem, and that's normally given to your opponent. Should your LLAB, Gravity Bind or Nightmare Steelcage cards not be available or active, a Burn player can quickly find themselves on the receiving end of a beating, with only their 1800 DEF Koalas and Stealth Birds to protect them.

Volcanic Slicer gives a Burn player an 1800 ATK beatstick of their own, which is enough to take down anything from Kycoo and Stratos, down to Banisher of the Radiance, Des Wombat, Snipe Hunter and Wildheart. If that weren't enough, it just so happens to be a Pyro type monster, which gives a significant boost to Aggro-Burn decks that run Raging Flame Sprite and Solar Flare Dragon.

What truly sets Volcanic Slicer apart is it's versatility. Were you just forced to activate your Gravity Bind to prevent getting smashed by Cyber Dragon? No problem, because instead of your monster sitting there useless, Volcanic Slicer can "spit out" 500 LPs of Damage eacn and every turn.

Both conventional Burn and Aggro Burn benefit from this card, so expect to see him in a Burn deck near you!

------------------------------------

Traditional:
1/5 - *sigh*

Advanced:
3/5 - This card makes a good addition to a regular or Aggro style burn deck. It's also an auto-include for a Volcanic deck, but I don't need to tell you that.

Card Art:
2/5 - "That's one spicey meeeetball!"

Argh, midterms, evil. So we continue looking at the Pyro support cards today with Volcanic Slicer. An interesting card really, but unfortunately nothing too special. Effectively it gives you an 1800/1200 vanilla beatstick for use in a Pyro deck, but with the added bonus of being able to burn when you can’t attack. Now I worded the effect that way because, normally, attacking is a more appropriate action.

Outside of its role in a pyro deck, there is effectively no reason to ever run this card. There are far too many cards that not only do more, but do it better.

Once per turn, you can inflict 500 damage to your opponent. If you activate this effect, this card cannot attack during this turn.
1800/1200

Pyros Pyros everywhere and not a drop to drink. Most of the cards in Force of the Breaker are really in tuned with doing 500 damage with card effects. Here is another one. Well 500 damage can be nice, but a huge drawback in the fact your can't attack. Usually when you know your opponent has a Gravekeeper's Spy or other big defense monster face down or face up, then this effect really comes in handy. Other than that though, not being able to attack and with just 1800 ATK it's not an overall great card. Sure many monsters nowadays that are played have low defense and low attack (other than Cyber Dragon and Gravekeeper's Spy) so it can do some damage and make Pyros playable, but it's not as good as it's not splashable in any deck. Just 500 a turn, I'd rather discard scattershot and still be able to attack with maybe say Snipe Hunter. This is just a good support card for Pyros and nothing more than that. Have fun making a fun Pyro deck, and don't forget to put this guy into it!

Traditional: 1/5 only 500? pointless
Advanced: 2/5 Decent stats, just Pyros aren't that playable.

This card's fairly good for the stall versions of this deck.

1800 ATK is good enough to fend off most non-Cyber Dragon, non-tribute monsters; the 500 damage is nice if you have something like Gravity Bind or Level Limit or Messenger of Peace locking down the field, which can force your opponent to take action.  Much better for consistency for the Volcanic deck, but still not absolutely game-breaking.
