If you have a deck you need to remove several
Fire monsters for, I understand POSSIBLY using
this card. However, there are usually better
ways to remove multiple monsters at once, and
better things to remove them for. If this
DESTROYED rather than NEGATED, I could see using
this. But as it stands, especially with an
added cost to keep it on the field, this
shouldn't see any play. Sorry, but no real
reason for me to consider this.

Firewall is a very interesting Trap for Fire decks,
and one you can't just throw in and hope everything
works out.
When your opponent declares a direct attack, you can
negate the attack by removing one Pyro type monster
in your Graveyard form play. Not too bad, but it
only stops direct attacks. The big downside is the
cost.
You have to pay 500 Lifepoints during each of yoru
Standby phases. If you don't, Firewall is destroyed.
You could add a Dimension Fusion of Return From the
Different Dimension for a nice Return/Swarm combo,
but again, this only works on direct attacks, and
you have to pay for it.

A horrible card that offers no help to developing
the archetype. This is card I assume was made to
complement shell. Had it killed the monster that was
attacking it would be great. Yet negating attacks
makes me wonder why you would not run a traditional
trap or Negate Attack? At least they do not cost 500
LP and graveyard fodder. |

It's amazing how one word can affect the playability
of a card. In Firewall's case, that word is
"direct".
In order to make use of this card, your opponent
must attack you directly. Why you would plan to let
your opponent do so is beyond me. If instead
Firewall could simply negate an opponent's attack,
then at least it would be a useful stall card, as
well as an engine that could fuel RFTDD.
Bad card design, plain and simple.

When your opponent declares a direct attack, you can
negate that monster's attack by removing from play 1
Pyro-Type monster in your Graveyard. Pay 500 Life
Points during each of your Standby Phases. If you do
not, destroy this card.
Obviously, this is a Pyro decks stall card. Remove a
Pyro type monster from the grave to stop a direct
attack and pay 500 during each of your standby
phases.
So, this is horrible during early game as you may
not have Pyro monsters in the game to remove, and
it’s bad mid game as you may not have 500 life
points to pay to keep it on the field. Which means
that this is best drawn and used mid-game.
I would personally play Sakuretsu Armor though as
this card only negates the attack and being a
continuous trap makes it weak to S/T removal.
That’s all I have to say. I suppose you could try
this in a Pyro deck, maybe with some RftDD’s and
such.

I hate continuous traps not named Call of the
Haunted. Firewall is interesting as it gives you
protection at the cost of a dead monster. Not only
could that be useful, but it can be setup if you are
running some weird pyro deck. The optional cost is
standard fare, but 500 isn’t much, especially if you
force them to use a s/t removal on it.
The downsides are obvious though, it only helps you
when you have an empty field. That’s saddening;
pyro’s could have used it as a generic protection.
And it is also restricted to use in pyro decks only.
There really isn’t much more to say, there are far
better traps out there, much more reliable ones.
This is best suited for some sort of setup role
only. |

More Pyro-Mania on COTD. Today we get to see a trap.
This trap isn't bad at all. It's like a Skull Lair
but you only need 1 Pyro-Type per attack and it
stops direct battle damage. Pyro decks get a huge
boost as they needed protection and with cards like
Volcanic Shell and Volcanic Scattershot, this card
gets even better. Just to think those cards you
discarded to use with Blaze Accelerator, Tri-Blaze
Accelerator and even Snipe Hunter, not only can
destroy monster, do 500 damage, or destroy any card,
they can save you from mass damage. With many fast
decks in this format, being able to stop battle
damage by removing one Pyro-Type can really help you
mount a comeback that seemed insurmountable before.
With many cards that can do extreme monster
destruction like Lightning Vortex, you can send away
that Pyro-Type and save yourself in the future. This
card is also like Mirror Wall, pay or not, so it can
save you for one turn or you can keep it around for
as long as the threats on the field still are there.
Though this only will help Pyro decks, it's still a
great addition to the Pyro Family.
Traditional: 1/5 Pyros? I don't think so.
Advanced: 2/5 Many Pyro-Types can be sent to the
Graveyard with many other cards and this can easily
be a savior of a card in a Pyro deck.

Ok, for todays review, i would like to say sorry for
my long absence. I have been preparing for
nationals, and was in canada for 9 days and had no
access to the internet. So lets start off with the
effect of firewall:
When your opponent declares a direct attack, you can
negate that monsters attack by removing from play 1
pyro-type monster in your graveyard. Pay 500
Lifepoints during each of your standby phases. If
you do not, destroy this card.
This is probrably best used in a deck that uses many
pyros so you can use this effect often and
effectively. If a stall burn deck was able to fit in
alot of pyros and a way to get them to the
graveyard, this could be used to stop many attacks.
I dont think you will ever see this in a top 16 of a
sjc, but this could be a fun card for locals and
maybe even regionals.
I cant think of many uses for this card other than
it can be used in a stall deck. So this is the end
of my review, but I will make sure monday will be a
fresh and long report.
